Would it be possible to set a limit on how often WinterTime can send that "Wintergrasp in X minutes. PST me for invite" message? I know it's not the addon's fault, but there are people who use it to spam every 2 seconds nonstop. Requesting them to tone it down doesn't help; they are quite brazen about telling other people to just put them on ignore or "stfu", and they continue spamming. As we only get a few ignore slots, it's not really feasible to put every WinterTime feature abuser on ignore. Putting a throttle of, say, at least only 1 advertisement per minute in public chat would certainly calm them down.

You will have to be a little bit more specific I'm afraid.

Is there any way to configure this to work with SLDT? Or able to be reskinned?

That would be nice wouldn't it. Sadly enough Blizzard does not allow that. Either you have assist and can do everything, or you don't.

Would be nice if you could disable the ready check button with a command, but still keep everyone with invite rights to the raid.

I can think of some complicated coding scenarios whereby - as a player gets given assistant permission in a raid WinterTime would broadcast a "im about to start inviting" on its private channel with the current zone and raid id and a random number from 1 to 100. If no other WinterTime instance responds with a higher roll, then it turns on auto-invites. Any Wintertime instance that is already inviting (i.e. the raid leader) and in the same zone responds with its raidid, zone and _100_. 5 seconds after sending the breadcast, the WinterTime instance with the highest roll 'keeps' or gets invite permissions.

Alternately, just let the players specify "I Know Best" and force AutoRaid on even if theyre not the raid leader. Most people should be polite enough to not force it on if the raid is filling up nicely anyway.

It looks like this is only going to be an issue for another 2 weeks or so anyway as the patch has started background downloading already.

Collisions are indeed the problem. I have already built in a system to detect wintergrasp raids, but think about the time requirement for a scan invite request:

Player A detects it
A: Sends it over the network
A: Waits for a response
B: Responds
C: Responds
D: Responds
E: Responds
A: Picks the best one (closest to 40?) and asks that that C, (raid leader), invite the person.
C: Invites the person.

Total time elapsed, 5 seconds. By that time it is likely that another raid leader, not running WinterTime, has already snatched the person up.

Forcing a merge seems a little heavy handed. In an upcoming patch you will be able to see all the raids that have at least one member running WinterTime. (Beta) I may code something in that will pop a message on the raid leader of the smaller raid that asks him if he would like to merge raids.

3.2
----
Players not already in a raid will be set into a raid automatically. This is still in the testing phase but it appears that if you enter Wintergrasp without a party or raid then you will be lumped into a raid rather like AV. This may negate the point of listening in General chat, I am still discussing it with the GMs.

Thanks for the prompt feedback.
For scenario 2 and 3, it would still be nice if we at least had the option to force it into invite mode without being raid leader. Im not sure if it can detect collisions... If there are multiple people in the raid using WinterTime it should also be possible for WinterTime to detect that?

In an ideal world you would have no Job or Life and WinterTime would have the following features :P
* WinterTime would scan the raid to find other WinterTime users. For all winterTime instances in one raid, in the same zone, some kind of /roll process would elected one WinterTime instance as the master inviter.
* WinterTime would additionally detect other WG raids by discovering other WinterTime users that are in a WG raid, just not the current one. In the case of two small raids that could merge into one, an automated /kick /invite sequence could automatically merge the raids.

These are crazy big features. I do not expect them. But, at the very least, being able to diagnose "bad raids" would be nice. i.e. a warning message if Wintertime does detect multiple small raids, and the ability to force invites on (if the raid leader is not detected running wintertime).

Scenario 1, I have been busy trying to integrate into the new Wintergrasp of 3.2. I will get to it in a bit.

Scenario 2-3 choices are by design. Let me see if I can explain my reasoning:

2, Imagine if everyone in the raid had assist and everyone in the raid was running WinterTime. Should more than 1 person enable 'auto-raid' the resulting spam would be enormous. That is why only a raid leader can do it.

3, Once again, imagine that there are 30 people in Wintergrasp running WinterTime. Someone says "invite" in general, and gets spammed with 30 invite requests. So, once again, only the raid leader can invite from general. Same with 'Say'.

4, That is an interesting idea. I have put some thought into 'syncing' the game timer but not to simply hide it. I will see what it takes to do that.

Feature Requests...

WinterTime is really the best of the Wintergrasp addons.

However, some of the other WG addons have some features that I would really like - Or I am not understanding WinterTime fully.

Scenario 1 - Ive started a WG raid. People in my raid are in other zones and want to invite. WinterTime does not (have an option to) promote new members to assistant so I have to manually do it.

Scenario 2 - Ive joined a pre-existing raid and have been given raid assistant rights. The raid leader is NOT using a WG invite addon so I would like WinterTime to start inviting people. If I try to turn on AutoRaid it tells me Im not eligable, and im seeing a lot of "invite" in /t and its not sending invites.

Scenario 3 - similar to #2 - Im in WG and the leader is in Dalaran. Id like to get some inviting done and its not responding to invite requests in /1

My last point - The WinterTime timer is the feature that really makes this addon truely more useful than the competition. However, when In Wintergrasp, there is already a built in timing frame part of the default UI. I would like the option to inhibit, replace, and/or attach the WinterTime counters to the Blizzard default frame while in WG.
A 'borderless' display option to draw just the text while locked would also clean up a bit of screen clutter - I like a minimalistic UI without lots of visible frames boxing stuff.

just wanted to say that this mod is awesome

though i do get alot of confused people when i announce the time because of the ##:##:## format, they have to double check that it's ## mins and not seconds, etc but I bet it happens to alot of people

but still a cool mod

Alright, I looked at Blizzards code and I think I might have found a source to the conflict.

I have changed the code slightly in the next patch, you will have to tell me if it works.

I am sorry I have not been able to get to this issue sooner, it is extremely hard to troubleshoot something when it works perfectly fine on my machine, and 99% of others.

There is no reason for this, Wow on one computer should be the same as Wow on another computer, but I have encountered a similar problem before.
