They had 20 people in an IRC channel.

Those who removed HealBot from their addons folder stopped their crashes. When they put HealBot back in they started crashing.

They spent an entire afternoon troubleshooting this and these are the results.

You can argue that _technically_ addon's shouldn't cause the wow client to crash but the results speak for themselves.

Addon's don't have access to memory management. At all. All memory allocation done by host application.

Memory leaks in addons can cause wow to crash. Its proven. I see this daily where addons crash wow. I'm a forum reg on the Tech Support Forum.

The problem is the predictive healing Blizz implemented and the predictive healing implemented by Healbot before Blizz did their own, is conflicting, causing the crash.

Its an EASY fix tho. Just have your addon set the cvar predictedHealth to 0, and your users will stop crashing.

Addon can't cause host application to crash. Just by the very nature of Lua language.
If your host application crash, it's the problem in host application.

Healbot is now causing wow to crash to an error 132 in 4.0.6.

To get around this, disable "incoming heals" in the WoW Interface.
Alternatively, you can disable predictive healing in healbot.

When this addon is updated, the predictedHealth cvar will need to be set to 0 when healbot's predicted healing is used, to stop from crashing wow..

Can you help me with this problem:
HoT's icons sometimes disappear from panel Healbot when I heal the raid.
For a druid it is very unpleasant. How can I fix that problem?

I was referring to 5mans, where the random selects the tank, healer and dps. Sometimes it's obvious when I'm grouped with say a rogue, warlock, and mage for instance, but when I get a DK, Warr, Pali and Druid, I have to ask who's tanking it. I even got into an argument yesterday because someone said "it's in your party frames" which I have disabled...... Even on my Lock (I use Healbot for all frames on all toons) I have to figure out who the healer is for Dark Intent..... The sort by HP could help, but I've found times where the DPS have just about the same HP, or before a druid gets into bear form, they have far less HP than when in bear form for instance..... Just thought maybe there was a way of getting role icons in =[

You could sub-sort each group by max HP, which puts tanks at the top.

Otherwise it's an unwritten rule that tanks go in group 1, heals in group 5.

Is it possible to show the DPS/TANK/HEALS icons in healbot? Be nice to know who the tank is without asking...... Haven't seen the option anywhere.....

Is it possible to hide HealBot when you're not in a group? I'd rather not have to enable/disable it, because doing so is 1) annoying and 2) sometimes changes my settings and spell assignments randomly.

Is it possible to just have it appear only when grouped?

You either confusing functionelity of the addons, or you were using this long before one year.
Changing key-to-spell bindings in combat is not possible since WoW 2.0.
If you want to hear from my own experience, the TotemTimers+HealBot makes a wonderful combo. But even without TT, you could set up shammy spells efficiently enough to just cast spells.

My own preference is (by L-M-R buttons):
Normal: Healing Wave/Chain Heal/Greater Healing Wave
+Ctrl: Riptide/Cleanse/Earth Shield
+Alt: Healing Surge/whatever/whatever

As has been mentioned above: No.

You have to use two different bindings, end of story.

Out of combat, it is possible to use smart logic. In combat - no way.

These are either recent changes (dispel mechanics) or haven't been around for many years (smart cast in combat).
