INTRODUCTION

Due to the overwhelming amount of people asking for it i decided to finally release caelUI to the public.

caelUI is a very light, all-inclusive UI at least for dps and tank classes.

It doesn't include addons like decursive and such but feel free to add them.

caelUI has absolutely no in game configuration, meaning that if you don't have a minimum of knowledge of Lua, this is not the UI you're looking for.

CaelUI has been written to work with the enGB/US locale, OTHER LOCALES AREN'T SUPPORTED.

I'm open to any suggestion that might improve it but i give no guarantee that anything you request will ever be included.


INSTALLATION

Delete your WTF folder. (make a backup of yours before deleting)
Remove any addons that might interfere with this UI. (examples: other actionbar addons, unitframes etc...)
Copy the content of this package to your AddOns folder.
Start the game, define your screen resolution, reloadui.

KNOWN BUGS
  • caelCooldown pulse does not filter unneeded cooldowns or show the right cooldowns when skills with shared cooldown are used (heroic strike/cleave for example).

Thank you so much for creating this UI. I understand that you need to have an understanding of .lua and I feel that I have been able to find everything that I need to adjust except for one error and I cannot figure out if it is just the addon or if I am doing something wrong. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

After almost a year, I've finally found the ultimate solution that will now prevent all forms of "oh crap" moments with the spinner.

The solution will now handle all ways to stop the game from spinning and showing the button when entering combat, the button is pressed multiple times (this was a problem for me as it wouldn't clear fast enough and I would get away/return/away/return spammed), leaving combat while being away (if you happen to go afk and come back dead, the screen will be back spinning and the button will be visible, but it will work as intended), and I'm sure some other cases are taken care of.

The current location for the fix.

Actually, to make the damage and threat meters to fit perfectly and not touch the screen edge is 0.936, but I find everything too large.

The only reason I use 0.83 is for the cooldown bars to align properly with the unitframes -- this is all based on the screenshots

Here are some issues:

1. 2560 x 1440 is not supported. I suggest [“1440”] = 0.83
2. caelPetCare is not needed anymore as Hunter pets don’t need food (rawr!). They still do need healing and rezzing
3. Some combat messages (warnings?) appear twice. I believe in-Quest text also appear twice too.

Yeah well, 9 months break, tried Rift but Rift failed, so, back to the original

caelUI 2.0 alpha

If you are adventurous enough, I am looking for people to help me test my constant changes to caelUI as it progresses towards a brand new version of 2.0. This is moving to an all inclusive UI with no (or minimal) configuration and minimal memory usage like we the UI is now. I will be attempting to make heavy changes in the next week to bring more of the core system into operation. I've got big ideas for this UI and hope people enjoy what will become of the new UI. Caellian wished for a single folder UI system, but didn't like looking at all the work that was needed to be done, before he stopped playing and I'm looking to deliver on that idea.

*Note, this address points to where the caelUI normally is BUT this is not the same repository as the other one. That one is now listed as caelUI_old for back referencing. This is a completely NEW repository for development now and into the future of caelUI. The other was getting to be cumbersome on doing data extrapolation on previous logged commits due to all the methods I had tried with other addon integration over the months.

If you would like to test, head over to https://github.com/memborsky/caelUI/downloads and click the "Download as .zip" button. I make no promises that this UI will even load and work for you. You will need to completely clear out your saved variables for all your characters in your WTF folder as well as the global saved variables folder in WTF. With this you will also need to provide a clean Interface/Addons folder (meaning remove all other addons for safety measures). Before installing any addons back, please load the game up and reload into the UI. Please make sure you have all addons unloaded but caelManager on first load.

Just a side note, I've done some major modifications while being away from a computer that can actually load WoW so you might run into stupid little bugs if you are going to be downloading the UI before this weekend. I should hopefully have everything fixed and in a working order by that time.

POST ANY BUGS RELATED TO RUNNING TO THE GITHUB VERSION ON GITHUB.COM. I will not fix any problems related that version posted here. If you don't want to create an account, send me a private message here with the issue and I will cross post it onto github for you, but please if you are going to be serious about testing this to please make the account and post them yourself. It will save me a great deal of time.

My current planned goal is to have this entire UI system up and operation and ready for release by 4.3. I make no promises. If I do not get this entire UI done, I will release a current version (from here on wowui) with 4.3 fixes until I get 2.0 ready.

Sorry for the long post but I wanted to post about what my plans are and how I'm directing my time for this UI. As for those who have posted issues on the current wowui version of caelUI, I'm not ignoring you but you are asking to do something that isn't allowed (striping recScrollAreas out of caelUI to be used as a stand alone addon, whisper sound to other addons) or insufficient data (caelLoot lagging on loot roles?, lighter text that doesn't exist for action buttons and italics to normal text?). Please provide more information on those who have insufficient data problems and for those who are trying to do things not allowed, figure it out yourself because I'm not going to help you on it. You are trying to use pieces of addons created by authors who have given Caellian rights to be able to include them in his addon set. Not cool to jack someone else's work and use it in your addons without permission (READ THE LICENSE AGREEMENT!!!!).

Action bar Keybindings

Love the ui, but having a few issues I hope someone can help with.

Ok, either this has already been answered and I am too stupid too figure it out, or just not doing it correctly.

1) looking for the macros and numbers to show up on the bars as well as making it lighter instead of the dark it has.

Can you please tell me how to to this, using Notepad++ now.

2) Also would like to change the italics to regular or normal (what blizz had) if possible.

3) Where is the xp/rep bars? (nvm on this as I saw the xp/rep in minimap after playing my level 7 mage)

Does anyone else have a big delay on roll drops when using CaelLoot?

Not sure why.

I updated CaelLib to reflect my characters. We'll hope that fixes the problem.

If i wanted to use RecScrollAreas as a standalone addon, how would I do it?

I have caellib and caelmedia all set, and it doesnt throw any errors, but there is no damage/healing displayed.
