Inquest  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 2.03
by: arnath_vp [More]

NOTE: Inquest WILL be updated for 3.3. It's just going to take me a few days because Blizz neutered the tracker frame in this patch.

Inquest is a quest log and tracker mod.

Please post bug reports and feature requests in my author portal. The links can be found under the Download button in the box on the right hand side.

General features:

  • Show quest levels in quest log and tracker
  • Show quest tags (e.g., G for group, D for dungeon, etc) in quest log and tracker
  • Auto quest completion for quests without reward choices
  • Small LDB data source that shows current number of quests and lets you toggle showing the tracker

Quest log features:
  • Move the quest log anywhere on screen
  • Show a message on quest completion
  • Echo quest progress to party chat
  • Play a sound on quest completion, objective completion, or objective progress (supports some standard sounds like "Work Complete!" as well as SharedMedia)

  • Change tracker line spacing
  • Auto-hide the tracker in various situations (always, when empty, in a 5-man instance, in a raid instance, in PvP)
  • Click bindings to open the quest log/achievement window, stop tracking, share quest, abandon quest, insert chat link, or show the new Blizzard dropdown menu

Tooltip features:
  • Show quest information on item tooltips
  • Show quest and achievement tooltips on the tracker

I can't seem to find a working toggle for seeing it myself, only for chat messages to the grp. (toggling "show a message when you complete a quest" did nothing at all. But comenting out those lines fixed it)

Guessing that commenting out

Code:
if(self.db.profile.questCompletionMessage) then
		UIErrorsFrame:AddMessage(string_format(L["%s Completed!"], questTitle), 1.0, 0.8, 0.0, 1.0, UIERRORS_HOLD_TIME)
	end
Solves the hiding part.

would it be possible to somehow open the questlog instead of a single page for the specific quest on left click?

Also, can the "Questname" Completed! text be either hidden, or routed to SCT/MSBT/simmilar addon?

Indeed, they are terrible. I also missed the notification sounds.

Party Echo Messages

Hi again.

I just noticed in the Change Log notes you mention, "Changed echo to party to happen on objective or quest completion to make it less spammy".

Could you maybe make that an option (defaulted to off probably) to show on objective progression instead of hardcoding it off? I level with others a ton, and it really is amazingly handy to have party chat showing something like "Cookoo Feathers 5/25" instead of constantly having to ask everyone 'So how many more do you need?'.

Right now I'm running TomQuest2 alongside Inquest for, literally, no other reason than to handle the party broadcasts. I'd love to be able to streamline a bit and get rid of TomQuest2.

LDB Suggestion

Heya!

Love love love Inquest, totally wonderful quest log replacement! One teeny tiny request though: on the LDB display, could you add an option to include 'number of completed quests'? For example, "3/10/25" instead of just "10/25", something like that.

That would be most appreciated. Thanks for all your work on InQuest!

I'd wanna suggest a option to change whenever to anchor the questext from left to right (hence to easier anchor the quest items)

EDIT: This is how i mean...

Just a few ideas for improvement I thought I'd through your way

1) Option to Colorize Quest Title in Tracker based on level.

2) Option to Colorize Objectives (just the 0/10 part) from red through green based on how far through it you are.

3) Option to set color of other text. (Personally I'd rather have white objective text than yellow)

Just a few idea's that was.

I'll look into this. Thanks for the bug report.
Doublewide works fine. I just think it's sloppy work for an author to not keep current with toc. Some of us don't like loading out of date addons and frankly don't see why we should when it takes about 30 seconds to edit a file. I look for reasons to replace/dump these mods and thought I'd ask you because you do such a great job staying on top of things. I didn't know that about 3.2 though, nevermind the suggestion. I'm looking forward to dumping another mod with that patch.

Thank you for being a responsible author.

I'll continue using Doublewide with yours, I was just hoping to find something still current that provides the 2 window display and thought I'd suggest it since it seems to fit in with your mod's function/purpose pretty well.

Great work, thanks so much!

I have mine set to grow upwards and right. And minimize to bottom left. Works great.

However if I log out with it minimized, when I log back in the title bar is where it would be when visible, and I have to minimize/restore 2 times to get it back to where it should be.
I'll look into this. Thanks for the bug report.
