caelUI  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: r18 040513
by: Caellian [More]

INTRODUCTION

Due to the overwhelming amount of people asking for it i decided to finally release caelUI to the public.

caelUI is a very light, all-inclusive UI at least for dps and tank classes.

It doesn't include addons like decursive and such but feel free to add them.

caelUI has absolutely no in game configuration, meaning that if you don't have a minimum of knowledge of Lua, this is not the UI you're looking for.

CaelUI has been written to work with the enGB/US locale, OTHER LOCALES AREN'T SUPPORTED.

I'm open to any suggestion that might improve it but i give no guarantee that anything you request will ever be included.

INSTALLATION

Delete your WTF folder. (make a backup of yours before deleting)

You'll be happy to know that I broke the action bars down a considerable amount to make moving them around a lot easier. Your downfall now is that the layout is all based upon the positioning of all the other panel locations, so you'll have to move the panels around a bit. You'll need to check into caelPanels/caelPanels.lua for the placement of the panels and caelBars/actionBar<1-5>.lua for changing the bars from breaking after 6 buttons.

All the placements of everything in the UI is now based upon the placement of the panels.

4.1 Change Log (All versions)
  • caelNamePlates are displaying (castbar not tested) for patch 4.1.
  • Skinned the new Help button in the Game Menu (ESC Menu).
  • A new boolean value has been added to the argument set for COMBAT_LOG_EVENT_UNFILTERED that is taking its place before sourceGUID. We are omiting that value for now to make everything work. Seems this value has only returned true when UNIT_DIED and ENVIRONMENTAL_DAMAGE are the subevents.
  • Title window fonts are now inside the paperdoll frame.
  • No more pet happiness. This includes the removal of caelPetCare from caelManager.
  • spreadnameplates CVAR removed from game. --- This is now controlled by a dropdown menu inside the Options panel -> Names tab (on the right hand column.
  • The bottom right action bar is now Shift+5 action bar (bar5) as it was in previous versions of caelUI. The right action bar, that is not being displayed by default, is now Shift+4 action bar (bar4) as it was in previous versions of caelUI.
  • bump .toc's -> ## Interface: 40100

Change Log (Full)
  • Removed Recount, BigWigs, and mood from the addon folder.

Upcoming changes
  • Removing RaidWatch as the raid boss mod of choice inside caelUI and replacing it with DBM that will include Caellian's style modifications for the appearance of the bars and notifications in game.

If you find any bugs with this patched version, please report them to https://github.com/memborsky/caelUI/issues. This will let me keep track of issues a lot easier over time.

I don't play, nor have I played, nor will I probably "play" a dk. With that infomration in hand, I'll need you to explain to me more as to what you mean by Death Runes not resetting. As in where, when, how, and more of the what.

caelUI revision 5fd50df

Following some suggestions and comments from a few users of my edited version of caelUI. I've reverted my edit of the UI back to Caellian's layout design, minus panel textures.

I've also added the ability for the user to move the first action bar to the left side of the screen, as well as moving the chat frame to the left side of the screen. All you need to do is goto caelPanels/caelPanels.lua and change the false's to true's for what you are looking for. Located at the very top of the file (lines 5 and 6).

I'm also removing the WoW-Pro leveling addon from the minimal install only, as more then one users has stated that it's come back with an issue upon first install of my version of the UI.

Possible scaling issue might be present in this updated release for users other then 2560x1600. With the reversion back to Caellian's layout design, I have increased the size of the panels just slightly. you might see a slight panel sizing issue of panels going off the edge of the screen. I'll get this fixed on next release, but you shouldn't see much more then 50% of the damage and threat meters from being off the sides of the screen, if anything is off the sides at all.

Change Log (minimal)
  • Layout design has been reverted back to caelUI's design. Textures to be reverted, or optionally added, next release.
  • Removal of WoW-Pro leveling addon.
  • recThreatMeter will now display the correct # of bars to the height of the threat meter panel.
  • Threat and Damage panels will now show/hide on their respective addons being enabled/disabled.
Change Log (full)
  • Layout design has been reverted back to caelUI's design. Textures to be reverted, or optionally added, next release.
  • recThreatMeter will now display the correct # of bars to the height of the threat meter panel.
  • Threat and Damage panels will now show/hide on their respective addons being enabled/disabled.
Known Bugs:
  • Memory leak in one of the caelDataFeed modules. It is currently pushing memory usage into the 1+ mb range. The UI uses a base of between 790 and 820 kb of memory. Side note, this is being auto garbage collected and dumped every 10k events that happen outside of raid.
  • Second chat tab chat frame will clear of text when you do anything in game, outside of receive a battle.net whisper.

New layout screenshots:
Downloads can be found at https://github.com/memborsky/caelUI. In the top right corner, click the Downloads button and select your version from there.

EDIT NOTE: Action Bar 4 and 5 in this edit is actually the wrong bar. If you want to prepare yourself for all future bar layouts, change bar4 from Left to Right and bar 5 from Right to Left.

There are two other ways in caelLoot/caelLoot.lua if you don't want to delete the line above:

1. Around line 12 is a destroyList. Anything put in there will be destroyed. Right now, the default is Murglesnout and Blackbelly Mudfish.

2. Around line 153: if itemRarity == 0 and itemSellPrice < 2e4 then
- 0: you can change it from 0 to 7 (Poor to Heirloom)
- 2e4: that's 20000 copper

So everything by default currently reads as: "Destroy Murglesnout, Blackbelly Mudfish, and anything grey that's worth below 2 gold."

EDIT: oops. OUF folder's empty?
oUF problem is due to the way I manage oUF inside the git repository.

I'm fixing this problem by adding two new downloads under the "DOWNLOAD PACKAGES" section on the DOWNLOADS button window. The versions are as follows (if you don't know which you need or want, choose Minimal):

1.) Full = This is everything that is inside of my Addons/ folder. This will include extra addons that aren't being used/managed inside of the caelManager addon, so might be more then is need.

2.) Minimal = All the addons that are being managed by the caelManager for all specs/classes is included in this folder. This will be everything you need to use the UI without anything extra inside the Addons/ folder.

As for the layout, I'm not entirely happy with it so it will probably change again soon enough. I'll be switching it back to the caelUI default layout within a months time.

I'm more then happy to extend a hand to those in need by letting you take a peak into my edited version of caelUI, found over on github.com. This UI edit does not have the same look as caelUI does and is actually a slightly modified version of it, at this point. Changes for 4.1 will be pushed down into the master branch when it gets released, but I'm building a completely new iteration of caelUI and it's currently in a rough design phase. If you have an issue with my edit of caelUI (or have a feature request you'd like to see added), please post it on that site under the issues section and I'll get to it that way.

Note, I am not completely updated to what Caellian had at the last update I have seen from him on any front, but for the most part, it is the exact same UI with a different look and some extra modifications.

If you would like to switch UI's from Caellian's version to mine; you will need to perform a clean install by clearing out your WTF/ and Addons/ folders. Then you'll need to download my version and place it into your Addons/ folder and load WoW. Make sure before you log in for the first time that you make sure that caelManager is enabled. Once you load into the game, it should ask you to reload for the Addon Manager to load up for you; if it doesn't, type /addonset and it will ask. At this point just accept and the UI will do the rest of it for you. Let me restate that if you have issues with MY VERSION of caelUI, please post them under the ISSUES section on the site above and I'll address them there.

You can download my version by clicking the big "Downloads" button in the top right of the page, then clicking "Download .zip" next to the branch: master line.

Screenshot of my edit.
