Prankstars Elegant UI  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 3.0.8

Prankstars
Elegant UI
Version 3

Improved default World of Warcraft Interface

With the release of Battle for Azeroth, I have also chosen to "go back to one's root". Meaning that the design of the UI will change and move back to a default WoW look.
But even though it's like default, it has various improvements - such as pixel perfect artwork, aligned artwork, bigger unit frames etc.

Consider Prankstars Elegant UI an improved default UI. But the layout is still the same as before, but no more Legion or Iron Horde artwork. Instead you can have the default look, or switch to a darkened look (almost black).

Contact me here, or on Reddit, for help or questions.

See more detailed images

How to install
  1. Browse to your World of Warcraft folder and backup your WTF & Interface folders
  2. After the backup, disable all addons (and then re enable as you need) OR delete the old WTF & Interface folders. This makes sure you don't have any other conflicting addons (such as bartender).
  3. Extract the WTF & Interface folders from PrankUI3.zip
  4. Copy Config.wtf from your old WTF folder into the new WTF folder
  5. Rename [RENAME TO ACCOUNT NAME] to whatever your account name is. You can find your account name from the old WTF folder
  6. Launch World of Warcraft and in your character screen, hit the button "Addons" in the lower left corner, and make sure all addons are enabled (even the outdated ones!)
  7. Login to a character and type "/prankui" (without the quotes) in chat to finalize the UI
  8. You're now ready to play. Type "/prankui" again to change layout if you want

How to use
  • You can easily add more actionbar buttons to the right of the screen if needed
  • Pr. default Skada isn't shown when solo, but you can toggle it on easily
  • The Bag bar and Micro menu is hidden until hovered over the corresponding buttons next to the main action bar.

FAQ
  • I can't find my Account name
    • It should either be a name, random set of numbers or "Wow1"
    • Default folder path: (C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft\WTF\Account)
  • How do i make changes to the UI?
    • Just as you normally would. My setup addon only set some profiles in other addons.
    • If you want to make sure that your changes are shared across all your toons, you can make the changes directly in the "PrankUI" and "Default" profiles, and then when you use "/prankui" on new characters, they will inherit your changes.
  • Is this UI only for Warlocks?
    • No! This UI is for all characters
  • Can i use something else than Skada for damage meters?
    • Yes you can! But having the artwork to follow over requires some knowledge with kgPanels and simple LUA scripting

Are you sure you followed all the steps exactly? Depending on what you're looking at, i could try and pin point your issue. PM me a screenshot and lets have a look at it

Great UI!

Wow, this UI looks amazing on a big high-res monitor. All the edges are sharp, and it's very easy to use. Excellent job, and thank you very much!

There is so much maintenance and work in order to support the two current skins in the same setup. So right now i'm taking my UI to a event more "elegant" state, and bring it visually wise back to a more default feel.

I take the default UI artwork, and work with it in photoshop, just like i've done with the other UI's so its just not 100% like default. Here is some WIP images i can share. I plan to have two options aswell, but one for default and one for darkmode, kinda like this.

I've been reported that it is not solving the issue 100%, the raid frames are bugged.

But you need to enable file extensions in windows explorer. It is named .txt (but its hidden), thats why its opening notepad. So enable show file extensions in windows explorer, and you can remove the ".txt" part.

Thumbs up Killer UI

I recently returned to wow after a year and found your UI last month. I really love the look and being able to switch between Legion and Wod looks. Are you going to keep this up when you add BfA's new look so one can toggle between all 3? Also thanks for adding the fix for the white blocks very much appreciated!

Update in the works

Thanks for the kind words.

So yea, the pre BFA patch arrived, and with that the UI is kinda rekt. An fast fix for the white boxes, so it's atleast playable go into your addons folder > Shared Media and rename "MyMedia.bat.txt" to MyMedia.bat" and open that file. This will re apply the artwork so the white boxes disapear.

Just FYI, i am working on a version 3.0, which will be more simple in regards of design. It will have a very much look'n'feel to default UI, but the layout will still stay the same. My UI will move into a more "improved default" state now, unless next expansion has some cool artwork like WoD and Legion had.

But as all others, i am atm waiting for the addons i'm using in my UI to be updated, so i can finalize the new UI.

Just passing by to say thank you!

I recently came back to WoW after a year's hiatus and kept using other UIs but it just wasn't the same without this one, this was always at the back of my mind. Finally was able to find it again and I remember why I like it so much. This is my absolutely favorite UI for WoW. It's simple but not too much and I love the design it really fits the theme of the expansions

Thank you very much for the kind words.

So the ironhorde and legion look will be discontinued, and only live in this version 2.

Right now i'm working on bringing the UI back to default look and feel, but with obvious twists and overall (IMO) a better look. I like the direction blizzard went with the default BFA UI changes, but i'm gonna improve on it as much as i can.

Heres a few, but now old, teaser images:
