DockingStation (Display)  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 0.5.26 (Beta)
by: Vrul [More]

A display platform for LibDataBroker (LDB) based plug-ins. The display is provided through panels, each having sections (Left, Center, Right) corresponding with how a plugin is justified within it.

All plugins are disabled by default and you must turn on the ones you want to use. This is to avoid the complete mess that results from all plugins being on with the first use. The only plugin on at the start is the one provided by this addon to access its options easily. Just click it to start changing settings.

With plugins unlocked you can drag and drop them to other panels/sections and have them automatically adjust to their new location. There are no limitations on the drag and drop capabilities other than the new location for a plugin must be within a panel. You may also change the location of a plugin through the plugin options menu.

Almost all sub-sections of settings have a default option. The defaults follow a set pattern. First plugins check their settings, if default, they next go to their panel's settings. If the panel is also set to default then it defers to the addon's global settings. Finally, if the global settings are still set to default, then the hard coded defaults are used.

Note: It is recommended that you delete the folder(s) for an existing addon when updating to a different version. This is to keep files that are no longer used from taking up space.

Translators: To submit a translation please just edit existing files (example: DockingStation\Locales\deDE.lua and DockingStation_Config\Locales\deDE.lua) and send them to me.

Question Settings lost with each update...

Whenever I update addons, I always delete the previous addon directory before copying the new one. I've noticed that each and everytime up update DockingStation, all previous settings are lost and I start with an empty bar in the middle of the screen with only the DockingStation plugin active. All settings are lost.

Are you aware of this issue?

Vrul is this doable? Seems pretty straight forward since you already did it for text. I don't use a background - I make it transparent and put it on top of a kgpanels background. So, not sure if that inset fix will work for my situation.

Excellent addon, I made the switch from fuBar today and the only quibble I have is no auto-hide feature (unless I'm dumb and missed that option?) Any chance you could implement it?
Many thanks for making this addon!

Gap Issue

The version I just put up allows you to change the panel setting for the background inset to -1 to workaround the "gap" some are getting at the screen edges.

If you can add in the ability to have a vertical bar, I can stop using two LDB displays and just use this. It does everything I need it to.

One minor minor detail as well: can you chance the spacing element to be like "interior padding" instead? Like... say, 5 pixels between outer edges to the plugin? What I'm getting is that the icons I drag into the display push right up to the top/bottom borders. So since I already have left/right padding, I would like that to apply to top/bottom as well.

Anyway, </rant>

Cheers on a great display addon.

question about your display screenshot

Howdy.

Great addon I like it so far for me it seems to give back my FPS and doesn't give me the .5 second stutters I get with fubar which I like very much to but I have choosen to stay with this for a while and give it a good run through.

And question I have is about the screenshot you have, on the right side there is a colored bar grey and red I think what is that and where can I find it? I didn't see that build in so I assume it is a plug-in.

As for scaling, all sizes are relative to your screen resolution. The panel's height/width is automatically adjusted if you change your resolution. All plugin component sizes are proportional to the height of the panel they are in. It makes sense in the long run but I could see where it would be confusing if you aren't expecting it.

Is this solved by what you mention above? Also can you make a "scaling" option separate to "bar height"? Bar height shouldn't have an effect on the scale of the bar as it currently does.

There is a "Reset Position" button (DockingStation->Panels->Position) that will move a panel to its anchor point with no offsets.

Anyone that had an issue with a gap between a panel and the edge of the screen should set the anchor to the top/bottom and reset its position. If the gap remains after doing that then the issue is with the way Blizzard is processing screen clamping and I'll have to work around it.

Version 0.1.1 (Beta)

A new version is up and these are the significant changes:

Configuration
This is still load on demand but now better behaved. It still won't show up in the Interface->AddOns menu until you click on the plugin or use the slash command (/dockingstation) once.

Move Blizzard Frames
This works but a panel's anchor changes it slighly. Any panel anchored to any portion of the top/bottom of the screen will always move the respective frames. Any frame anchored to the middle (CENTER, LEFT, RIGHT) will move the top frames if above the middle of the screen, otherwise the bottom frames are moved.

Thanks, the background transparency worked perfectly. I knew I was missing something!

I too have the tiny gap at the top of the screen. Not a big deal, but one more datapoint for ya.

i like the mouseover feature you have planned, i also would like to request to have a keybinding feature to toggle select bars.

another thing which i liked about fubar was the ability to send things to the minimap instead (which i then routed to minimapbuttonframe) would be nice if i could get a few things sent down there if possible

thanks

EDIT: i also would like to make a bar that only shows in combat, for stat related stuff like dps

I changed DockingStation_Config to enabled by default as that was an error on my part. I added a slash command (/dockingstation) that will act as if clicking the launcher for those that don't have it enabled. These changes aren't up yet but are ready for the next update when I have it ready.

I can't seem to get transparency to work. I would like to background to be around 60% transparent without impacting visibility of the icons or text. I'm pretty sure I was able to do this in previous versions, but can't get it to work now. Any thoughts?
I moved the alpha control (entire panel's transparency) to the panel's appearance controls which may have thrown you off. You want to go under the panel's background controls, click the color box, and change the alpha through the slider there for background only transparency.

I'm sure you'll get that gap problem addressed shortly
I know about the gap issue but it doesn't occur on any machine I have access to, making it quite difficult to fix. I do keep trying to come up with ideas of what could be causing it and changing the code accordingly so hopefully one will work eventually. If nothing else I can always disable the screen clamping for panels, which may be part of the issue anyway, but I want to save that as a last resort.

LOD not functional

Bug report:

If the dockingstation config launcher isn't shown in a bar, the dockingstation_config does not show up in the interface addons screen and more importantly there is NO WAY to get it to show up. To fix this, I had to edit the TOC, set LOD to 0 and defaultstate to enabled, add it to my bar, and change the TOC back.

Also, I can't seem to get transparency to work. I would like to background to be around 60% transparent without impacting visibility of the icons or text. I'm pretty sure I was able to do this in previous versions, but can't get it to work now. Any thoughts?

Thanks again for a great addon!
