Grid  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 8.0.1.1
by: Phanx [More]

Grid has been continued as Plexus by Doadin. Use that instead; Grid has not been updated since 2018 and will not be updated in the future.

Grid is a compact and highly configurable party/raid unit frame addon.
The compact grid of unit frames lets you select a group member quickly, while keeping a good overview of the whole group. It shows as much information as possible without overloading you. It allows you to customize what information you see, and how you see it. It works in both party and raid groups, and supports pets and vehicles.

Want more features? The Grid core tries to include only features which are generally useful for all classes and roles, but makes it easy to add new features with a simple plugin API for developers. Over 75 third-party plugins are already available!

Type “/grid” for options, or right-click the minimap button, DataBroker launcher, or Grid frame tab.

Language Support
Grid is compatible with all World of Warcraft localizations. It is currently translated into English, Deutsch, Español, Français, Italiano, Português, Русский, 한국어, 简体中文, and 繁體中文.

To add or update translations for any language, enter them on the WowAce project page. New and updated translations will be automatically included in the next version of Grid!

HINT: The WowAce interface for adding translations is quite cumbersome. To make the process easier, you can use the Export function on WowAce, copy the exported data into your text editor, fill in your translations, and then paste them back into WowAce using the Import function.
Credits
Grid was originally conceived and written by Maia and Pastamancer in late 2006. Phanx has been the primary developer since late 2009. Jerry wrote the original pet support code. Mikk designed the icon. jlam added some advanced options for auras. Greltok has helped a lot with bugfixing. Finally, lots of people have contributed translations!

Searching for "grid layout" over on WowAce turned up, on the first page of results:As I've never wanted such a feature, I've never used any of those plugins and couldn't tell you which ones, if any, will provide it, so you're on your own figuring out which one to use.

Or, like I said, you could just set up different profiles, and switch between them yourself:

/grid profile choose Default
/grid profile choose Bigger Frames
/grid profile choose Smaller Frames
/grid profile choose blah blah profile name 43902432

Oh. Well, that's not actually possible; the health bar background is derived from the health bar's color, or vice versa, depending on whether or not you have enabled the "Invert health bar color" option. What you're currently seeing, according to your screeshot, is either a bug, or caused by setting the Unit Health status color to gray, enabling the Health Bar Color indicator, and assigning a status to that indicator that's always active and has its color set to green. If you haven't done those things, and want that effect, you should be able to approximate it by playing with the aforementioned settings. At this time there are no plans to separate the foreground and background colors of the health bar.

I don't use any plugins - just the default package. What i would have liked is just a 'how to' on setting up a simple health bar that has one color for health and another for the background.

But i understand that it is a very complicated addon; thanks for your time.

The reason I brought up being able to move the player name is because it can be difficult to see raid icons as center icon when obscured by names. Thanks for getting back to me though.

This has prob been asked before but I really like the option to set the different layouts for different raids but is it possible to have it change the overall look of grid for each layout. or am I missing something in the config

thanks

Without knowing all of your settings, and which (if any) plugins you use, I couldn't tell you what the problem is. The quickest solution is probably just to delete your saved variables and start over. (See my post further down this page for instructions on how to do that.)

Not going to happen.

What do you mean? Individual unit frames already have a border. Assign statuses to it under Frame > Frame Border.

Having a little problem with the config, and wondered if anyone can point me in the correct direction.

Can anyone tell me which settings to tinker with?

And thanks very much for developing this addon, it sure is a wonderful one!

What I'd like to see:

Move name text of player up and down along the Y axis

Frame border around individual frames.

The Unit Name status in Grid is working just fine; no "update" is needed. Rather, it sounds like you unassigned the Unit Name status from the Center Text indicator. Make sure it's assigned:

Frame > Center Text > make sure Unit Name is checked

If that doesn't work, the problem is almost certainly some other setting you changed. Since I have no way to tell what settings you've changed, I'd advise completely clearing your settings by deleting Grid's saved variables file (deleting and reinstalling an addon doesn't clear its saved settings):

World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\YOUR ACCOUNT NAME\SavedVariables\Grid.lua

Thank you! I did what you said about deleting SavedVariables and it worked!
