ZiUI  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 4.0
by: Ziara [More]

Took a break from WoW for a bit, so I'm very behind on this. But I'm back!

Updated to function properly in Cataclysm.
Still some work to do, but bear with me. Baby steps. I'll update as I go.

If I missed anything. Shout at me in the comments and I'll try to take care of it as soon as time permits.

This interface was created for a 1650x1050 resolution and due to my limited time, I probably won't make it for other resolutions.
However if anyone feels like doing so instead, don't let me stop you.

Follow these steps:

  1. Back up the folders WTF, Interface and if you have it, Fonts .
  2. Extract the folders within the ZiUI .zip file into your WoW directory.
  3. In the WTF folder, change the following information appriopriately: "AccountName" (not your battle-net email, your actual account name), "RealmName", "CharacterName".
  4. I personally have the video settings bumped up quite high, you might want to change these to what your computer can handle or anything you want, before you log in.
  5. Type in /reflux switch ZiUI (this is case-sensitive, so capitalise this right).
  6. You can copy your old keybindings and macros from your old WTF folder to the new one or simply re-do them.
  7. If any addons after login look out of place, go into it's configuration -> profiles and switch them to "ZiUI", although Reflux should have gotten (nearly) all of them.
  8. Enjoy!

I personally play with my game sound muted. It may happen that I forget to unmute the sound before I upload a new version. So if your sound is off, apologies! Just enable it in the regular sound options.

I needed a change from the previous version of ZiUI and Skullflower has been a great inspiration. So a lot of credit goes to her.

Apart from that, several UI's have inspired me over time.
  • Adamair
  • Benea
  • Caitlyn
  • Real

Thank you!

  • Align -> Grid as help to align things properly.
  • Bindpad -> Incredibly handy (dual-spec supported) keybinding addon. As a heavy-keybinder, I couldn't live without it.
  • Butsu -> Loot frame.
  • ButtonFacade -> Bordering of actionbars/(de)buffs/etc.
  • caelNamePlates -> Nameplates of awesomeness.
  • Chatter -> Speaks for itself. Chat.
  • Chinchilla -> Minimap.
  • Combuctor -> Bags.
  • Deadly Boss Mods -> Raid-timers/etc. I personally solely use its PVP options, such as BG timers.
  • Dominos -> Actionbars.
  • DXE -> Boss mod.
  • Forte -> CD bar and spelltimers.
  • kgPanels -> Creator of panels to customise the UI.
  • Livestock -> You know the whole WG/Dal landing area bug where you can't fly properly? Macros seem to work only temporarily for me. This works like a charm.
  • LoadIt -> Easily enable/disable your addons when inworld.
  • ncError -> Hides those pesky "Out of Range", "Inventory is Full" error messages.
  • Pitbull -> Unit frames.
  • Quartz -> Casting bars.
  • Recount -> Damage meter.
  • Reflux -> Instantly switches every active addon's profile to one of your choice.
  • SatrinaBuffFrame -> Buffs/debuffs.
  • SharedMedia -> Yum, textures, fonts ..yum!
  • tekErr -> Catches errors.
  • TipTac -> Tooltip.
  • VuhDo -> Party/Raid frames. Perfect for any healing class.

Due to just returning to playing and thus being a bit rusty with addons I'm a bit afraid to fiddle around with kgpanels to fix this problem I've been having so decided to ask for your advice.

When I first installed the UI I kept getting a bug with quests (quest text background bugged, automatically accepting quest yet text still open) but this went away weirdly enough when I disabled Recount since I wasn't really going to use it while levelling anyways.

The problem now is that I just now noticed that in disabling Recount it somehow messed up kgpanels completely. The panels are there, but they're not showing up. If I go to config and unlock any of the panels the whole screen turns into the color the panels turn into when they're movable. I'm quite puzzled and as I'm rusty atm I really don't want to tinker with it and make it unfixable.

Help please? Any would be appreciated.
I have to say I haven't heard of anything quite like this so far, but I think it might very well be linked to WoW getting patched. Patches tend to create problems with the ways UI's are set up (or at least in my experience), even if they're minor patches. I haven't been using this UI since a small while before the latest patch, so I haven't gotten to updating it yet.

Since I'm rather busy and an update might take me longer than I'd want and this might be easier solved than one thinks, you might want to try to update KGPanels (http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-a...kg-panels.aspx) and overwrite the existing folder (or entirely remove the old KGPanels folder and then install the new one). This should fix the problem. If it doesn't, send a PM my way and I'll look into it asap.

Patches can be quite annoying with UI packages, unfortunately.

I noticed this not too long ago, I'll have it fixed in my next update (bug fixes, etc, tomorrow probably).

However you can fix it yourself if you wish to (it might mess up the KGpanels a bit, just a warning upfront). It pretty much means that the actual player frame is wider than the health/power bars. Go to /stuf. Then click on "Player", go to health bar and copy its width. Then click on simply "Player" and make sure its width is the same number as the actual bars (HP and power). The same for Target and focus/pet if needed. If the player/target frame is wider than the actual health bar, it'll create this transparent space which is still part of the UF, which explains the hovering thing.

I initially uploaded this in a bit of a messy state, updating one or two things in the two quick updates which came afterwards. It was fully playable when I uploaded it, but there's little things like these that happen when I don't pay attention!

Apologies. Will hopefully upload the updated version tomorrow.

There is a ToT. I just don't use a frame, thinking about changing it to something like the Focus/Pet frames, though.

In this screenshot;
http://s.wowinterface.com/preview/pvw36934.jpg

See the "Dark Rune Elem..." text below the target UF? That's my ToT. I've continued forgetting adding a percentage of remaining HP. I'll do something about that soon.

I do have one issue though. I have 2 chat frames and cant seem to find the tab to move one of them or even erase it.
Game menu -> Interface -> Social -> Uncheck "Lock Chat Settings". Hover over your window and the tabs to move and/or remove appear.

The thank you should go to you and others instead! Always motivating to see people's interest and appreciation of things you make.

And I appreciate the report, I'll look into this tomorrow when I'm properly awake and well, to have it sorted by the next update (or sooner, hopefully!). Thanks.

Also, do you intend for the sound to be disabled by default in your Config.wtf?
I always play with my game sound off, so yes.

If it's intentional for the upload, no. I'm still too accustomed to having the game sound muted, I keep forgetting to turn it back on before uploading. So thanks for reminding me of this. An annoying force of habit that one. I should make a post-it and stick it near my monitor, containing a list of what to check before putting it all into a zip-file and upload!

A teeny tiny typo can be enough. Those little buggers.

Ah, might not have saved properly in Reflux. I'll have a look. Although strange, since Vuhdo hasn't been changed/altered in the last update.

Thanks!

Edit: Just tested on a different character of mine. Reflux will load nearly everything right away except Reflux and Stuf. Easy way to fix it is to make sure your WTF folder is named correctly and if you use this UI on several characters, to make copies of the initial "CharacterName" folder and rename these to each of your character. When I copied my character on which I use the UI and renamed it to my alt, logged in, used Reflux, everything seemed to work fine. So make sure that's alright.

If you still have the same problem, let me know.

The focus is fairly simple, once a focus is set, it appears in a small box on the left side below the player UF. In the empty space on the right side of the focus, is (if you have one out) where the pet UF goes. It's properly aligned beneath the player UF as the focus is. I picked a 40-man raid so it's easier to imagine how it all looks. I'll take some extra screenshots later on, displaying 5/10/15/25 (will see which ones I can get a hold of) party/raids and will add them to the bottom of the page. However they're all centered and each column has no more than 5 rows to keep each column equally sized.

Good luck!
