QuestHelperLite  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 6.0.3.a
by: wakezero [More]

QuestHelperLite is an unofficial branch of QuestHelper aimed at providing the core subset of features in a slimmed down lighter version. Although some of the code and art assets of QuestHelper have been utilized, QuestHelperLite has been rewritten from the ground up and is in no other way affiliated with QuestHelper and those who have worked on it in the past.

The main deviation from QuestHelper comes from not utilizing a custom database to store quest objectives and locations. Instead QuestHelperLite gets all of it's info from the game itself. This has the advantage of providing a more compact addon without the need to update once new quests are available in game. If WoW knows about it, so does QuestHelperLite. Although this provides for a much lighter and compact addon, it is not without faults and some features of the old QuestHelper are not currently possible.

The core subset of features included in QuestHelperLite are as follows:

* Quest Pathing - Calculates an optimal route for you to follow while questing
* Tracking Arrow - A configurable arrow guides you to your next objective
* World Map Icons - Quest objectives are viewable outside of your current zone
* Ant Trails - Ant trails show the best calculated optimal route
* Context Menus - Context menus are displayed when you right-click objectives
* Ignorable Objectives - Ignore unwanted objectives

QuestHelperLite will stay updated with donors like you!

Look, Rammoth, you obviously care a lot about this addon or you wouldn't be posting about it so belligerently. You just might want to tone it down a notch.
This is software; you're treating it like a bad breakup or something.

I HAVE noticed that QHL seems to refuse to track a few specific quests even with all the filters turned off. The most recent one was http://www.wowhead.com/quest=13906/they-grow-up-so-fast

"Manually tracking" quests shouldn't even be necessary, because QHL should really track ALL quests unless they're excluded by its filters. With all filters off, every quest should appear on the tracker, and that doesn't seem to be the current behavior for some reason. Hopefully wakezero will be able to look into this and improve it after the holidays

Finally got around to sending a donation, btw. Happy new year! :3

I don't understand how anybody is able to use it effectively. Honestly... "NO MATTER WHAT I DO" it isn't going to stop doing that.

It's something you would HAVE to do, for this to be used enough. Most users are going to experience what I have experienced, it's inevitable.

I am not that radical because I really thing it is cool :-) and I find it very useful. It worked for me all the time... My leveling experience with this addon is much smoother.

Please, the addon author, could look at that and make my day better? :-)

Thank you very much.

Carbonite does that too... I honestly think it's kind of annoying. Because it takes over /1 or /2 in some situations on some characters, and you go to type in general chat or something else, and it ends up being cb1 or in this case probably qh or qh 1 as a title to the chat... and it can be removed but it's still ridiculous that it's kind of hidden, and there is nothing about this occurring on the info page. That does bother me honestly. But despite that, the addon works.

Okay, I did that and it's working, however... I can barely see the trailing, because it was designed in a way that is hard to see. Is there any way to make it more visible on the map, and maybe even have it show up on the Minimap?

hey you, i wanted this to support archeology so i hacked together a semi working for personal use(not ready for public) archeology mode, so it will lead you to closest archeology site on your current continent while still keeping track of shortest route... with more work you could actually make it do both that and questing.

the basic data gather function used is this

Code:
SetMapZoom(GetCurrentMapContinent());
	self:WipeZoneObjectives(GetCurrentMapAreaID(), 0);
	local num = GetNumMapLandmarks();
	local dxy={}
	for i=1,num do
		local name, description, textureIndex, x, y = GetMapLandmarkInfo(i);
		if textureIndex==177 then
			self:AddZoneObjective(4321, 3333, name, true, false, 0, 0, x, y, GetCurrentMapAreaID(), 0);

			table.insert(dxy,{name=name,x=x,y=y})
		end;
	end;
note the 4321 and 3333 were just arbitrary numbers. would you like the full file?

I'm also experiencing the "starting zone auto-accepted quest text disappearing" bug described here (on worgens in particular). Not a huge problem, though, if I remember to just disable the mod before starting a new character.

I know you're trying to keep this mod light on extra features, but there are a few things missing from the old QH that I hope you'll bring back:

- ability to change waypoint arrow font
- option to display ETA to the destination under waypoint arrow
- make waypoint arrow point to your corpse when you're dead
- option to manually prioritize ("send to top") a specific quest
- option to manually ignore a specific quest

Other than that, it's pretty much perfect. I'll probably send a donation your way soon ;-*
Thanks, donations are always appreciated =)

As for ignoring quests, you can either right click the arrow or objective icon on the map and click "ignore objective". Right now it ignores the whole quest.
