hud  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 1.2
by: Mickelus [More]

hud

Configuration can be accessed with /hud

Most things should work now exept changing animations on health and power bar, left and right block and settings for runes/cp.

Clicking the top left and top right corners of your screen should do the same thing as clicking your playerframe and targetframe.

Known bugs:
-health and power bars may act strange/show inaccurate values when their values increases and/or decreases rapidly
-combo points may not show when changing to a target that you already have combo points on

I belive a video would explain the addon better than a picture.

1.2: Fixed bugs with target power bar(texcoords and UNIT_DISPLAYPOWER)
1.1: fixed some sort of bug I think.
1: Fixed bugged bars!

9: Colors for targetbars, target health changes.
8.1: Fixed bug! loelz
8: Implented some sort of interaction thing, toc bumped.
7: Fixed bugs from release 6.
6: Added condition based fading and profiles.
5: Range checks should now be fully implented.
4: Added a castbar, or more like a castring.
3: Left, right and bottom bars should now be able to track buffs/debuffs.
2: you may now use the sweeping animation on the healthbar. Now using .zip . Does not yet use blizzards animation system (me so slack). toc bump.
1: Initial release

It would definitely be cool if you could implement a kind of profile management system so we could configure different set-ups for different classes/characters.

For the little bars you wanted to know what to do with I would prefer an aggro display in & which shows your aggro for the target. The other one could be Indicator which starts to blink when your is over a certain percentage.

It would also be great if you could introduce an enemy cast bar.

Forgot. Possibly a pet health bar somwhere?

Meant to add... for pet healthbar, color by happiness (hunters) or just regular (locks.dk's etc)

Question with a suggestion.

The target bar. Is it supposed to color depending on target? If so, it isn't for me or I've missed the option to enable it.

Suggestion wise. If it's not already in the works or implemented...Implement an option to color the target by class / reaction etc?

So these next few suggestions could actually be options for the 3 extra bars. (left/right/bottom)

The "castbar" is pretty cool with the rotation increase, however while having a smoke and thinking of possibilities to implove it...

Use the "Bar" as an actual player / target castbar? would fit the theme nicely.

And in regards to said castbar...add a latency zone? (like how Quarts does) the red zone that helps you judge when you can cast next.

Second idea. Player casted debuffs. As a Hunter, I currently use Quarts. It has options for target buffs/debuffs of which I only have Debuffs enabled. This lets me keep a good eye on my stings, hunter's mark etc without having to see EVERYone's debuff's on the target as well.

Thirdly. There is an addon called "CooldownWatch" its a set of cooldown bars but rather than tracking EVERY possible CD etc, YOU add what spells to monitor. Saves a load of overwhelming options as well as memory usage and it is super easy to setup. Just drag an drop.

I think those 3 bar ideas would make this an even more amazing hud and would keep the nice "circular/rounded" look / flow to the mod. Rather than the nice roundness and then straight castbars/cd's etc from various other mods.

The idea of having all this in one, at least for me, is something that is pretty exciting. Eliminating a boat load of addons for 1.

At anyrate. Those were my ideas for now. keep up the great work! Awesome HUD.

I noticed that some of the settings for the hud configured through the /hud command were being saved across characters and not per-character (rangecheck, health/powerbar colors to name a few). Was this intentional?

heres one..

an option to turn the cast bar (im assuming is the spinning thing in middle) into a compass of sorts for us instant cast clickers (enhance shaman ftw), or those questers i see a lot of!?

also, these both sound far down the road, but building some preset layouts for classes/specs. ive seen addons tell what your class is and thus show healing/dps/etc. like the comments about picking up rage over mana, etc.

Love the addon thus far, anxious for next release!

I had initially thought of trying it that way but found that there were a couple disadvantages to it.

First and foremost being that I can never remember which color belongs to which class so for me it is better to have it spelled out to remove any doubt.

Second, with the way the top bar now colors any target that is a friendly player is green, pets and npc's are yellow, and any aggressive mob or pvp shows up as red. This points out very quickly at a glance what is a threat and what is not. The other way you may not have a clear indicator of which players are friends or foes in tight pvp combat since the bar would be colored the same by class regardless if the are friendly or not.

Edit:
Just finished migrating my mods into the latest build with cast bar. The more I play with this HUD the more I like it. Can't wait to see what it evolves into in the future. Keep up the excellent work.

The current buff/debuff frames are placeholders. As you might have noticed they don't really fit in with the rest.

Think chronos78 did a good job with those little modifications. Class-based health coloring for pvp enemies would be great as well.

Btw, would it be possible to have some kind of configuration for bigger debuffs/buffs? I can barely seem them atm. I'd also love to have a couple of buff/debuff filtering options like "only show my debuffs", add/remove specific spells etc.

All in all, great stuff.

I certainly like the sound of the potential modifications made below by chronos78.

I think they could add alot to the usability of the hud.

Great job on the castbar, now we have something good to work with.

Great Addon - Now even better with my own modifications

Really like this AddOn but I wanted a little more functionality with it, so...
  1. Target bar now changes color to reflect the target's reaction.
  2. Health bar changes from green to red based on percentage of health remaining.
  3. Target's remaining & total health points are displayed beneath its name.
  4. If the target is a player their class is displayed in brackets after their name.
  5. The HUD only displays when a target is selected. (This turned out to be much better than only being visible in combat. Especially with the target's total HP being shown now. It allows me to better gauge how to deal with the potential threat.)

Hope you don't mind me tinkering around with your code.

Suggestion for extra bars

Suggestion for those little bars:

Light up if player (left block) or target (right block) is CCed... polymorph, fear, etc.

or...

Light up if health is below 20% (left) or when mana is below 20% (right). This would probably be easier to code and make more sense.
