Shadowed Unit Frames  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v4.4.8
by: Shadowed, Nevcairiel

SUF focuses on a simple configuration while maintaining the flexibility that most users will care about, preventing unnecessary bloating of the addon that sacrifices performance. While you aren't going to be able to set the health bar to be exactly 3.14 pixels outside of the unit frames, you can change options you actually care about such as bar height, ordering, frame height and so on. To speed up configuration, you can configure multiple units at the same time through the global configuration. For example, if you want to set the height of the Player, Target, Focus and Party frames to 50 then the height of Target's Target, Target's Target of Target, Focus Target to 30 you can easily do this by changing two options instead of having to do it seven times.

However, should you need a little bit of extra configuration do not despair! An advanced option is included that will unlock additional configuration giving finer control over the configuration.

Anchoring
Are you driven crazy by your party frames not aligning up exactly with your player frames, even if it's only half a pixel off? The anchoring system will let you solve all alignment issues, by allowing you to anchor a frame to another and set a simple offset from the frame it is anchored to, or by manually setting the X/Y position of the frame.

Using the screen shot as an example, if you drag the player frame the other frames will move with the player frame preserving the alignment and spacing. Each frame can still be manually positioned wherever you want, but this gives you a way of easily anchoring and moving frames around without having to use a ruler.

Zone configuration (Disabling options/units by zone type)
Units and modules can be enabled or disabled based on the type of zone you are in. For example, if you want to see party targets and party pets while you are in an arena but nowhere else then you can use the visibility options to enable it only while inside an arena. Modules can also be disabled by zone type, if you want to see party auras while in a raid instance but nowhere else you can disable the module in raid instances only.

Profiles do not have to be swapped and it is all automatic.

Units
Supports unit frames are as follows:

Player: Player, Pet, Pet Target
General: Target, Target of Target, Target of Target of Target, Focus, Focus Target
Party: Party, Party Pets, Party Targets, Party ToT
Raid: Raid, Raid Pet, Main Tank, Main Tank Target, Main Assist, Main Assist Target, Boss, Boss Target, Boss ToT, Main Assist ToT, Main Tank ToT
Arena: Arena, Arena Target, Arena Pets, Arena ToT
Battleground: Battleground, Battleground Target, Battleground Target

Features

  • Tags: Includes a simple tagging system that can be customized in virtually any way using Lua, even if something isn't included by default odds are you can make the tags
  • Incoming Heals: Supports the Blizzard Events for incoming heal data, no external libraries needed
  • Auras: Can be set to only show auras you casted, or can cast on others. Can enlarge auras that you casted, and hide the cooldown ring on the timers of auras you didn't cast as well to make it more obvious which ones you casted and which ones you didn't
  • Aura Timers: You will need a mod such as OmniCC to show timers on buffs and debuffs
  • Aura Indicators: Display colored squares or icons for certain auras on any unit
  • Fader: Fades frames when out of combat and inactive (100% mana/no target)
  • Class Power (Eclipse, Holy Power, etc): Supports all of the class power features from Eclipse to Burning Embers.
  • Highlighting: Border highlighting of frames based on mousing over them, curable debuffs, aggro or you are targeting/focusing them
  • Range Checking: Fades frames out that are out of range of you
  • Exportable Layouts: If you have a layout, or your friend has a layout you want to try out you can export/import SUF layouts by going to /suf -> Layout Manager
  • Profiles: You can change from any profile to another one without reloading your UI, should you want to use a completely different layout based on zone you can easily switch profiles without hassle

Pretty much all the general unit frame settings are in, health bars, cast bars, power bars, portraits, indicators and so on.

Modules
Basic module support is included, should you be interested in building a module see the documentation on github for more information.

Hey Shadowed,

The "Hide Cooldown Ring" option seems to completely remove the cooldown frame, since it stops OmniCC counters from displaying.

