Shadowed Unit Frames  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v4.4.8
by: Shadowed, Nevcairiel

SUF focuses on a simple configuration while maintaining the flexibility that most users will care about, preventing unnecessary bloating of the addon that sacrifices performance. While you aren't going to be able to set the health bar to be exactly 3.14 pixels outside of the unit frames, you can change options you actually care about such as bar height, ordering, frame height and so on. To speed up configuration, you can configure multiple units at the same time through the global configuration. For example, if you want to set the height of the Player, Target, Focus and Party frames to 50 then the height of Target's Target, Target's Target of Target, Focus Target to 30 you can easily do this by changing two options instead of having to do it seven times.

However, should you need a little bit of extra configuration do not despair! An advanced option is included that will unlock additional configuration giving finer control over the configuration.

Slash commands: /shadoweduf (/suf)

Donations
Donations are not required, but are appreciated!

Anchoring
Are you driven crazy by your party frames not aligning up exactly with your player frames, even if it's only half a pixel off? The anchoring system will let you solve all alignment issues, by allowing you to anchor a frame to another and set a simple offset from the frame it is anchored to, or by manually setting the X/Y position of the frame.

Using the screen shot as an example, if you drag the player frame the other frames will move with the player frame preserving the alignment and spacing. Each frame can still be manually positioned wherever you want, but this gives you a way of easily anchoring and moving frames around without having to use a ruler.

Zone configuration (Disabling options/units by zone type)
Units and modules can be enabled or disabled based on the type of zone you are in. For example, if you want to see party targets and party pets while you are in an arena but nowhere else then you can use the visibility options to enable it only while inside an arena. Modules can also be disabled by zone type, if you want to see party auras while in a raid instance but nowhere else you can disable the module in raid instances only.

Profiles do not have to be swapped and it is all automatic.

Units
Supports unit frames are as follows:

Player: Player, Pet, Pet Target
General: Target, Target of Target, Target of Target of Target, Focus, Focus Target
Party: Party, Party Pets, Party Targets, Party ToT
Raid: Raid, Raid Pet, Main Tank, Main Tank Target, Main Assist, Main Assist Target, Boss, Boss Target, Boss ToT, Main Assist ToT, Main Tank ToT
Arena: Arena, Arena Target, Arena Pets, Arena ToT
Battleground: Battleground, Battleground Target, Battleground Target

Features

  • Tags: Includes a simple tagging system that can be customized in virtually any way using Lua, even if something isn't included by default odds are you can make the tags
  • Incoming Heals: Supports the Blizzard Events for incoming heal data, no external libraries needed
  • Auras: Can be set to only show auras you casted, or can cast on others. Can enlarge auras that you casted, and hide the cooldown ring on the timers of auras you didn't cast as well to make it more obvious which ones you casted and which ones you didn't
  • Aura Timers: You will need a mod such as OmniCC to show timers on buffs and debuffs
  • Aura Indicators: Display colored squares or icons for certain auras on any unit
  • Fader: Fades frames when out of combat and inactive (100% mana/no target)
  • Class Power (Eclipse, Holy Power, etc): Supports all of the class power features from Eclipse to Burning Embers.
  • Highlighting: Border highlighting of frames based on mousing over them, curable debuffs, aggro or you are targeting/focusing them
  • Range Checking: Fades frames out that are out of range of you
  • Exportable Layouts: If you have a layout, or your friend has a layout you want to try out you can export/import SUF layouts by going to /suf -> Layout Manager
  • Profiles: You can change from any profile to another one without reloading your UI, should you want to use a completely different layout based on zone you can easily switch profiles without hassle

Pretty much all the general unit frame settings are in, health bars, cast bars, power bars, portraits, indicators and so on.

Modules
Basic module support is included, should you be interested in building a module see the documentation on github for more information.

wrongway: That's not a bad idea, I'll see if I can switch it to that when I have time.

wishmeluck: Game Menu -> Interface -> Help -> Enable Lua errors, then try again.

Balkeep: No those are correct global names. Ultimately, I don't support 3rd party addons that modify the look and feel, so you're on your own.

