Grid  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 5.4.7.1653
by: Phanx, Greltok, Pastamancer
Grid is a compact and highly configurable party/raid unit frame addon.

Please do not use the Bug/Feature buttons to the right, or send me PMs asking for help, reporting bugs, or requesting features. Use the links below instead!

The compact grid of units lets you select a group member quickly, while keeping a good overview of the whole group. It shows as much information as possible without overloading you. It allows you to customize what information you see, and how you see it. It works in both party and raid groups, and supports pets and vehicles.

Want more features? The Grid core tries to include only features which are generally useful for all classes and roles, but makes it easy to add new features with a simple plugin API for developers. Over 75 third-party plugins are already available!

Type “/grid” for options, or right-click the minimap button, DataBroker launcher, or Grid frame tab.

Need Help?

IMPORTANT: If you are using any version of Grid other than the one posted on this page — such as an alpha version from WowAce — please do not post on this page about any problems you encounter with it. Alpha versions are development snapshots, are not officially supported, and may be buggy or broken, delete your settings, or crash your game. The release (and sometimes beta) versions posted to WoWInterface.com and Curse.com are actually tested.

✤ Problem with a plugin?
Contact the plugin’s author for help. The Grid team cannot provide support for third-party plugins.

✤ Have a suggestion?
Feel free to tell us about your idea, but please make sure there isn’t already a plugin that adds the feature you’re looking for first!

✤ Questions? Comments?

Language Support

Grid is compatible with English, Deutsch, Español, Français, Italiano, Português, Русский, 한국어, 简体中文, and 繁體中文 game clients.

Grid is translated into English, Deutsch, Español, Français, Italiano (partial), Português, Русский, 한국어, 简体中文, and 繁體中文.

To add or update translations for any language, enter them on the WowAce project page. New and updated translations will be automatically included in the next version of Grid!

Hint: The WowAce interface for adding translations is rather cumbersome. To make the process easier, you can use the Export function on WowAce, copy the exported data into Notepad, fill in your translations, and then paste the new data back into the system using the Import function.

Credits

Grid was originally conceived and written by Maia and Pastamancer in late 2006. Phanx has been the primary developer since late 2009. Jerry wrote the original pet support code. Mikk designed the icon. jlam added some advanced options for auras. Greltok has helped a lot with bugfixing. Finally, lots of people have contributed translations!
Version 5.4.7.1653
  • Added Soulstone support to the Incoming Resurrection status
  • Added an option to choose a layout to use in Flex Raids (Greltok)
  • Improved options layout for statuses with multiple colors (Greltok)
  • Most statuses will no longer try to update for units not in visible range (ticket #714)
  • Moved Grid's options to the standard Interface Options window, with an option to prefer the old standalone window
  • Removed combined count/duration option for aura text (feel free to use a plugin if you want to spam yourself)
  • [API] GridRoster's IsGUIDInRaid method has been renamed to IsGUIDInGroup. The old name still exists as an alias, but plugins are encouraged to update anyway.

Version 5.4.1.1628
  • Fixed dispellable debuff detection for priests with Mass Dispel
  • Added a combined count/duration display for aura text (Mikk)

Version 5.3.0.1621
  • Fixed switching to the "None" layout

Version 5.3.0.1618
  • Moved the drag tab up slightly to avoid overlapping the backdrop
  • Fixed an issue causing the Center Icon indicator to appear behind the frame
  • Fixed the icon display for the Unit Name status
  • Added support for druids dispelling diseases with Cleanse via Symbiosis cast on a paladin

Version 5.3.0.1611
  • Fixed a frame layering issue

  • Fixed the "World Raid as 40 Player" option (thanks Greltok)
  • Fixed the default aura status for Eternal Flame
  • Fixed errors from the resurrection status module

Version 5.2.0.1573

  • Changed the "Hide tab" and "Hide minimap icon" option to "Show tab" and "Show minimap icon" -- translators should verify the localization of these options

Version 5.1.0.1553
  • Updated for WoW 5.1

Version 5.0.5.1552
  • Fixed delays in updating for group changes in battlegrounds (ticket #631)

  • Added default buffs for monks.

  • Grid is now hidden during pet battles (ticket #643).
  • Status opacity now has its own option, instead of being part of the status color option.
  • Fixed an issue with range checking while solo (ticket #627).
  • Fixed an issue causing icons to be hidden on auras with duration text or coloring enabled (ticket #644).
  • Removed backwards compatibility with WoW 4.x.
  • The Resurrect status module now uses LibResInfo-1.0.

  • Fixed the text color when disabling the "Invert text color" option.
  • Fixed range checking on dead targets for monks.
  • Fixed the Resurrection module's handling of res casts on targets who already had a res available.

  • Added monks to the By Class layouts.
  • Added the Blizzard raid bar texture.
  • Increased the default font size from 11 to 12.
  • Increased the default width of the config frame to prevent random wrapping bugs.
  • [API] Status parameter may be passed as either the traditional argument list, or as a table.
  • [API] Status "range" parameter is now treated as a boolean, not a number.

Version 4.3.4.1485-beta
  • Added a new Resurrect status module.
    • Please report any and all issues with this to the WowAce ticket tracker!
    • If you use the GridStatusRes plugin, you should disable it, or unassign its "Incoming resurrection" and "Resurrected" statuses from all indicators.
    • Core support for Soulstones will be added in a future release.
  • Fixed range checking on dead units (ticket #566).
  • Fixed the options for removing custom auras (thanks jlam).
  • Fixed an issue that caused some Frame settings not to be updated when switching to another profile (ticket #556).
  • Fixed an issue that sometimes caused borders and text to appear blurry or distorted when UI scaling is disabled.
  • Improved range checking on dead units for death knights, druids, and warlocks.

