LightHeaded  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v100002-1.0.0-2022-12-15
by: Cladhaire [More]

Classic not updated at the moment, only retail.

LightHeaded is a very simple addon that displays quest information and comments from http://www.wowhead.com in game, eliminating the need to Alt-Tab when you get stuck on quest. This addon was inspired by qcomments and wowhead_quests, which both serve a similar purpose. Data is only loaded when you first request it, so you can be sure you're not using more memory than you need to.

I HIGHLY suggest using this addon with TomTom, another one of my addons (http://www.wowinterface.com/download...32-TomTom.html ). This allows you to simply click any coordinate in LightHeaded to add it to your map as a waypoint.

The following slash commands are valid:
  • /lh attach - Attaches the frame to the quest log
  • /lh detach - Detaches the frame, allows you to resize and move it
  • /lh sound - Toggles the open/close sound
  • /lh page - Toggles showing all comments on one page, or with multiple pages
  • /lh bgalpha <0.0-1.0> - Changes the alpha of the LH window background textures, so you can see the world.
  • /lh debug - Enables or disabled debug messages when loading quest databases
  • /lh config - Opens the LightHeaded configuration window
  • /lh autodetails - Toggle automatic opening of the Lightheaded window when clicking a quest in the objective tracker

LightHeaded now includes the English descriptions and introductory text for most of the quests in the game. This is disabled by default, but can be enabled for those players that are not playing in their native locale.

LightHeaded supports sending coordinates to TomTom, MapNotes, Cartographer2 and Cartographer3.

IMPORTANT: Addon authors that wish to use this API and data should
include the wowhead logo in the frame that displays this information.
They are kind enough to let me continue parsing their database, and we
owe them at least that much. Thank you.

Thanks for using my addons!

Updated 2022-12-15 for retail.

I was rebuilding my addon folder, trying to track down a vague "*OnEvent" script error from some unknown addon, when I hit this after adding in the Lightheaded addon. Basically I just hit "L", then clicked the tab that minimizes the LH Comments portion of the QLog, and I noticed this error had fired.
Thanks, appreciate the report

So I wasn't sure what was going on, thanks for the quick reply though I'll get those screenshots on in a second.
*sigh* The folder is named, because you're supposed to realize its NOT the addon, and look inside to figure out what to do.

C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns is where I put the folder and then extracted in there but I'm not sure what to do after this. So I'm not sure what to do now. Thanks for the quick response.
There is a readme that explains very clearly what do to

Hi,

lightheaded used to automatically attach itself to the ace2 addon "nquestlog"

now it will not show with nquestlog, it will only show with default quest log

please make it work with nquestlog like in 2.3!

(also i tried attach detach etc but lightheaded always closes when default log is closed)

i want it attached to nquestlog basically like it was in 2.3
It is up to other addons to support LH, and I suspect they need to be updated. This is not a LightHeaded issue.

I am having the same issue as Nagello. I download the file, extract the files to my desktop > Copy > go to My Computer > C: Drive > Program Files > World of Warcraft > Interface > Add-ons.

After this, I open up WoW and it's not in my Add-Ons section nor ingame. Am i supposed to open up the LightHeaded-INSTALL then extract the LightHeaded folder or something?

I love this add-on by the way! Good job Clad.
Yes, as the readme.txt indicates.

Right, but the latest r204 is not zipped properly, regardless.

Instead of \LightHeaded, \LightHeaded\Data & \LightHeaded\Images paths in the zip as you would expect, instead it has all those paths prefaced with "\LightHeaded-INSTALL\". The result of which is if you unzip them with a common unzipping utility and include the folder paths (as you typically do unzipping mods), it won't extract properly. You thus have to manually extract the files. Or else extract as is, then manually search for the LightHeaded-INSTALL folder and manually move the subfolders to the proper place as mentioned by the author and others below. Which is very inconvenient.

So this needs a re-release with the files zipped properly.
I zipped it this way intentionally. You seem to not understand my reasoning for doing so. LightHeaded will eventually consist of five different directories. REGARDLESS of how I zip it, someone is going to screw it up. If I just zip those 6 folders directly, some zip programs will wrap it in a LightHeaded directory, and so people install that and their addons don't work. I figured this way I could control some of the madness.

Inconvenient for you for 2 seconds. Ideally it will help me provide support.

When I click on the Lightheaded "Next Page" arrow, it goes to the next page for a second or two, then back to the first page. If I click real fast, I can get it to page 3 or 4 or 5, but it still goes back to the first page after a second or two. I can't use it that way cuz my reading speed is not "Lightspeeded".
Thanks for the bug report, you can use single page mode until I get this fixed. Cheers.

As of 2.4 QuestFu does not work with Lightheaded. Lightheaded will work with the standard Quest log interface.

When opening quest details with QuestFu, I get this error:

Interface\AddOns\Lightheaded\lightheaded.lua:91 : attempt to compare number with string

Is there any fix for this?
Yes, they need to update to use the 2.4 API, which uses quest ids instead of name/level pairs.

Yes, map data isn't confirmed and in for the new zone. Second, this is NOT a LightHeaded issue, please report it for TomTom in the future.

Zipping it like that was probably not the best idea. It even messed up WUU a little bit. Please stick to the standard form of zipping addons, and most people won't have issues. Most all problems I've seen, result from the author burying the actual addon folder a few layers deep in the .zip file ...or trying to be different and using .RAR format.
For you. There is no standard form for my kind of addons. Please stop talking to me like I'm a child.

This might be an issue with nquestlog, not LightHeaded considering that it does work with the default quest log. Have you checked over on the wowace forums to see if others are having the same issue?

lightheaded used to automatically attach itself to the ace2 addon "nquestlog"

now it will not show with nquestlog, it will only show with default quest log

please make it work with nquestlog like in 2.3!

(also i tried attach detach etc but lightheaded always closes when default log is closed)

i want it attached to nquestlog basically like it was in 2.3

Yes, extract the LightHeaded folder out into your Addons directory, and it'll work perfectly.

:\

I am having the same issue as Nagello. I download the file, extract the files to my desktop > Copy > go to My Computer > C: Drive > Program Files > World of Warcraft > Interface > Add-ons.

After this, I open up WoW and it's not in my Add-Ons section nor ingame. Am i supposed to open up the LightHeaded-INSTALL then extract the LightHeaded folder or something?

I love this add-on by the way! Good job Clad.

Downloading and re-extracting isn't going to help make it work. You have to ensure its in the correct place.

When you download the .zip, it should extract to a folder called LightHeaded-INSTALL. Inside this folder is the actual addon directory, along with a readme.txt. Install the LightHeaded folder into your addons directory.

Addons are just files in a folder, and they will need to be placed correctly in order to be recognized by WoW.

The following FAQs may be of help:

Alternatively, post screenshots of where you've installed it, so we can see better what's going on.
C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns is where I put the folder and then extracted in there but I'm not sure what to do after this. So I'm not sure what to do now. Thanks for the quick response.

Well I extracted into my addons folder is there more I have to do I have the LightHeaded-INSTALL folder, I just installed an older version until I had time to play around with it. But it was only one folder that appeared compared to the like 8 or 9 with the older version. So I wasn't sure what was going on, thanks for the quick reply though I'll get those screenshots on in a second.
