移除聊天框架的雜亂並新增一些功能。
  • Shortens chat channel names
  • Shortens cross-realm character names and Real ID player names
  • Replaces Real ID player names and BattleTags with WoW character names
  • Enables arrow keys without the Alt key (*)
  • Enables resizing chat frames by their edges
  • Makes all channels sticky (**)
  • Makes URLs clickable for easy copying
  • Moves the input box above the chat frame
  • Sets the delay time for chat text fading
  • Stops docked chat tabs from being dragged
  • Hides the scroll, menu, and social buttons
  • Hides extra textures on chat frames
  • Hides the flashing effect on chat tabs
  • Hides channel notification messages
  • Hides repeated messages in public channels
  • Enables class colored names in all channels with a single click
  • Changes the text size in all chat frames from a single control
(*) As of Patch 5.4 using Up/Down to access previously entered chat lines without the Alt key is limited to non-secure commands only. If you need to access previously entered secure commands (like /cast or /use) you will still need to hold the Alt key.

(**) If a channel is sticky, then after talking in that channel, the chat input box will open to the same chat type again, rather than making you type “/g” or “/ra” again.
Options & Commands
  • Type “/pchat” for options, or find them in the Interface Options.
  • Type “/pchat clear” to clear all chat windows.
  • Type “/tt" or “/wt” to send a whisper to your current target.
Some additional options, such as customizing which channels are made sticky and what abbreviations are used for channel names, are available by editing the Core.lua file in a plain-text editor such as Notepad. If you break something, download a fresh copy and try again.

Please DO NOT send me PMs asking for help, reporting bugs, or requesting features. To report a bug or suggest a feature, see the instructions below. To get help, post a comment. I read and respond to every ticket and comment!
Feedback
Post a ticket or comment. If you are reporting a bug, please include directions I can follow to reproduce the bug, whether it still happens when all other addons are disabled, and the exact text of the related error message (if any) from Bugger.

The following features will never be added to PhanxChat, and requests for them will be deleted, so please just don't bother posting such requests:
  • Reskinned or recolored edit box, chat tabs, or anything else
  • Custom fonts, outlines, shadows, or text alignments
  • Freely movable/draggable edit box
  • Extra entries in the player name right-click menu
  • Extra click actions on player names (eg. alt-click to invite)
  • Alerts for specific words or message types seen in chat
  • Mouseover tooltips on item or other links
  • Keybindings to open specific chat channels
  • Nicknames, main/alt aliases, group numbers, levels, or any other extra text
  • Anything related to timestamps

I don't plan to add any cosmetic reskinning options to PhanxChat; specifically, I think it's important to be able to see the editbox when it's open, and don't see any value in making it invisible.

Even on the PTR, PhanxChat only touches the textures to make it look like the current live chat frame (eg. it should still look like your screenshot).
Hi,
Nope, this is what I expect to the edit box to look like. With a border that is. Yes, I was using another chat mod but it was too bloated so I tried your and like it much better. Sweet and simple. My original question was just if there was a way to turn off the border that I was missing. Obviously the answer is no and that's fine. I see your point that it's good to have a clear indicator that the edit box is open. Don't know how many times I have almost died from trying to run away and all confused about why I am not moving until I see the edit box full of w's... ouch!

I am finding in fact that I like all your mods so far. Tried this one and the broker LFG one... next I am going to try Grid. I want to see about using it to replace Healbot that I have used for years but keep hearing great thing about Grid. Wish me luck...

Thanks,
Twidget

Version 3.3.5.70-beta
  • Updated for patch 3.3.5. Not backwards compatible!
  • Added an “Enable resize edges” option to add resize controls along all edges of chat frames, and remove the bottom-left-corner resize arrow. This basically just restores pre-3.3.5 chat frame resizing functionality.
  • Added a “Hide extra textures” option to hide the extra textures on chat tabs and chat edit boxes added in patch 3.3.5.
  • Removed the “Enable mousewheel scrolling” option, since this functionality is now provided by the default UI.
  • Modified the default UI's mousewheel scrolling to scroll more lines at a time, page up/down on ctrl, and top/bottom on shift.
  • Fixed a bug preventing custom short channel name formats from using the channel name in addition to the channel number.
  • Translations are needed for the new options in all locales. Also, major revisions are needed for several locales. If you can assist with translations for any locale, please send me a PM.

----------------------------------------------------------------

@Ecks — The bug you reported has been fixed in the beta version for 3.3.5 public test realms. I don't plan to spend time backporting it to the current version for 3.3.3 live realms, though, sorry.

Is there something wrong with shortening channel names? I added %2 to CHANNEL_STYLE and I get this error every time I try to chat in a channel. I also don't see any messages from any channel.
Message: Interface\AddOns\PhanxChat\PhanxChat.lua:346: bad argument #2 to 'gsub' (string/function/table expected)

Aside from that, the only function or object mentioned in your taint log that PhanxChat does anything with at all is FCF_OnUpdate, and that only indirectly. You can try disabling PhanxChat's option to hide the chat buttons, and see if that helps (you'll need to reload the UI after disabling the option). If the errors stop happening, unfortunately there is nothing I can do to fix the problem, as the way Blizzard handles the chat buttons (among other things) does not offer a clean way for addons to modify them without opening the door to taint.

Finally, are you actually being prevented from doing something? If not, I'd recommend just installing BugSack, setting it to "ignore addon mistakes", and forgetting about the whole thing. My UI generates dozens of "action was blocked" messages (which I don't see, thanks to BugSack) but I've never actually been prevented from doing anything, or noticed any of my addons being unable to fulfill their purpose because of it.
Thank you. No, it doesn't actually cause a problem, it's just an annoying thing (for me) to see that message every time I log or /rl. I didn't actually know if there was some sort of problem, but I can honestly say that I have had absolutely zero problems with PhanxChat. Except for the annoying message, that is. I have had BugSack installed for quite a while now, so I am going to follow your recommendation to set it up to "ignore addon mistakes" and just "keep on keepin' on" with the game.

Thank you, again.

This is not a complaint! It's about an annoying occurrence every time I log into a character. I keep getting the "Interface action failed because of an AddOn". I saw in a post that you can type "/console taintlog 1" (disable it by typing "/console taintlog 0") in chat, do a "/rl" and then log out and check the "taint.log" file to see what caused it. Here's the file:

4/25 03:41:09.010 Execution tainted by PhanxChat while reading CombatLogQuickButtonFrame_Custom - Interface\FrameXML\FloatingChatFrame.lua:761 FCF_OnUpdate()
4/25 03:41:09.010 UIParent:OnUpdate()
4/25 03:41:09.010 An action was blocked because of taint from PhanxChat - SearchLFGLeave()
4/25 03:41:09.010 Interface\FrameXML\LFRFrame.lua:389 LFRBrowseFrame_OnUpdateAlways()
4/25 03:41:09.010 UIParent:OnUpdate()

Don't know if anyone else has this happening. If no one else is having the problem, just ignore it, please, and I apologize for posting something that might be caused by my personal combination of addons.

Ok I am sorry but this is an ambiguous answer for you.

After uninstalling recount and some other combat related addon that I completely forgot, the lua error no longer have occurred since so this was the error that is caused by other addons.

Thank you for the help!

Hmm. I'm not sure how that error is possible; it's basically saying that the chat frame it's trying to process a message in doesn't exist, but the function only runs when a message appears in that chat frame, so obviously it does exist...

Does the same error occur when you log in with all addons disabled except for PhanxChat?
