Grid  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 8.0.1.1
by: Phanx [More]

Grid has been continued as Plexus by Doadin. Use that instead; Grid has not been updated since 2018 and will not be updated in the future.

Grid is a compact and highly configurable party/raid unit frame addon.
The compact grid of unit frames lets you select a group member quickly, while keeping a good overview of the whole group. It shows as much information as possible without overloading you. It allows you to customize what information you see, and how you see it. It works in both party and raid groups, and supports pets and vehicles.

Want more features? The Grid core tries to include only features which are generally useful for all classes and roles, but makes it easy to add new features with a simple plugin API for developers. Over 75 third-party plugins are already available!

Type “/grid” for options, or right-click the minimap button, DataBroker launcher, or Grid frame tab.

Language Support
Grid is compatible with all World of Warcraft localizations. It is currently translated into English, Deutsch, Español, Français, Italiano, Português, Русский, 한국어, 简体中文, and 繁體中文.

To add or update translations for any language, enter them on the WowAce project page. New and updated translations will be automatically included in the next version of Grid!

HINT: The WowAce interface for adding translations is quite cumbersome. To make the process easier, you can use the Export function on WowAce, copy the exported data into your text editor, fill in your translations, and then paste them back into WowAce using the Import function.
Credits
Grid was originally conceived and written by Maia and Pastamancer in late 2006. Phanx has been the primary developer since late 2009. Jerry wrote the original pet support code. Mikk designed the icon. jlam added some advanced options for auras. Greltok has helped a lot with bugfixing. Finally, lots of people have contributed translations!

If I set the 'health deficit' percentage to say 10%, grid will not update, until it hits that percentage, so it will go from full to whatever health below that threshold, correct?

Second, where can I switch the grid health status to show current health as opposed to deficit?

Thanks for the response

Love this addon but a couple of things are making me stick with healbot.

In Healbot you have a tooltip showing the spells, and how much mana etc, would this be doable, or is this something I should ask the Clique author?

Also, Is there an option to move the icons to the corners, and if there an option to show health, in ###k and %. Thanks

grid & clique

grid doesn't seem to be working with clique correctly. every so often certain clicks wont register. reloading the ui fixes it, but it happens during combat at times and i can't just reload ui all the time. i'm not sure if i've got it set up wrong, is there a standard configuration that works with clique?

Not quite sure how it took me so long to get round to this. Anyway, the following was the response of the macro.

Has vehicle UI? Y
Pet GUID: 0xF150706D0000014B

Hopefully that's what it was supposed to show. Just for clarification, I was actually riding a Demolisher when I ran the macro.

The layout is selected by zone type for arenas and battlegrounds (including outdoor PvP zones), and by the current raid difficulty setting everywhere else. Go under "10-Player Raid" and/or "25-Player Raid" and set the layout for those group types to "By Group 40".

Grid uses the WoW API to query the current raid size/difficulty, and since there aren't any 40-man raids in current content, Blizzard didn't include support for them in the API. Unless that changes, Grid probably won't ever have any detection for situations where you might want a 40-man layout outside of battlegrounds.

Also, it appears as if certain vehicles aren't adopting the 'In Vehicle' status colour. A specific example is the Strand of the Ancients Demolisher. Even if it was me controlling it, Grid showed my frame as grey instead of green (Green being the colour I had chosen for this status).
Run this macro next time you're there, and report back with what it printed to your chat frame:

/run print("Has vehicle UI?",UnitHasVehicleUI("player") and "Y" or "N") local p=Grid:GetModule("GridRoster"):GetPetUnitidByUnitid("player") if p then print("Pet GUID:",UnitGUID(p) or "nil") else print("No pet!") end

I have 2 queries but I'm not sure if they are bugs or not, so to avoid confusion, I'm checking first.

About a week ago I was in a raid for 'For the Horde!' (the faction leaders achievement). We had 40 players but Grid was only showing 10. I checked for a 40 man layout but I couldn't find one. I made all layouts 40 man but nothing changed, even with a reload.

Is this intended? Does Grid support 40 man raids? I understand that they don't occur much anymore but healing something like For the Horde! is pretty hard when you have 40 people in a PvP situation.

Also, it appears as if certain vehicles aren't adopting the 'In Vehicle' status colour. A specific example is the Strand of the Ancients Demolisher. Even if it was me controlling it, Grid showed my frame as grey instead of green (Green being the colour I had chosen for this status).