  • Added options for showing duration and/or stack count using the status color and/or text (ticket #421, patch provided by Jlam).

  • The options frame layout has been improved. Note that some plugins (such as those that add new indicators) may cause the options layout to break to some degree until they are updated.
  • Fixed a bug causing frames and groups to be misaligned (ticket #447).
  • Buffs with "Show mine" selected will no longer display for units out of visible range (ticket #438).
  • Buffs with "Show when missing" selected will now correctly display on icon indicators (ticket #412).
  • Third-party modules will now be correctly included in the Debug menu.

  • Pets other than your own should now be displayed.

Version 1.40000.1360-alpha
  • Updated for Patch 4.0.1 and Cataclysm
  • Typing "/grid" will now open a real configuration UI.
  • Incoming heal data is now obtained from the WoW client itself. LibHealComm-4.0 is no longer supported.

and I got something else I wanted to ask, I took a screenshot: http://img198.imageshack.us/f/griday.jpg/ the frame options frame looks broken (i can't scroll down there) and I'm getting 2 texttimers for the center icon, any idea what could cause this?
There are two things causing that:

1. You're using an alpha version of Grid. The main description states quite clearly that if you're using an alpha version from CurseForge, that you should not post here. Alphas are often untested, unstable, or just plain broken. You should only use them if you understand that and are comfortable reverting versions or fixing problems yourself.

2. You're using plugins that haven't been updated for said alpha version of Grid.

Guess I'm not the only one getting this issue.
I'm using the latest build, version 1.40000.1370

Any way to fix this? Or shall we wait till there's an update for 4.0.3

I'm getting 5man diagonal groups occasionally, but only after I do a reloadui in an instance. Just making a comment about it because I don't feel like filling out a bug report. And it only happens if I reloadui in a dungeon, so I can avoid it.

Can't isolate the problem so meh. I figure someone will fix it eventually.

Here is my temporary hackish fix for the diagonal group bug:
In the file GridLayout.lua, set the yOffset in line 122 to the negative value of your frame height.

Then I use horizontal groups with bottom left anchors and everything looks fine.

Anyone have problems with not being able to heal group 2 only. Does not seems to matter if its 10 or 25 or 40 man raids. Everything works great but group 2.

Grid doesn't heal anyone. You can click on units in Grid to target them, and then cast a heal on them. You can cast a heal, and then click on a unit in Grid to target the heal on them. Or you can use a third-party addon like Clique to bind heals to specific click combinations on the frame.

So, I assume you mean you cannot click on the unit frames in Group 2, in which case you probably have some other addon creating an invisible frame that sits in the same place as Grid's second group. Type "/framestack" and move the cursor over the area you can't click. You should see a list of frames under the cursor. If you see, for example, "Bartender4Bar72" in the list, then the problem is most likely an invisible bar from the Bartender4 addon.

Hi, yes i have used Grid for several years now, i am very familiar with how it works. I did manage to figure out the problem with not being able to click heal only on group 2.

I had noticed on some of my toons it worked perfectly as always. However on my newly leveled 80 Paly, it would not work even with only grid/clique as the only addons. After many hours of WTFs, i noticed my paly was the only toon that had ASCII charaters in its name. All the normal lettered names worked perfectly.

SO, i paid the 10 bucks, did the name change, and BOOM it works perfectly now.

To test I then created a new toon with Ascii characters in the name, had a guildee vite me and make raid group. Could not heal him in group 2. But could it group 1 just fine.

Glad it works now, cause Healbot was a pain after using Grid this long.

Well, since Grid does not itself support click-casting, I'm not sure how that could be a bug in Grid. I'm also not sure how that could be a problem in Clique, unless you're using some weird custom macro that refers to the character's name. I have any number of people in my guild with non-ASCII characters in their names, and have never had a problem click-casting on them with Grid and Clique.

hi!
first of all: great addon!
i was wondering where (in GridFrame.lua) i cud change my font and frame texture. i 'cant' change it in the config ingame since grid only gives me (part of) the fonts and textures path (i.e. Interface\Addons\Sh...) for some reason. and since i have about 20 fonts in that directory and 10 frame textures and my grid frames are rather small its not that easy to figure out whats the font/frame texture i want. i know their names thou so changing it in the script wud be np if i only knew where
thx in advance!

Cud is what cows, sheep, and other ruminants chew on. It only takes you a fraction of a second to press the Shift key to capitalize a sentence, or to press the comma key to break up your giant run-on sentence into comprehensible chunks. It takes far more time for other people to sift through your bastardized mating of AOL chatrooms and retarded SMS lingo and figure out what the hell you're trying to say.

That said, if you're seeing file paths instead of fonts or textures, that means you're missing one of the libraries Grid uses to build its configuration window. Since that library is included in Grid, either you intentionally removed it, or you did not install the addon correctly, or there was some problem with your download. Completely delete the addon's folder and reinstall it from a fresh download. If you still can't see the fonts or textures, log out and edit Grid's saved variables file, or use the console options to set the font/texture using chat commands ("/grid GridFrame" and read the list of available commands).

Weird alignment/positioning problem

http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...azcar/grid.png

Anyone seen this before? (No, it's not photoshopped, and no, it's not by configuration.. it should be a 5 by 5 grid with another 5 by 5 grid for the pets below the players).

Sometimes, some of the players will be stacked up on each other, and I can't even click on the person behind.

This may have been resolved in the most recent Clique release:

Fix group header template click applications

There was a problem with some frames (Pitbull party frames, for example)
that was causing out of combat bindings to not properly apply. This was
due to a weird behaviour of the secure environment system.
