Better Battle Pet Tooltip

I am no longer developing or maintaining World of Warcraft addons. I haven't played in years, and don't have the time or interest to continue working on addons for a game I don't play anymore. Adds your highest collected level and best collected quality to battle pet tooltips.

Features

It works with unit tooltips for wild battle pets, item tooltips for caged battle pets and items that teach battle pets, and minimap tracking tooltips.

The default "Collected (1/3)" text is changed to "Collected (Level 25)", to indicate the level of your collected pet, and both the text and the tooltip border are colored by the rarity of your collected pet.

Colorblind users will be shown the rarity name (eg. "Rare") at the end of the info line, and the text won't be colored.

For wild pets you have already fought, but forfeited out of the battle, the tooltip for that pet will show its quality. This can be helpful for pets that travel in groups, so you can easily see which ones you haven't checked for quality yet. Please note that this only works for unit tooltips (not minimap tracking tooltips) and only for that individual pet (not others of the same type). This information is not saved between login sessions or UI reloads.

Options

Type /bbpt to open the options panel, or browse to it in the game’s Interface Options window.

Feedback

Post a comment. If you are reporting a bug, please include directions I can follow to reproduce the bug, whether it still happens when all other addons are disabled, and the exact text of the related error message (if any) as shown in Bugger/BugSack/Swatter.

Please note that I consider this addon to be complete, and will probably not add any new features.

Works in all locales. Translated into English, Deutsch, Español, Français, Italiano, Português, Русский.

But for some reason after a few days it starts bugging out over the minimap. When I hover over a pet paw there, it initially shows the standard tooltip (just the name of the pet, no level info) but if I hover over it again it starts spamming like CRAZY with the level info. It scrolls up and up on my screen until I move away from the paw print. This has happened a lot with me over the course of using this addon, I don't know if it conflicts with specific addons or if others have seen this happen. I just thought I would let you know what I saw. :-)

If you have already collected the pet, the color indicates the highest quality you've collected. Otherwise, it indicates the quality of the tooltip's pet, if known. It does sound a bit inconsistent written out that way... I guess it should just always show the tooltip's pet quality, maybe just highlighting (eg. with the same orange used for the "not collected" text) if it's an upgrade. I'm open to suggestions.

I understand that config bloat isn't something one should aim for. However in my tooltip style (plain simple black outer glow), this messes up my "feeling" quite a bit. Also the reason why which color is used is not quite obvious:

Forum posts: 5617 File comments: 2321 Uploads: 54	Those messages are there for a reason -- they indicate that the tooltip is showing an item that teaches a pet, but the addon is missing data about which pet the item teaches. Please post the full text of the message so I can add the missing data. If you are actually seeing this message printed when you mouse over a wild pet unit -- not an item -- please report back with which language you play WoW in, whether the same pet triggers the same message when all other addons are disabled, and a screenshot of the tooltip. The only way this should be able to happen is if Blizzard or another addon is adding a "Not Collected" line to the tooltip for a unit that isn't actually capturable. Also, you should not be able to get "a ton" of these messages, as there is a check in place to only warn about each missing species once per session, so you should never see more than one message about each type of pet. __________________ Retired author of too many addons. Until now, I couldn't find anything to pinpoint which addon the messages were coming from - even Google turned up nothing. You must have changed something, because FINALLY it's saying "BetterBattlePetTooltip:" in front of it so I could report this. Any way to turn these messages off? It happens CONSTANTLY with all kinds of common wild pets - pets I don't need, no less, since I have all the wild pets except the Summer one. Thanks.
