caelUI  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: r18 040513
by: Caellian [More]

INTRODUCTION

Due to the overwhelming amount of people asking for it i decided to finally release caelUI to the public.

caelUI is a very light, all-inclusive UI at least for dps and tank classes.

It doesn't include addons like decursive and such but feel free to add them.

caelUI has absolutely no in game configuration, meaning that if you don't have a minimum of knowledge of Lua, this is not the UI you're looking for.

CaelUI has been written to work with the enGB/US locale, OTHER LOCALES AREN'T SUPPORTED.

I'm open to any suggestion that might improve it but i give no guarantee that anything you request will ever be included.

INSTALLATION

Delete your WTF folder. (make a backup of yours before deleting)
Remove any addons that might interfere with this UI. (examples: other actionbar addons, unitframes etc...)
Copy the content of this package to your AddOns folder.
Start the game, define your screen resolution, reloadui.

Key Binds

Hi,

I have just stumbled across this UI, I really like the small footprint, but there are a couple of things I would like to change and I cant find what I am looking for in the API docs.

I would like to display keybinds on the actionbars and change the font throughout the UI. Would it be possible to point me in the right direction?

Many thanks.

I use a nostromo myself. I found that I hated using the little joystick for movement because it's notorious for getting stuck So instead, I use it for scrolling through different sets of keybinds. So default is the first bar, then I go around clockwise on the joystick to get to the keybinds for each set of bars. for example, if I push left it goes to the set of buttons below the default, up goes to the top row of bars in the in the next set, etc. This way you always know which way you're looking and i set each joystick to work the same on each keymap profile, with pushing it down always returning to my main set of actions. Then use the big button for my jump key and the little round button above the joystick is tab.

That may make no sense, I'm not sure, but it's how I how I usually use it :P

Honestly it wouldn't be "easy", but you know, i'm also using a Nostromo with the current layout

You're not supposed to "redo" anything, you're supposed to edit them in the code: caelCore\modules\cvarData.lua

It's just my settings being provided as default, feel free to modify them.
That's exactly what I needed to know. Thanks for the quick reply.

How bad would it be?

I absolutely love your UI and have been a huge fan for a very long time. I was recently gifted a razer nostromo and would really like to have a bar configuration in a 4 X 3 grid for the button layout per bar (This would match my layout for the Nostromo and give me a visual reference to my keybindings). My question is, how difficult would it be to change the configuration of your bar layout to achieve this without destroying the look and textures of the UI? I haven't done any real programing since my university days (I will date myself, it was in FORTRAN), so I am by no means a LUA programmer but willing to learn. Is this a project that could be easily achieved or I am biting off too much for a beginner? Also what areas of the UI would I need to look at in order to achieve what I am talking about? Appreciate your advice before I begin to frustrate myself.

I will have to find time to learn LUA and so i can use this. Till then its back to LUI.
Another update is coming very soon, just a few things left to fix for 4.3

I learned LUA so I can understand and configure caelUI. Lots of trial and error (even now) but eventually worth it.

If you are in the US, please download the updated version here for 4.3 and then check again. If it still has a problem you will need to exit the game, delete all extra addons not included in the caelUI download here, clear your WTF folder, and then load the game.
no i'm not in the us, have to wait till tomorrow for 4.3 (and please, don't give me "other locales aren't supported, i took care that my locale in fact is supported :P )
yes i already only use the addons included in this download (still the same appearance, if you haven't guessed it^^)
yes i already deleted my wtf (with wow exited of course)
and i don't think that this dl here contains different files than those available on his svn, or does it? (found no difference yet, but could have missed a file to compare)