Magyar: Enable lua errors in Game Menu -> Interface -> Help -> Enable Lua errors, try again.

Stratosfear: Set the bar color to static and change it that way.
oopsminded: Thanks! I'll look into it.

Bashui: No, you can only color by reaction if it's a player. You can't color by a set color if it's yourself.

I'm curious if there's a way I could have my pet's focus bar change colors to reflect his happiness rather than the health bar. I can see in the code where the colors are selected but that's about as far as I can get with my limited ability. I'm also using the class-colored power bar module, if that makes a difference?

Anyway, by far the best unit frame mod I've tried. And... I've pretty much tried them all. Keep it up!

Do the frames have any global names? cuz for some reason i failed to add borders to them using !beatycase by nc ( http://www.wowinterface.com/download...81-NeavUI.html )

Code like this
Code:
R, G, B = 1, 1, 1
Bsize = 5
CreateBorder(ChatFrame1, 16, R, G, B, Bsize, Bsize, Bsize, Bsize, Bsize, Bsize+5, Bsize, Bsize+5)
works great, but the same for SUFUnitplayer or SUFUnittarget doesnt want to work somewhy...

Missing frames

After I installed the latest update, my party frame has disappeared: doesn't seem to show whether I'm in a raid or out of a raid (I had set it to hide in raids). Also missing are the mini-health bars Blizzard uses for certain boss fights (the Gunship battle and Blood Princes). They might be the Arena unit frames - not being an Arena player I'm not sure. I didn't change any settings after the update.

Target of Target color

Is there a way to color the target of target bars a certain color if the target is the player? I would find this useful when tanking to make sure that my target is on me.

I just moved over from pitbull after doing some profiling. In a raid SUF is my most CPU intensive addon, but it is only about 20% of what pitbull3 was. Keep up the good work.

Got it again. Appeared after I released the corps in the previous arena, didn't die till that point so maybe that's what triggered it.

- It did go from 2>5 immediately.
- The new frame (skirmish, just one player in the other team) did partially replace the 1st of the old ones (new name, old class )
- in the next arena, with the same buggy 2+3, I did a /rl; when that ended and I got back in game, the fight was already on by a few seconds, and no frames appeared for the entire fight
- got 2 correct ones the next game; got 2+3 immediately after, and for another game, before doing an /exit

SS from the first time it appeared and the game where the new frame didn't appear correctly; I will copy my profile and do a fresh install later today/tomorrow

Error with last final and alpha.

Hi shadowed,

just updated to the latest Alpha since I was getting the following error every time I was trying to open the config menu with the command /suf

This still happens for me in the latest alpha from wowace. Any advises?

Error:

Hi!

Okay, I got the latest version at wowace. The one on the big download link and not the alpha one.. was that right? Version 3.2.5

I logged in and reset the profile. Immediately 2 errors popped out:

Then I started customizing. I enabled only "Player", "Target", "Focus", "Target of Target", "Pet", and "Focus Target" under "Unit Configuration", resized the Player bar (only), unlinked frames, and moved them all around. The "Lock frames/ Unlink frames" window still responded and closed when finished.

When I tried to turn on the "On curable debuff" option under "Global" with all 6 frames ("Player", "Target", "Focus", "Target of Target", "Pet", and "Focus Target") checked, the 2nd error repeated itself and it wouldn't toggle on. This error also repeated itself when I turned on the "On curable debuff" option one by one per unit, although this time they did toggle on when clicked (unlike the Global).

Said error again repeated itself when I moved the Target Buffs to the left of frame. The Buff location dropdown stayed saying "Left", but the buff icons themselves stayed under the frame, both test and real buff icons. I tried switching between left and bottom locations back and forth, and the buff icons still stayed underneath. This switching back and forth produced 3 more errors, one of them being the same 2nd error (above):

Third Error:

After this, I tried clicking on the "Lock Frames/ Unlink Frames" popup and it went into its "I shall sit here and not go away" mode. Also, I tried changing the dimensions of the Target and Player bars and they did not respond to slider adjustments. Target of Target, Focus, and Focus Target still responded to dimension changes, though.
