Version 4.1

CSC3v4.1 comes in a .zip file. The help file has now also been added for this version of CSC3 and is included as a .doc file in the zip folder.

This program is simple, easy and safe to use. Simply fill in your relevant rogue stats and which raid buffs you wish to be included in the calculations.

This program is up to date with CATACLYSM and uses the Cataclysm patch buffs and conversions for all it's calculations based on a Level 85 rogue.

What Does CSC3v4.1 do?
  • Calculates your crit cap based on stats and optional buffs
  • Calculates your hit and expertise caps
  • Calculates caps with optional heroic mode for non raiding rogues
  • Details both Percentage and rating values
  • Gives hints and tips for improvements
  • Completely UP TO DATE FOR CATACLYSM
  • Calculations for a Level 85 Rogue

New in CSC3v4.1
  • Potion of the Tol'Vir Added (1200 agility use)
  • Consumable changed to say Skewered Eel/Feast
  • Flask changed to say Flask of the Winds
  • Expertise cap in heroic mode fixed to 22 skill not 26 skill, includes tweaks to crit cap in heroic mode

Coming Soon:

Aesthetic updates and tweaks to make it look and feel like v2.2.

New in CSC3v4.0
  • Stat Conversions for a Level 85 rogue
  • Consumables changed to Level 85 Food and Flask
  • Expertise Skill changed to 26 skill again for Level 85
  • Completely up to date for Cataclysm

CSC3v3.4b
Expertise dodge value updated from 6.53 to 5.62

CSC3v3.4
Heroic Mode check box renamed to Heroic Dungeon Mode to avoid confusion with heroic raids.
Agility Elixir is no longer a recommended buff.
About box title changed
About box addition - Special thanks to Ragnastas
Expertise cap changed to reflect recent blue post - now 23 Expertise Skill. (see special thanks addition)

New in CSC3v3.3
Main hand and Off hand expertise calculations added.
Optional MH and OH racial passive expertise checkboxes added.
Minor typing errors fixed.

New in CSC3v3.2
Agility Elixir added
Scaling for Elixir with kings and lesser kings added
Added sub note for 5% crit option

NEW in v3.0

The program has been completely re-written to accomodate a level 80 raiding rogue in patch 4.0.1 (pre cataclysm patch).

Thanks also to Cacrosh for pointing out the missing 2% of precision and not 1%. :) Fixed in version 3.1

NEW in v2.2

Minor Changes made to the program only. Including fixed spelling errors, changing www.pverogues.blogspot.com to http://pverogues.blogspot.com and so on.

Version 2.1 Changes:

An additional optional talent checkbox was added for Malice which is a five point talent in the Assassination tree that gives the character an additional 1% crit per point. When filled in this now deducts this extra crit from the crit cap.

Thank you for the Assassination rogue Devro on MMOChampion for spotting this shortfall.

Version 2.0 Changes:

1. A new skin was added to the program to make it just a little less grey. :)

2. A heroic mode checkbox was added to display results based on heroic instances. Leave this unchecked to view your stats based on raids.

Version 1.2 Changes:

1. Implemented rating values for crit, hit and expertise. Both hit rating and expertise rating values are exact numbers based on the rating values provided by the user. The crit rating value is an approximation as it is based on the percentage value given by the user.

2. Help document updated accordingly complete with new screen shots.

Version 1.1b Changes:

1. Fixed error with Improved Faerie Fire and Misery which caused hit % to be added to melee hit. Now only adds hit % to poison hit.

Version 1.1 Changes:

1. Complete raid buffs available for Melee Crit including Kings, GotW, Horn of Winter, Forgotten Kings and Improved GOTW. The Kings buffs are calculated based on your additional given information of Agility and all exclusive buffs do not stack (even if you tell it to).

2. Lower limit applied to talent point data. You now cannot go below 0 talent points even if you tell it to. It will simply amend your entry to 0.

3. The "More Info" button now displays a friendly and helpful message if you have not yet pressed the "Calculate Now" button, telling you to do so.

4. The "Calculate Now" button displays an additional helpful message if you click it without entering your agility when you have a Kings buff selected.

