caelUI  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: r18 040513
by: Caellian [More]

INTRODUCTION

Due to the overwhelming amount of people asking for it i decided to finally release caelUI to the public.

caelUI is a very light, all-inclusive UI at least for dps and tank classes.

It doesn't include addons like decursive and such but feel free to add them.

caelUI has absolutely no in game configuration, meaning that if you don't have a minimum of knowledge of Lua, this is not the UI you're looking for.

CaelUI has been written to work with the enGB/US locale, OTHER LOCALES AREN'T SUPPORTED.

I'm open to any suggestion that might improve it but i give no guarantee that anything you request will ever be included.

INSTALLATION

Delete your WTF folder. (make a backup of yours before deleting)
Remove any addons that might interfere with this UI. (examples: other actionbar addons, unitframes etc...)
Copy the content of this package to your AddOns folder.
Start the game, define your screen resolution, reloadui.

Don't really see why it was a fail attempt, I merely gave you the reason why there currently is none. Yosomono has written up a bunch of answers to frequently asked questions though, so expect to see that +more when the next release goes up, which should be as soon as we iron out the bugs in the social feed.

Having said that, I can already tell you we're most likely not going to add things like changing colors for a specific element, there are simply way too many of these settings for us to list them all. Feel free to ask about them in this thread.

As for changing the opacity, the last value of the SetStatusBarColor is the alpha value on a scale of 0 to 1, that is something you can tweak for the bars. A lot of the recDamageMeter design can be tweaked through the settings file as well.

Not sure about opacity as for colors there are a couple different sections to change colors depending on which colors you wish to change.

Line 294 f.bars[i]:SetStatusBarColor(1, 1, 1, 0.8)

Also some more at line 211 or so for the class colors.
Thanks a million!
I also found the color/opacity on line 278
f.texture:SetTexture(0.1,0.1,0.1,0.8)
numbers are (red,green,blue,alpha)

I'm super happy my UI doesn't look retarded and I'm using some nice ultra low memory usage dps and threat meters.
Thanks!

I've been having a problem with flying "npc" mounts since getting to use them with this addon comp. When I'm in Occulus, for example, and I fly forwards with just the "W" key without mouse camera control or anything, my mount aims straight to the ground and dives. Same with the mounts for the quests in Storm Peaks for Hodir chain quest. This does NOT happen while I'm flying on my normal mount.

So like I said, I don't recall this problem before using this comp, but I also don't see anyone complaining about that happening to them in these forums. Thus, I'm not entirely sure it is something to do with this addon, but anyone has tips, please let me know. Strafing to fly straight is annoying. :P

I believe if anywhere in the addon is causing this problem, it might be this line from the cVar lua file:

Code:
ConsoleExec("pitchlimit 449") -- 89, 449. 449 allows doing flips, 89 will not
Thus, I'm gonna try putting it back to 89. Doubtfully, but hopefully, that fixes it. I won't have a way of knowing till I do Occulus, again. If anyone has a suggestion, please let me know. :\

--EDIT-- I went through Occ today with the 89 setting. I haven't changed anything else in the UI, and I did not have a problem with it diving down when I tried to fly forwards on the dragon. = \

Don't mean to preach, but this example of what I meant coming up so soon between the two posts made me want to just clarify what I was meaning the other day.

Thanks for the notification, I gave up the search after ten pages and decided to go back to my old UI, anyhow, I liked the combat log so I fit it snugly into my current UI, hope that isn't a problem :3

Hello, first off I'd like to say that this is a great UI.

However I'm having a minor problem with it, whenever I open my spellbook or drag any ability or item out to the action bars the buttons act as if the "Always Show Action Bar" option is toggled on, and it does actually toggle the option on whenever I move usable items in my inventory, or open my spellbook.
It also turns on "Secure Ability Toggle" when this happens.

To get the bars hidden again I have to uncheck the option in interface>action bars and /reload.

@Gotai

I can definitely see that. =X

Speaking of features, there's one that I wanted to work on, but I've been short on time. There's an addon that I haven't seen a new version for called Poisoner. It makes it really easy to apply poisons for the lazy people like myself. :P Anywho, I wanted to make it popup when you, say, right click the tracking menu on the minimap, and then it shoots a list up that displays all the poisons you currently have and their count. Then apply them to your mh/oh based on left/right clicking. If you see the button on the screen shots, you can see it definitely doesn't have a real place in the Cael UI. :P

And I bet it'd be nice to have it work for Shaman weapon buffs, as well as any other items like sharpening stones/etc.

I could adapt the current addon to what I want when I get some time after hitting 80, but I figured I'd mention it here to see if anyone else wants to give it a try..

Some of the often asked things (like changing fonts) will be made more easy in the future, at which point we'll include a short HOWTO in the addon info. Most other requests are very specific to the person why requests it, and as such do not make their way into the UI. Keeping a list of all those possible tweaks would make the addon info page one big mess. I do agree with you these comments are not ideal.

The thing with the UI is that it's constantly evolving, and so something that might've worked in r2, may suddenly break in r3. If we'd add these tweaks to the addon info, that would also mean we have to constantly monitor whether something breaks or not, and how it should be fixed. I for one just don't have the time to do that.

As always though, if you feel something is missing, just request it. All comments are read, and if we see something requested an awful lot we can always decide to add it. Next up (once I free some time): easier font management.
