Gnomish Yellow Pages  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: r48beta
by: lilsparky [More]

The Gnomish Yellow Pages will monitor all chat traffic to identify people advertising trade skills. As trade skill ads are identified, they are recorded and stored for later retrieval.

type:
/gyp

to bring up a window with all information in an easy to read table.

strangers names appear in white
guildmates are displayed in green
friends are displayed in yellow

anybody in your local zone is shown in cyan

all offline players are red

the row of trade skill buttons will access the entire database of trade recipes so you can search for whatever recipe you wish. click to open whatever trade skill browser you use.

when browsing a trade skill, selecting a recipe will cause gyp to update the trade link color to light blue if that recipe is contained in that link. also any searches in the trade skill browser will be reflected in the gyp link color -- links that contain none of the recipes returned by the search will be dark yellow; normal yellow links indicate that at least one of the recipes in the browser window matches the trade link.

Say something like /script ALilRoutine("tailoring")

oh my bad. it's ctrl-x not delete.

when you say one of the tradeskill windows, i take you mean one from the list in gyp, yeah? how would you select which one? or do you mean the shopping list buttons?
not sure i have enough globals exposed to do either from a macro, honestly.

Yeah it just came in my mind last time I had a bigger deal and had to look up who can craft it all.
But since that occours not often it's not that necessary.

i've considered this before, but i dunno if another column starts to get to be too much. i could maybe make a mechanism to toggle between level and known recipe count (or percentage)... or maybe another column would be more straight forward... i dunno.

the thing about the recipe counts (which you can see for anybody if you mouse over their level) is that they're not exactly accurate. i don't bother to identify recipes that haven't been activated yet so there are a few recipes that nobody has (or can get yet). still, relative numbers are accurate -- 90% is more than 85% but nobody would get 100%.

i'll give it some more thought...

you can delete by selecting (single-click, drag-click, or shift-click) and then hit delete.

no way yet to filter out unwanted trades.

interesting. i think there might be a problem if somebody posts an ad for a link that doesn't open. this is what cause the problem originally -- that the ads don't open when clicked. because gyp tries to verify each link it gets, if it fails to open the link it becomes confused. it's possible that people are advertising old links -- ie, they made a macro prior to 3.1 that was a hardcoded version of their trade skill which might not be compatible with the latest client (different number of potential skills).

this would explain why its intermittent -- it depends on what links people are posting.

i'll see about how i can fix it...

I've tried running Gnomish Yellow Pages without any other add-ons and as far as I can tell that works just fine. I'm a leatherworker and had a feeling the error was occurring after learning a new pattern and then re-opening my leatherworking window. Testing this, it didn't provoke the error. So as of now I haven't been able to narrow the add-ons down. I understand that the list of dozens of add-ons doesn't exactly help. If I can track down at least a smaller number of add-ons, I will report back with my findings. Until then, this report is unfortunately the best I can do ;-)

Greetings,

Contiki
