DockingStation (Display)  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 0.5.26 (Beta)
by: Vrul [More]

A display platform for LibDataBroker (LDB) based plug-ins. The display is provided through panels, each having sections (Left, Center, Right) corresponding with how a plugin is justified within it.

All plugins are disabled by default and you must turn on the ones you want to use. This is to avoid the complete mess that results from all plugins being on with the first use. The only plugin on at the start is the one provided by this addon to access its options easily. Just click it to start changing settings.

With plugins unlocked you can drag and drop them to other panels/sections and have them automatically adjust to their new location. There are no limitations on the drag and drop capabilities other than the new location for a plugin must be within a panel. You may also change the location of a plugin through the plugin options menu.

Almost all sub-sections of settings have a default option. The defaults follow a set pattern. First plugins check their settings, if default, they next go to their panel's settings. If the panel is also set to default then it defers to the addon's global settings. Finally, if the global settings are still set to default, then the hard coded defaults are used.

Note: It is recommended that you delete the folder(s) for an existing addon when updating to a different version. This is to keep files that are no longer used from taking up space.

Translators: To submit a translation please just edit existing files (example: DockingStation\Locales\deDE.lua and DockingStation_Config\Locales\deDE.lua) and send them to me.

Would it be possible to fix this?
I'm in the middle of redoing large sections of code so nothing new will be ready for a bit, but in the next version all the special tooltip stuff will be gone.

There seems to be conflict between TipTac, DockingStation and the latest RC of Spartan UI (located here: http://www.spartanui.com/forum/index.php?topic=1278)

When hovering over most plugins on the panel, the tooltip is transparent

This will more than likely be fixed in the upcoming version of DockingStation - Vrul is re-working how DS handles Tooltips. At the moment, it's overly aggressive with them.

The issue lies with TipTac aswell, when you have Frame Tip Anchoring set to Mouse instead of Normal, you get the transparent issue. No problems when it's set to Normal. I thought initially it was a problem with SpartanUI, you can read the responses here at the bottom: http://www.spartanui.com/forum/index.php?topic=1278.345

Xtoq: ''I figured more out I think. The reason is that when you set the frame tips to be on the mouse, but you don't change the anchor position, the UI can't try to draw the tips off screen. I only had it happen to me with oUF and the player frames, but that's fine, the solution is simple: set the frame tip to "Mouse Anchor" then make sure the "Frame Tip Point" is NOT anything starting with "Bottom." I imagine this has something to do with trying to draw things off screen, but I have no idea what SUI does that would cause this behavior. Either way though, selecting a different anchor point than "Bottom Right" (which anchors your tooltip's bottom right corner to your mouse if you have it set to "Mouse Anchor") works out. The problem with this is that if you have a bottom info bar in DS then those tooltips suffer from the same problem as the top ones. Best to not have those tooltips anchored to the mouse, but either to Normal Anchor or Parent Anchor. Hope this also helps.

This should happen with all tooltips though, which leads me to believe that somewhere there's a library that's not being called properly, or an old version of a library being called, or something along those lines. Some of the affected tooltips use LibQTip, some don't, its all pretty weird. And techincally the issue is with TipTac, since that's the addon that's repositioning the tooltips. Without Tiptac all the tips appear fine. But don't worry, I wouldn't want to get rid of TipTac either! Just set your anchor points and frame points to different positions as detailed above.''

3.2 strata issue

I have not done extensive testing but every time I log into WoW several of my panels plugins are below the panel itself, resulting in unclickable plugins in my transparent panels and invisible plugins in my opaque ones. Once I pick up a panel and move it, then the plugins become available again. I get an error (will post when I get home) regarding "frame.xml" and "uiparent" but doesn't name DS as a culprit. I know you're working on the code and there's no new update yet, but thought I would bring this to your attention. I'll do some troubleshooting and grab you that error message a little later tonight.

Edit: Here's the error I get when logging in:

Date: 2009-08-05 12:47:57
ID: -6
Error occured in: Global
Count: 1
Message: ..\FrameXML\UIParent.lua line 232:
attempt to concatenate local 'reason' (a nil value)
Debug:
(tail call): ?
[C]: ?
..\FrameXML\UIParent.lua:232: UIParentLoadAddOn()
..\FrameXML\UIParent.lua:303: TimeManager_LoadUI()
..\FrameXML\UIParent.lua:485:
..\FrameXML\UIParent.lua:471

EDIT: THis only happens on mymain, so I have to find some time to reconfigure my DS panels and see what the problem is. I suspect it is SUI because when I disable it the panels show up fine, but there were no changes to SUI or DS so I'm not really sure. Most likely a problem between keyboard and chair...

Yeah, every addon I have installed is changed to be disabled by default. I was just always to lazy to remove that line before uploading. Since I haven't played for quite some time I guess I could remove it since it won't impact me now.

I have a question regarding tooltips, and I use Docking Station. I'm sure this is something that affects all tooltips and info bars, but figured I'd ask here as DS is one of the most popular ones.

I have some action bars right above my bottom DS bar, both bars and panel set to only show on mouseover. The problem is, when I mouseover an LDB plugin, then mouseover the tooltip (for plugins with a clickable tooltip) the action bar that is BELOW the tooltip is also shown, as if the mouse being in the frame counts as long as the mouse is in the pixel area of the button. Now, I hadn't noticed this before, but I have never had this setup before, so is this intended behavior or am I missing something? Its only a minor irritant, and mostly its aesthetic, but to me, when my mouse is over an element that is above the action bars, my mouse isn't exactly over the action bars, and shouldn't show the bar. Really, I just want my UI to be psychic I guess.

Anywho, just wondering if this is normal, intended behavior, and if it is, is there a possibility of it being changed ever?

I actually quit playing about 3 weeks before I even started writing DockingStation, so yes, an update is still coming. My time has been very limited for a few months so it has been slow going on getting all the code changes done that I want to make.

I frequently swap between a laptop and a desktop. Desktop runs 1920x1080, Laptop runs 1920x1200. Copying config.wtf and Interface\ and WTF\ between machines.

Forcing gxResolution in config.wtf to "1920x1080" and running wow in a window to preserve my carefully crafted UI aspect ratio. (Pulls hair out)

Everything working right, but DockingStation is bombing out hard. Filling the LUA error log with:

LibDisplayAssist-1.1.lua:18:attempt to call method 'GetResolutionInfo' (a nil value)
Count:14821 (and counting)

in function 'GetResolutionInfo' ..\Addons\DockingStation\Libs\LibDisplayAssist-1.1.lua

Most likely a bug or issue with LibDisplayAssist, but since I looked at the code and can't really figure out what LibDisplayAssist is trying to do... I thought I'd ask here

I thought I'd ask here
What version are you using? Back in April I switched to using LibDisplayAssist-1.2 which better deals with odd situations like the one you mention.

Those plugins are not written properly and that is why they don't show up.

Gads - version 0.2.17 if the toc file is to be trusted. I wonder why minion didn't pick this up. Let me try the newest and see if anything improves.