5. Fixed issue with expertise rating exceeding 6.53%. Now no longer over caps in crit calculations. (Sorry about that >.<)

yes you can enter in whatever precision you have in the relevant box. so whether you are a combat rogue or a mutilate rogue (or even a sub rogue) everything you need that is specific to your build is in here.

I'm afraid this program is for rogues and not warriors, afaik warriors dont have crit cap issues all in all. Either way, because its for rogues, it is referring to the Precision talent for rogues which is 6% hit.

Re: Re: New Update Coming Soon

Forgive me if I'm being a bit slow on this one.

I have calculated crit cap basically like this:

100% - 24% glancing blows - miss chance - dodge chance - 4.8% minimum hit

This is because you cannot have less than 4.8% hit and so this cannot be removed from the table. You therefore need to deduct the 4.8% you would normally have as crit form the overall equation as this cannot become crit. (Ugh i really don't know if that explained it properly but oh well).

So far my program is showing results accurate to those shown in alternative methods such as EJ spreadsheets and of course the website based version from wow.filltheglass.org

So two questions I have really:
1) Do you mean it for some reason should actually be +4.8% and not -4.8% in the equation and if so please let me know why.
2) Do you mean it is now the general thinking that you can in fact knock normal hits off the table and the 4.8% no longer exists because you seem to have stated two opposing things here, one that the formula includes a 4.8% depression and then two that you can push white hits off the table.

Thanks for your patience in advance

You need to check EJ again, the original crit cap testing was slightly flawed and has been revised, the REAL white hit/exp capped formula is:

100% - 24% Glancing blows + 4.8% minimum hit - 0% miss - 0% dodge/parry etc = 80.8% crit cap

However the 4.8% crit depression is still present, so parses will show a 76% crit rate, but 80.8% crit will push all white hits off the table.

Hey there,

Well I would say it is Feral druid friendly as it stands, while you may not dual wield like rogues if you are not dual wielding you no longer have a crit cap as such. This is because without the dual wield penalty you need significantly less hit% to become capped so you don't need to worry about hit/crit balance.

In case you would like to find out your crit cap as single wield here is the quick math:

100% - 24% Glancing blows - 4.8% minimum hit - 0% miss - 0% dodge/parry etc = 71.2% crit cap

So essentially speaking as a feral druid you will want to have 8% hit and 26 expertise skill anyway. Once you have reached this if you are single wield your crit cap is 71.2%. As far as I am aware druids cannot dual wield anyway so don't have the crit/hit problem.

I understand that not everyone is perfectly hit and expertise capped though and you may want to play with buffs given your current raid set up so I may make an alternative druid version or druid selection on the program at a later date. For now though I'm concentrating on the heroic mode values for version 2 of CSC3 ^_^

Thank you very much for taking the time to have a look at my program stay tuned for possible druid updates

Re: Re: Against TOC

Thank you Psychophan7 for some intelligent contributions and rebuttals :P

The program does not invade WoW at all, it's merely a mathematical tool that runs outside of WoW and does not affect WoW in any way whatsoever.

The program is also 100% safe to use, someone has even scanned it for your enjoyment and posted the results:

http://virusscan.jotti.org/en/scanre...bb86d6a061397c

Just in case you don't believe the moderators of this website for some reason.

Finally, the program is not designed to be used in game for many reasons including:

1. I personally have a billion add-ons necessary for the perfect raiding experience including ad-dons such as Omen. This is a program for people like me who have crappy computers that can't take any more random little add ons.
2. An in game add on is not necessary really. It's a bit OTT for a calculator.
3. I have yet to learn how to code in LUA. :P

So sorry, but I cannot foresee an in-game alternative in the future just yet but thank you I will keep that in mind.

An executable wouldn't be on WoWI unless the admins were absolutely sure that it isn't malicious. Read this.

Please be familiar with the EULA and ToU before making a claim about them. The relevant sections are 2B and 2S (respectively): use cheats, automation software (bots), hacks, mods or any other unauthorized third-party software designed to modify the World of Warcraft experience;

This program doesn't modify the WoW client, therefore it does not modify the WoW experience. Again, this wouldn't be on WoWI if it violated either of those documents.

Re-write the addon to be run as a script in-game instead.
/run print("Your crit cap for white attacks is "..(0.712-(214-GetCombatRating(24))*0.000305-(722-GetCombatRating(6))*0.000305)*100)
