LightHeaded  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v100002-1.0.0-2022-12-15
by: Cladhaire [More]

Classic not updated at the moment, only retail.

LightHeaded is a very simple addon that displays quest information and comments from http://www.wowhead.com in game, eliminating the need to Alt-Tab when you get stuck on quest. This addon was inspired by qcomments and wowhead_quests, which both serve a similar purpose. Data is only loaded when you first request it, so you can be sure you're not using more memory than you need to.

I HIGHLY suggest using this addon with TomTom, another one of my addons (http://www.wowinterface.com/download...32-TomTom.html ). This allows you to simply click any coordinate in LightHeaded to add it to your map as a waypoint.

The following slash commands are valid:
  • /lh attach - Attaches the frame to the quest log
  • /lh detach - Detaches the frame, allows you to resize and move it
  • /lh sound - Toggles the open/close sound
  • /lh page - Toggles showing all comments on one page, or with multiple pages
  • /lh bgalpha <0.0-1.0> - Changes the alpha of the LH window background textures, so you can see the world.
  • /lh debug - Enables or disabled debug messages when loading quest databases
  • /lh config - Opens the LightHeaded configuration window
  • /lh autodetails - Toggle automatic opening of the Lightheaded window when clicking a quest in the objective tracker

LightHeaded now includes the English descriptions and introductory text for most of the quests in the game. This is disabled by default, but can be enabled for those players that are not playing in their native locale.

LightHeaded supports sending coordinates to TomTom, MapNotes, Cartographer2 and Cartographer3.

IMPORTANT: Addon authors that wish to use this API and data should
include the wowhead logo in the frame that displays this information.
They are kind enough to let me continue parsing their database, and we
owe them at least that much. Thank you.

Thanks for using my addons!

Updated 2022-12-15 for retail.

I know that some stuff is broken at the moment but the data is there and updated. The quest UI shit is an absolutely shit-show right now and has been since 6.x and I don't have a super great answer to it at the moment. I'll try to see what I can do, but I don't have a ton of spare time to put into LH at the moment.

Thank you!

Thank you for the new parse of the database! I'll happily type in a quest name!

I haven't had to type /lh show in a while - using Classic Quest Log, and having typed /lh show once, it pops up just fine. It's not attached, but I can move it.

I want to thank you, Cladhaire, again, for continuing to work on these addons despite having wanted other people to take them over.

Thanks for all your hard work. It is usable at the moment, just needs you to type in the quest name rather than auto finding it. It's a great mod and I would be lost without it. Well Done

Even though I now have to type in the quest title, I'm not gonna complain because I'm so happy that you are back! Thank you again for my fave addon to the game

How did you manage that? I tried fresh installs of both (ie; deleting any related files from WTF/savedvariables, and Interface folders and downloading fresh zips) and LH wont pop up for me when clicking on a quest in Classic Quest Log.

... I'm not sure, actually. Classic Quest Log is what pops up when I use the default keybind (Lower case L, I think? - it's in muscle memory, I don't recall. ) and when I click on a quest in the objectives tracker (Which I have modified by Who Framed Watcher Rabbit?). The Lightheaded window pops up when I do either. I don't have to click on a quest in the Classic Quest Log quest panel, the Lightheaded window is already there.

Sorry I can't be of more help.
-Barleduq

ETA: Actually, I poked a bit more. When I open the quest log with the keybind, it comes up in 2 panels. and Lightheaded does NOT show up with it. When I click on the objective tracker, Classic Quest Log comes up in 1 panel, and Lightheaded *does* show up with it.

Hope this helps...

Persistent Tooltip

I clicked on a quest in the objective tracker, which popped up Classic Quest Log adn the lightheaded window, which wanted a quest name to search for. I put in the quest name (Blood for the Wolfe) and it displayed that it found that quest. When I went to click on the name in the display, I got a hovertip that said I was on the quest, That hovertip persisted when I closed the Quest pane, when I alt-tabbed out of wow to somethign that was overlaying the window, and then back, through 2 zone changes (where I got a loading screen), and finally left when I did a /reload.

Not sure what can be done about it, but figured I'd report it. No errors taht Swatter ccaught.

Any chance we can get update on this?
Maybe get it working again with Classic Quest Log please, right now it is a blank page and you have to type the name of the quest for this to show anything.

Not sure if it's just me, but I had to stop using LightHeaded due to how much it slowed down (often causing pauses) the game. Anyone else experience this? Granted I use a lot of addons, but removing just this one cleared up all the pauses I was experiencing - and not just after loading/zoning. Great addon, just wonder if it could be better optimized somehow.

There's nothing to optimize, it doesn't do anything periodic and only has a cost when you're loading data for the first time or looking at it. If you're seeing something else that would be a bug and would need to be reported as so, with clear information about how to reproduce the issue.

Yes, i know there are issues with the quest log, but the addon still 'works' right now and I don't have time in my life at the moment to work on enhancement or to try and reconcile it with other addons. Perhaps in the future.

I had the same problem.
Resizing the window fixed it for me!

To get rid of the tooltip, just hover your mouse over the Back link in the Lightheaded window
