Fundamental UI  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: v1.0c Release
by: Shiny <3 [More]

Hello all!

And welcome to the Fundamental UI page, my name is Shiny <3 and I hope you enjoy my minor compilation.
As you can see it has been a while since I've uploaded a worthy compilation to this site, and this page in
particular so I hope you can let me off for that.

This UI was designed with the following in mind. Fundamental versatility and use, whilst being artisticly simple
yet elegant (or at least I like to think so). And workable with any play-style to a high level, whether that's DPS, Tanking, Healing, Raiding, PvPing, or casual levelling this UI should have it all! (:

As you can tell this UI is heavily inspired by Elv/Tuk UI (as aren't most these days) with my own Fundamental
flair thrown in to the mix, this is only a preliminary stage however, and the art style will no doubt change into something new further along down the line! Something a bit more me! (;

Anyway without further adue I will post an addon list & install instructions, and some contact details as well! ^^

> Addons Included
BadBoy - Guilded, History, Levels
Brokers - Location, Quester, wClock, wDurability, wMail, DualSpec, DETrackingBroker

XLoot 1.0
VexPower (For chi bars)
95% of the aforementioned addons are 5.0.4/MoP ready!

> Installation Instructions

> Out of game

1. Back up and remove your old WTF and Interface folders from WoW directory to somewhere secure
in case you either don't like the UI or something goes wrong!

2. Extract and then copy the WTF and Interface folders from the Fundamental UI download
Zip into your WoW directory

3. Go into your WTF folder and change ACCOUNT NAME to your account name (caps lock) then
into that to change server name and then finally character name's into the folders created
if you have more than 5 characters that you play regularly (raid with) just copy and paste
one of the character files until you have the necessary amount.

To clarify and as an example your WTF folder should look like this.
Account > RIPFRIEDTOMATO > Burning Legion > Kiylre
except obviously with your account name, realm and character names.

4. Make sure enable out of date addons is loaded and login to the game.

5. In the addons list scroll down till you find RSA addons and enable the classes you use.

6. If you are playing a Monk please do the following.
i) Activate VexPower

ii) If you are not a Monk deactivate VexPower
iii) go to step 1.1 (if you're not a monk ignore this)

> In game.

1. Once in game in the middle of your screen you should see a window for Gnosis (castbars)
please press the button that says Fundamental UI this will configure your cast bars.

1.1 Monk Edition - type /vexpower go to profiles (may require scroll down) and select Fundamental
UI for a better configuration of the Chi Power bar.

Additionally if you're levelling a monk from lvl1 - 12 I would advise you to disable the Pitbull PvP Icon module for the duration.
Simply go to type /pitbull go to modules and deselect PvPicon

2. Type /bt4 go to profiles and copy from Fwei - Burning Legion

3. Type /raven then go to profiles (top right) and copy from Fwei - Burning Legion

4. If your chat log is in the wrong position then type /chatter go to chat tabs and
deselect hide tabs, move the chat box into the correct position (and resize) and
then select hide tabs again.

5. find some mobs/target dummies and press V to activate name plates, type /kuinameplates
and change the font scale from 1 to 0.6 then type /reload

6. right click the tracking icon on the minimap and select hide icon

A 24" screen or 23.5" or 1920x1080 resolution (also known as a 1080p resolution) is now the industry average. In the UI world we call "showing absolutely nothing" SRE or Screen Real Estate, how much of the game world you can see, how much of the combat you can see.

The more you can see going on, the more efficient you can be in that scenario. Minimal UI's try to maximise SRE whilst utilising as little space possible to provide all the essential information.

The true brilliance of a good UI is to look good, provide the information you see, and not distract from the beauty and combat aspects of the game that you are playing. This way you can truly maximise your potential within whatever role you select as a player.
Very true; however, if it's too small and you have to squint or focus an extra second if what your pressing is the right thing... time to up the size a little from its minimalist form to semilist form.. Lol (almost minimal but not quite)

I'm sorry, you misunderstood me. I wasn't talking about the slots in the bag (border). I was talking abuot the little red blizzard style buttons that are at the top, in the title area - that have to do with famBags. Those things are atrociously fugly and need reskinned somehow.

I am learning LUA and I'm getting pretty good at it. The best way to learn is to just dive in, experiment with things to learn what they do, and change what you want to to learn with. I learned a lot from FreeUI and Neav UI (which are great places to start). My UI which I haven't released yet is fully coded from the ground up without any support of other addons, like how FreeUI does. I might release it with some support for them, until I've finalized it. But not sure yet.