Would you consider using my workaround from previous SUF versions, which is to "hide" the cooldown rings with button.cooldown:SetAlpha(0)? That causes OmniCC to still "see" a cooldown frame and so it puts timers on them. Which is the whole reason I like hiding the ring, since it distracts from the digits on the timers. xD

Don't want to add a specific option for just hiding the cooldown ring but maintaining the timer right now.

Well, what I meant was not so much a separate option but just modify the method used so that the "Hide cooldown ring" option effectively just does a SetAlpha(0). That would let people who use OmniCC still see the digits, and still have the same effect it does now for users who just want pure icons.

If people specifically want the timers shown/hid as well, that's their thing to do with OmniCC/whatever timer addon they're using, anyway. :P

I guess there's a resource-efficiency issue with running timers that are invisible, but frankly my computer is on the barely-legal-to-run-WoW side of things and I've never had any issues with hacking in SetAlpha(0) to the button.cooldown creation code.

So I just updated to r20090806, and now for some reason my party targets aren't showing anymore. Party pets show fine, but not targets. And yes, they're enabled.

this is a fantastic addon. aguf has been a mainstay of my interface for nearly a year, so i was kind of lost when it died with 3.2. i had SUF installed and running for solo play inside 10 minutes, which was a huge relief. the fact that i haven't even had to tweak anything since then really shows that a lot of thought and common sense has gone into this.. which is something i appreciate a huge amount.

now, i may just be being a bit daft, but i can't get the party frames the way i'd like them. i want them arranged in a 2x2 layout instead of the usual 1x4 (or 4x1). is there anyway of changing the format, or just simply splitting the party frames up so i can manually position them?

I am having this same issue. Since latest update I can no longer get the party frames to work. Tried resetting them, re-updating and everything I could think of with no luck. Found this comment and was relieved to find that I'm not the only one... What would cause this issue?

My party frames are working fine, luckily. It's the Party Targets frame I can't get to display.

I couldn't find any way to split up the party frames themselves, only separate/move away the party targets and party pets. Same with the raid frames. They're one big block. Unless I'm missing something.

Also, could the combat flag be added as an option similar to the "rested", "leader", "master looter" etc?

Actually, nm, I missed it cause it was so small at my screen rez. Where would I enlarge those in the config? I can't seem to find it.

When party targets don't work, are you doing anything specific? Here's what I need to know specifically:

- Do you have sorting on
- Did you (or the person it bugs out on) join while in combat
- Is the player set to show in the party frames
- Did it always bug out or was it working then it broke later on
- If it was working, did the party change in some way when it broke, perhaps someone got kicked from the group or maybe you entered a vehicle

twc: Turn advantaged settings on and you will get a size option for indicators.
Shockdown: When you unlock the frames from /suf -> Uncheck Lock frames do you see the party frame movers?

AudreyChandler: It's not about efficiency, it's meant for people who don't want the cooldown spiral + OmniCC if they are using it for action bars to obscure icons.

Actually nevermind, I know the issue.

Open ShadowedUnitFrames/modules/units.lua

Find: (Around line #470)

child:ClearAllPoints()
child:SetPoint(child:GetAttribute("framePoint"), self, child:GetAttribute("frameRelative"), child:GetAttribute("frameX"), child:GetAttribute("frameY"))
break

Replace with

child:ClearAllPoints()
child:SetPoint(child:GetAttribute("framePoint"), self, child:GetAttribute("frameRelative"), child:GetAttribute("frameX"), child:GetAttribute("frameY"))

(Yes all you do is remove the break at the end)

and that should make party pets and targets work together again.

With the latest build, I no longer get errors when using the Empty frames, but turning them on is not remembered so every time I relog they are turned off for all frames they were previously turned on and need to be re-enabled.

Hi, first of all I would like to thank you for this wonderful addon.

I just installed this new UF and for some reason my default Blizzard party frames are still active at the same time as your ShadowUF party frames...do you have any ideas on how to fix this?