The only other statuses that I have selected under health bar colour are 'Death Warning', 'Offline Warning' and 'Unit Health'. 'Offline Warning' is the only one of these coloured grey. My suspicion is that either the 'Offline Warning' is interfering or Demolishers are classed as an unknown unit which are also coloured grey for me. Priorities have been set but did not resolve this.

Neither are particularly problematic but just things I noticed under their respective conditions.

The text you type in is the text Grid uses to see if a buff on someone is a buff you care about. The Lua programming language is case-sensitive, so if you type in "arcane brilliance", then Grid will look for buffs named "arcane brilliance", not buffs named "Arcane Brilliance".

The color of the incoming heals aren't what they're supposed to be, they're still the class color instead of the bright green i set it to.
The healing bar's color is derived from the health bar's color, and ignores the color of whatever status it's displaying. There's a ticket open on CurseForge requesting an option to change this, and it might happen someday, but for now that's how it is.

Is there anyways to have test boxes to I can configure it with the rest of my UI without having to be in a raid?
No, and both myself and Pastmancer have explained why dozens of times. Search here or in the Wowace forum thread if you care.

I can't get this release to detect any of my custom buffs. I didn't have this issue in WoTLK.

Is this a bug or is anyone else having these issues? I've gone through all the settings and can't find anything that might help. The buff I'd really like to get working is arcane brilliance.

thanks!

NM Fixed it. You can't shift+click and you need to type it with caps and all =)

I would swear you used to be able to shift click though..

I'm having a problem with the incoming heals. The color of the incoming heals aren't what they're supposed to be, they're still the class color instead of the bright green i set it to.
i tried changing the line in the code, displayed in ticket 193, but since the code changed a lot the lines are different. i think i changed the correct ones, but it just messed up everything, range, color, alpha, ... so i changed it back.
i'm using the release version found on wowinterface and curse fyi.

anything i can do to fix it? or is there an ETA for any planned changes that would resolve this issue?

thank you very much

Alpha versions are development snapshots. They may be buggy, or they may not work at all. They may erase your settings. They are not tested thoroughly, if at all. In many cases, I write code while I'm at work, and commit it to the repository to test later when I'm at home. I do not provide any support for alpha versions. This is even stated in bold text in the addon description here:

If you downloaded Grid from wowace.com, or through the Curse Client, please do not post here. The WoWInterface releases are actually tested. Anything from wowace.com is bleeding-edge and may or may not work.
If you are not comfortable using untested, unstable, and unsupported development snapshots, don't download alpha versions. Stick to beta and release versions.

Might want to consider adding the range check as an option for the Frame Alpha before updating 1406 to Beta or Release status.
Range checking is being rewritten, and is more likely than not to be broken in any given alpha version at the moment. If you do not understand what alpha versions are, don't use them.

I want to see everyones health, even when out of range for heals. I want to see everyone who has X debuff or Y Buff, even when out of range. I just want their Frame Alpha to fade when they are out of range for me to heal them.

That was with 1406, so it was an Alpha version. I'm reverting back to 1403. Might want to consider adding the range check as an option for the Frame Alpha before updating 1406 to Beta or Release status.
Yes, this is why I came here to try and figure why i no longer can see who is out of range. I have to revert back too I can't be wasting time trying to heal people who are out of my range. Can you put the range function back in the new version?

The grid on the left side ... How in the world do I get rid of that?
Grid only makes one set of frames, and I’m not familiar with the UI you linked, sorry. Have you tried asking the UI’s uploader?

kubasniak:
I have checked ENABLE ICON COOLDOWN FRAME and ENABLE ICON STACK TEXT and both DOESN'T WORK. I don't know why, I downloaded a plugin GridIndicatorSideIcons and I checked the same both options and it doesn't work too. I see the renew icon but I don't see a cooldown frame on it. Same with cooldown text plugin for grid. Nothing works. It works when I check Configuration Mode then I see stacks and cooldown frame.
The icon cooldown frame and icon stack text are part of the default “Center Icon” indicator, so the options to show them or not won’t have any effect on indicators added by plugins. Also, even if you enable them, they are only shown if the currently active status includes duration or stack information. Which statuses have you tried on the Center Icon indicator?

Also, I’m not sure what you mean by “Configuration Mode”, since Grid doesn’t have one!

nammerduong:
I was able to set it so that when I join a dungeon group or any normal party, the default party frames wont appear.
Grid doesn’t hide any default UI frames. Maybe your primary unit frame addon (player and target frames) had that feature? If not, you can always install HideBlizzard.
