Grid  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 8.0.1.1
by: Phanx [More]

Grid has been continued as Plexus by Doadin. Use that instead; Grid has not been updated since 2018 and will not be updated in the future.

Grid is a compact and highly configurable party/raid unit frame addon.
The compact grid of unit frames lets you select a group member quickly, while keeping a good overview of the whole group. It shows as much information as possible without overloading you. It allows you to customize what information you see, and how you see it. It works in both party and raid groups, and supports pets and vehicles.

Want more features? The Grid core tries to include only features which are generally useful for all classes and roles, but makes it easy to add new features with a simple plugin API for developers. Over 75 third-party plugins are already available!

Type “/grid” for options, or right-click the minimap button, DataBroker launcher, or Grid frame tab.

Language Support
Grid is compatible with all World of Warcraft localizations. It is currently translated into English, Deutsch, Español, Français, Italiano, Português, Русский, 한국어, 简体中文, and 繁體中文.

To add or update translations for any language, enter them on the WowAce project page. New and updated translations will be automatically included in the next version of Grid!

HINT: The WowAce interface for adding translations is quite cumbersome. To make the process easier, you can use the Export function on WowAce, copy the exported data into your text editor, fill in your translations, and then paste them back into WowAce using the Import function.
Credits
Grid was originally conceived and written by Maia and Pastamancer in late 2006. Phanx has been the primary developer since late 2009. Jerry wrote the original pet support code. Mikk designed the icon. jlam added some advanced options for auras. Greltok has helped a lot with bugfixing. Finally, lots of people have contributed translations!

No, and putting half your raid on each side of the screen is pretty much the polar opposite of everything Grid was designed for.

Re: Re: targeting

And "/assist mouseover" is shorter than "/target mouseovertarget".

You could also, for instance, make a macro in clique like this:
Code:
/cast [@mouseover,help,nodead] Intervene
/target mouseovertarget

Re: targeting

@Thayloo:
  1. Download and install Clique.
  2. Log into WoW, open your spellbook, and click the new Clique tab along the right edge, underneath your normal tabs.
  3. In the dropdown at the top of the Clique window, select "Helpful Actions"... unless you want to also assist hostile targets (click-bindings set up through Clique affect all unit frames, though if you really only want it to affect Grid, you can tell it to ignore all other frames).
  4. Click the "Custom" button at the bottom of the Clique window.
  5. In the window that pops up, click the "Assist unit" radio button.
  6. Left-click on the set-binding button (I don't remember offhand what it says before you've set a binding, but it's the button in the middle of the window).
  7. Click "Save" and close all the windows. You should be all set.
If you want left-click-to-assist to only happen on Grid frames, follow the instructions on the Clique download page under "How do I STOP Clique from click-casting on a specific frame, but leave it active on others" to disable the binding on all non-Grid frames.

There are no plans to discontinue Grid. Grid2 is by a different author. It was intended to replace Grid, but is still nowhere near ready for a general public release. Personally, I disagree with the basic design philosophies of Grid2's current maintainer (the original author is no longer active), and as I find Grid an invaluable part of my WoW gameplay, I will continue to maintain it even if Grid2 makes it to a stable release stage.

No worries, I was just wanting a little more automation in my switching, like something that will change to x profile when I join a raid group. I'll look around the Grid addons and see if there is one. Thanks for a great unit frame addon!

No. That's exactly the kind of thing profiles were designed for...

Sorry if this has been answered before. Is there a way, other than profiles, to put the 5 man layout in a different place on screen than the 10 man layout and so on? Kind of like Pitbull withou the memory. Thanks in advance.

Use gridstatusrole and one of the side or corner icons modules. I use gridstatussideicons and put the role on the left side.

is it possible with the new LFG system once you get into a group every player in the party has a symbol next to there name saying what role they are within the group to enable this with grid?

No. There are tons of addons which can hide the Blizzard party frames. Check out "HideBlizzard" on this site for one option.