If you wanna learn LUA now is the time, because I believe eventually WoW won't be so popular anymore, and is slowly coming to a halt on good content being added. They seem to keep the same industry standard, which is rather boring anymore. I mostly only play WoW now for the customization, nothing else. It use to be fun for me years ago, but after playing for so many years, I just keep getting burned out.

By the way, I think Mirgui would match better in terms of skinning the windows, instead of using Aurora for that. It's already out of the box looking more close to your UI's style. If you don't know how to change the images in Aurora (which is a little more complicated than Miirgui), then you should use Mirgui anyway, it is much easier to change images in it, than Aurora and you're going to be able to get a consistent design all around.

By the way, I cannot for the life of me get this UI set up correctly by following your instructions there. The art is not in place, the minimap is not in place, the buffs are not in place and I followed all the steps exactly as you put it here, and in the readme that came with the download... Not sure what you did wrong. Maybe you should try using Reflux to help with profiles?

EDIT: I have managed to get most things in place. The only thing that I cannot get to go where it belongs is the data broker addons. The text for them and stuff are not placed where they should be, and I don't know how to get them to be. Is there not a slash command to open a menu to unlock and move them, or choose a profile for them? Just isn't working.... I had to re-adjust everything, but I can't adjust these. My screen resolution is 1920x1080 and I've read that you have already included it as a supported resolution, yet it's not working.

This one's pretty simple, I tried FamBags originally with LifeStep (the main UI button texture) but felt it didn't really follow suit, so I believe went with Caith in the end, to do this simply go into /masque and select addons, and then select fambags and alter that one individually without changing the entirety of the UI, it's not inside Fambags config at all.

In regards to minimap icons I never have them nor use them, I like to remove all unnecessary information and the only one I do use is BugSack and that's only from a developmental view point, everything else should be automated, and if not then I usually know the /command for it anyway.

I'm the furthest thing from LUA savvy so skinning for me is out of the question, I won't be changing much in that respect, and I was unaware that Aurora had in game options, which is something I will look into now I am aware of this, for next release (hopefully before Friday).

Hello, I'm new to this. Nice UI, I love it so far. I have some questions though!

I use Curse Client. Can I update the addons without causing any problems?
Also, is there a way to make the UI a little bit bigger. I use 1920x1080 btw.

Hi Shiney <3

I was wondering if you'd be able to tell me how I would go about altering the colour of the labels for the Chat box and the Skada box? (The blue text, I'm wanting to change it to green)

Other than that, i'm loving the UI

For those who are wanting to do this too, you can change the colour of the text via the corresponding tabs in KGPanels

Text Color Changes, HELP!

Hey Shiney <3,

Still loving the addon Suite! Just 1 small issue, somehow the text colors of the quest log window, conversation window, and quest acceptance window have changed colors on me. The Quest Log text has turned to a brown/gold, making it hard to see against many backgrounds; and the conversation window/quest acceptance window text have turned to black, making them impossible to read.

Do you know which addon / config settings could be tweaked to fix this issue...any help would be greatly appreciated!

I've managed to get everything lined up correctly, or atleast i think i have for 1920x1200 sized monitors.

Though i'm not sure what i'd need to share to make it easier for others that might also use this resolution.

I'm having issues with this UI from the beginning. I downloaded the entire pack just as your instructions said, changed the Interface folder as well as the WTF folder only to find out that the change turned my client from ESRB to PEGI. And so with some irritation I had to put my original WTF folder back in order to even log onto my US client.

My question is, now. With all of the addon's and such, I can't figure out how to get the fundamental UI to actually download without all the huff and puff. I really only want the awesome look and design that you have in the photos you uploaded for this. How do I go about getting this accomplished? I'm new to the whole UI thing and right now the only bars and stuff I have is Bartender4.

Anything would be awesome. Thank you!

Can't get it to work at all, shame. Looks great to me, right up my street. Just can't log into the game, after following all the instructions, perhaps it's cause you might be on the US server? I dunno. Makes me sad

This Ui compilation is quite out dated, but it may still function if you update some of the addons and play around with it. To fix the issue that you and the person below you are having, you have to open up the WTF folder that came with the UI, then open up the folder inside. Once you do that, you will notice that there are some strings that need to be edited. For example: " SET locale "enGB" " and " SET patchlist "" ". You need to change these to the proper locales for which you play. Here is the list of strings, and just substitute the one you need for "enGB".

Hope that helps.
