Stay Focused! Hunter Helper  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 40000.6.4a
by: Drauer, Jotaro

StayFocused! Hunter Helper is a very simple post-update plugin for StayFocused!, that implements a color-coded focus bar for hunters.

Please note: You need Version 40000.4 or higher of StayFocused! (the main AddOn) for this to work. Link is at the bottom.

* It's blue when you have enough focus to dump one or more Arcane Shots and still have enough to fire your main shot (Explosive / Chimera / Kill Command) when it comes off cooldown.
* It's red when you don't have enough focus for your main shot.

Features:

* custom color selection

* steady/cobra shot preview bar
displays the 9 focus you get if you complete your cast

* indicator sparks
spark positions indicate warning/safe focus values.
left spark color shows the main shot cooldown
right spark color indicates if you have enough focus for Multishot

* option to include the potential focus gain of your currently casting steady/cobra shot for the warning/safe color setting.
This basically treats your focus as if you had those 9 from your steady/cobra already, but only when casting

* optional focus regen estimation display
this can be enabled in the AddOn options.
this value is currently used to get better results as focus regeneration increases with higher haste levels, and is by no means absolutely accurate. If you experience problems with the "safe value" calculation (blue bar) let me know.
How it works: Base focus regen is around 4 focus/second. Depending on your haste you get sometimes a tick of 2 or more instead of 1. The average of ticksize/time is added to the base regen. Note that this also takes Invigoration into account, so you might geht higher values if your pet is attacking - wich is intended, since you'll want to dump focus as early as possible.

Main addon:
This is only a plugin for StayFocused! addon. You can get it here.

40000.6.4
- fixed a spellid typo

40000.6.4
- changed some calculations to avoid rapidly increasing memory usage
- when "show cast" was selected but "include steady/cobra" was not, the preview castbar was not moving. this should be fixed now.

40000.6.3
- sparks indicating warning/safe values and hints for main and multishot

40000.6.2
- now takes Termination into account

40000.6
- fixed an error that caused the castbar preview to go crazy when "no text" was selected in the main addon options

40000.5.3
- color picker!

40000.5.2
- Added ability to include the potential focus gain of steady/cobra to the warning/safe color calculation
- Option to disable the static-colored steady/cobra castbar and to match it to the current bar color
- Interface Options are now a subcategory of StayFocused

40000.5.1
- to avoid any more confusion, 40000.x will now be the same as StayFocused
- fixed a bug that caused your settings to be reset when disabling the steady/cobra castbar (they still reset when updating from 40000.2.3)
- the steady/cobra castbar texture should now always match your main bar texture

40000.3.1
- optional cast preview on steady/cobra

40000.2.3
- addon won't load unless you're a hunter
- new f/s calculation

40000.2.2a
- options checkbox fixed

40000.2.2
- added a somewhat experimental and by no means accurate focus/second estimate
- now with config!

Increasing Footprint Issue

Good evening,

I've noticed an issue after running some diagnostics which are showing that the memory footprint for this addon increases over time. I need to periodically run a garbage collection every so often in order to keep it calm. I apologize if someone already reported this issue. I'd love to continue using this addon for the future, however, this issue should be recognized and resolved appropriately.

Thanks!

There is an option to hide them, be sure you unzipped all of the files.

The Multishot one does take Bombardment into account, it will still be green at 20 focus. Also, it'll just show you if you can cast multishot or not, to avoid situations where you need to look at both your Actionbuttons and the Focus Bar. If someone can come up with a better use/behavior, please tell me. (Your mainshot is pretty useless in aoe situations anyways)
The position however won't change, it indicates the focus you need for your mainshot + arcane.
I might add an option to disable coloring or use a 1px line instead of the spark texture to match it better to those flat-minimalist texture styles, depending on feedback.
Ah, it was cleverly hidden as "Show Sparks"... sorry.

And now I understand how the sparks work by color. I still will not use them because my action bar buttons are so close that I can tell when the shots are ready. Nevertheless, you might consider moving the sparks to either end, as (at least for me) they get lost on the bar.

Thanks.

Sparks

Please don't take this wrong because I like this AddOn (and I know someone else was asking about a Multishot indicator) but I don't like the new "sparks". The right (Multishot) one doesn't even make sense to me (unless it is showing Focus needed to cast Multishot and then still have enough Focus for your main shot) and it doesn't seem to consider the Bombardment (Marksman) talent.

Could you add an option to hide the sparks?

Thanks.

thanks, I didn't know there was something similar out there. So Duress101, try to disable/delete that addon and reinstall StayFocused again to get the config file back and it should be ok

btw, it will be nice to have color for max focus (overcap) and color for multishot (useful for trash packs and solo farming).
I'm hesitant to introduce more colors, since It'll become difficult to notice what's going on when the bar colors change like a rainbow.

Concerning overcapping, the moment your bar turns blue, your next shot should be arcane if your other abilities are on cooldown (exept maybe for mm with the steady shot buff, but thats only 9 more focus)

With Multishot, how should that work exactly? Another color would confuse on single target rotations, it might be possible to switch to another "set" of colors depending on the last shot you cast but that would not be very intuitive.

I have the main addon StayFocused and the HunterHelper plugin. I deleted the config file from the StayFocused folder. You can't go to options anymore so choose your color and stuff beforehand. And yes the cast preview which shows how much focus you gain from SS/CS remains on the focus bar.

First of all. Great plug-in. Thanks a lot. I do have one question though. What's the bar in the screenshot that I put a circle on. I can't seem to find the option to turn that off.

Link

Edit: Found a solution myself. Removed the config file from the main StayFocused map in the addons folder

Sorry about that, I'm not actively raiding on my hunter, so this never occured to me. Version 40000.6.2 includes it and should be up soon, thanks for the tip!

I'm getting these errors using version 40000.3.1

Not sure where you get version 40000.4 as I don't see it being offered here.

No Error...

When I checked the version I had downloaded (of Stay Focused) (i.e. the actual file), it showed 40000.4. However, I downloaded it again and re-installed it and the error is gone. (I also deleted the old saved variables so that might have been the problem too.)

Thanks!

Please check again if you use version 40000.4 of Stay Focused.
(This can be done in the Interface/AddOns Panel, click the plus on the Stay Focused Config and go to the About entry)
Using 40000.3 I get the same error as you, but 40000.4 seems to work fine here.
