I believe the fact that it would work with the ingame calendar or at least has the option to means no one else needs it. Though im not 100% sure on that. I do have a question as well as I did download this just to see what was there and wasn't and I noticed the calendar is only slightly smaller than the current one, I was wondering if you planned to add an option to make it look like how all the other group calendars looked. Thats the one thing I really want is a more small compact look again much like how the other group calendar versions before it looked while it was open. Anyways keep up the good work!

@Vranx: Miralen is correct, this works with the built-in calendar so it's entirely optional. Any member or raid leader can choose to run it or not.
@Miralen: The ability to resize the window is on my to-do list, but no definite plans on when I'll be adding that. The main reason I enlarged the UI was to make room for displaying the first two events on a day in the main calendar window, similar to the way the Blizzard UI does.
Ahh cool I just think it would be neat to have an option for Classic Group Calendar view or the new version or something is all thanks for all the hard work you've put into the many versions that have been released of group calendar.

Wanted to ask what the difference is between the small and large "crown" promotion icons next to people's names on the "Group" tab of the event window.

Those are for setting players as Moderators for the event (so they can edit, invite, etc.).
Edit: The size-changing is a bug btw, it's just supposed to switch between dim gray and bright gold and not change size.
OK I'm running into what I think is a minor issue. Any time I try to use GC5b5 to create a private event more than 10 days in advance I get the following error.
Originally posted by altairwolf Interface\AddOns\GroupCalendar5\GC5ScheduleLib.lua: 1147: assertion failed!
I've had a few reports of this and have seen it myself, but I haven't been able to reproduce it reliably. The best I can tell is that it happens when switching an event between "Guild Event" and "Private Event", though your report is unusual since you believe the problem happens with future scheduling.
So far the new version is working great but I'm having a small issue between myself using the addon and those in the guild who are not. When they open up the events in the normal calender the description is all but useless. It's filled with extra text like "[L:80,/C:ROLE:X25:M4,14:H4,6:T4,6:R4,14/D:240]" after I enter a description for the event. Is this normal and something we have to just deal with or something else?
Note: When I open the normal calendar I don't see such additions to the description so I'm left to believe they are being added by Group Calendar.

Yes, those are added by GC5. That's how it stores the extra event info that Blizzard doesn't provide: it sticks it into tags in the description and title fields. "L:80," means levels 80 and up, "C:ROLE:X25" means you've set it for auto-confirms by role with a max of 25 players, "M4,14:H4,6:T4,6:R4,14" means 4 to 14 melee, 4 to 6 healers, 4 to 6 tanks, and 4 to 14 ranged, "D:240" means the event is 4 hours (240 minutes) long.
You don't see it in the WoW calendar if you're running GC5 because GC5 filters the title and description to remove the meta data before it's displayed. Players who aren't running GC5 will see the meta data though, and it will show up on the Armory view of the calendar as well.
Originally posted by jfiz Does v 5.x provide a way to allow guild members to sign up for a posted event, *without* being invited directly first?
In patch 3.1 Blizzard added a new event type of "Guild Event" which don't require invitations to be sent. All guild members will see those events and can then sign up. The down side to Blizzard's implementation is that you can't tell when someone declines attending a guild event since there's no "hasn't responded" status for guild members, there's only "signed up" and "not signed up".
Private events are the original event mode and require you to invite everyone, even if they're guildies, but you can tell when someone declines one of those.

Oh my gosh, I had no clue. Thank you for explaining that, and for not just telling me to go rtfm lol. I guess we were so spoiled by group cal. 4.5 that we didn't think to check back in on the blizz cal after patches.
Thank you again for pointing that out, and sorry for the stupid question here.
With that in mind now...the features in gcal 5 beta make a lot of sense to me too.

I'm glad that helps make some sense of it. I wish Blizzard didn't have so many limitations and I've done my best to work around them in GC5, but there are still real and annoying limits to what can be done -- especially if you're used to the abilities in previous versions of GC.
