Grid  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 8.0.1.1
by: Phanx [More]

Grid has been continued as Plexus by Doadin. Use that instead; Grid has not been updated since 2018 and will not be updated in the future.

Grid is a compact and highly configurable party/raid unit frame addon.
The compact grid of unit frames lets you select a group member quickly, while keeping a good overview of the whole group. It shows as much information as possible without overloading you. It allows you to customize what information you see, and how you see it. It works in both party and raid groups, and supports pets and vehicles.

Want more features? The Grid core tries to include only features which are generally useful for all classes and roles, but makes it easy to add new features with a simple plugin API for developers. Over 75 third-party plugins are already available!

Type “/grid” for options, or right-click the minimap button, DataBroker launcher, or Grid frame tab.

Language Support
Grid is compatible with all World of Warcraft localizations. It is currently translated into English, Deutsch, Español, Français, Italiano, Português, Русский, 한국어, 简体中文, and 繁體中文.

To add or update translations for any language, enter them on the WowAce project page. New and updated translations will be automatically included in the next version of Grid!

HINT: The WowAce interface for adding translations is quite cumbersome. To make the process easier, you can use the Export function on WowAce, copy the exported data into your text editor, fill in your translations, and then paste them back into WowAce using the Import function.
Credits
Grid was originally conceived and written by Maia and Pastamancer in late 2006. Phanx has been the primary developer since late 2009. Jerry wrote the original pet support code. Mikk designed the icon. jlam added some advanced options for auras. Greltok has helped a lot with bugfixing. Finally, lots of people have contributed translations!

Is there any way to fix GRID frame obstructing working orders frame in the garrison? I see no option to set frame strata or anything like that.

What version (actual number, not "latest" or some other buzzword) are you using? What are your layout settings? Does the problem still happen on a new fresh profile?

This is even more noticeable in Ashran. When you are sitting at your base you see the full raid (Grid). You then move to one of the events and Grid frames change to show your group only. As a healer this is very frustrating.

1. Grid > Status > Auras > Rejuvenation > Enable (if it's not already)

2. Grid > Indicators > (any indicator of your choice, eg. Center Icon or Top Left Corner) > check Rejuvenation

If you mean that you just want to see icons for every single buff on each unit, that's about the opposite of what Grid was designed for, and Grid does not, and will never, include such a feature. The whole point of Grid is to cut out all the extra stuff you don't actually need to see. That's why you have to pick the specific buffs you want to see, rather than using a blacklist system (eg. "show all buffs except these ones"). Most buffs are not relevant to your immediate gameplay, and you don't need to see them.

Raid frames

I have an issue with the raid frames, I like the default blizzard raid frames and how it shows the icons when I put a rejuv or what not on the target, but with the Grid I don't know how to show that if anyone knows how let me know please.

Re: Sorting by group?

You'll need to use a "by group" layout (pick the one appropriate for your raid size, so in a 25-player raid you'd want to use "by group 25", not "by group 5") instead of a "by class" layout, and additionally either edit the contents of Layouts.lua to specify sorting by INDEX instead of NAME for each group, or just use the GridSortLikeWoW plugin.

Exclamation Sorting by group?

Hello!

Sorry to bother for such a simple question, but I love your addon, and I don't want to give it up. Is it possible to setup Grid to sort by the groups setup in the Blizzard UI (Group numbers)? For some weird reason when I do LFR, Grid is sorting the 25 players by their class (see screenshot), not by the group they are in, and I know someone didn't sort the groups in the blizzard UI and put all of the classes together.

I tried your option in "Layout" for "25 Player Raid Layout" as "By Group 5", but nothing seemed to change in the window, it still remained as a 25 man window and still sorted by class; not by the appropriate group they were in.

Is this possible?

Sorry again for such a mundane question and thank you for this addon!

No, but it would not make sense for Grid to remove the raid manager, since Grid does not provide any of the features the raid manager provides.

You didn't post the actual error message you're getting (#1 rule of error reporting -- always, always post the error message if there is one!) but it sounds like you have some addon (almost certainly not an Ace library itself) tainting things. The real solution to that problem would be to figure out which addon is actually causing the problem and update/disable/replace it, but another option would be to install one of the numerous addons that does nothing but disable the raid manager, typically by disabling the Blizzard "addons" that create it.

Hmm, I am aware that I can toggle the collapse/expand of the default raid frames from the raid frame manager, but I am not seeing an interface option which lets me remove the raid frame manager and the default raid frames all together... as in... completely gone. You're saying there is an option to do this?

I am attempting to replace the default raid frames to rid myself of a pesky error that occurs when someone leaves or joins the raid mid-combat. It's very bothersome, and from the error messages, appears to be related to something with Ace. I figure, if there's an issue with them playing well together I might as well chuck the whole thing out and replace the raid frames all together. I am not about to stop using Broker, Bartender, or any of the other countless addons that use Ace just to have the default raid frames be at peace.
