GathererDB WoWHead  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 2.0.2013-06-15
by: Esamynn, dinesh, MentalPower, Nechckn, Norganna, norganna_uploader

WoWInterface is happy to announce that we have teamed up with Wowhead and the Norganna's AddOns Gatherer team to provide you with an exclusive downloadable Wowhead database for display in-game by Gatherer.

This addon will provide you with all the information currently in the Wowhead database showing all known locations of herbs, minerals and treasures. Now you can simply load up Gatherer, plug this database into it, and know what can be found in the zone you are in, without having to discover them yourself.

Wowhead will be providing regular dumps of their database to the Norganna team, who will then update the GathererDB Wowhead addon exclusively here on WoWInterface.

How it works
The import procedure is simple and painless. Once you have installed the AddOn and have reloaded the game, ensuring that both Gatherer and GathererDB_Wowhead are activated. When you finally log into the game, follow this procedure to import the new data into Gatherer:

  • Open Gatherer's configuration dialog.
  • Click on the red "Database" tab on the left-hand side of the dialog.
  • Click the import button in the main panel.

Make sure to add GathererDB-Wowhead to your favourites list here on WoWInterface and check back periodically to see if it's been updated, or get an email sent to you whenever they update it if you have those notifications turned on. Any time they update it, just re-download GathererDB-Wowhead and update your local copy.

Help improve the database
If you want to contribute your data back to Wowhead to continue expanding the database, please download and install the Wowhead client (available for both PC and Mac) and just follow the instructions on their site.

About Gatherer
Gatherer is an addon for herbalists, miners and treasure hunters in World of Warcraft. It's main purpose is to track the closest plants, deposits and treasure locations on your minimap.

The addon does not track like a tracking ability does, rather it "remembers" where you have found various items in the past. It does this whenever you gather (perform herbalism, mining, or opening) on an item, and records the specific map location in its history. From then on, whenever the item comes into range of being one of the closest 1-25 (configurable) items to your present location, it will pop up on the minimap.

When you view your World Map, you will also see the item locations clearly marked on each zone's map.

About Wowhead
Wowhead was created with one sole intent: to provide World of Warcraft players with an extensive database and tools to enhance their gaming experience. This website is our contribution to this wonderful game.

Our user community is a big part, if not the biggest part, of Wowhead. Almost all of our information comes from our users, through data uploads from the Wowhead Client, comments on database entries and screenshot submissions! The site also features forums, where users can ask questions, discuss important Warcraft-related topics, recommend and share favorite addons, and much more!

Updated to support Gatherer 4.0.4.

19 DEC 2010 Updated the node list and have included what data is available for the gigantic changes seen in WoW 4.x.

09 DEC 2009 Updated to the most recent set of nodes and updated TOC for WoW 3.3

18 FEB 2009 Updated to the latest nodes, including those recently renamed in 3.0.8.

29 DEC 2008 Corrected some inconsistencies between GathererDB and Gatherer. Included more node locations.

05 DEC 2008 Corrected issues in the script pertaining to Icecrown, node IDs, and a few more nodes included in the DB.

04 DEC 2008 Corrected Icecrown naming, items should now appear in that zone.

03 DEC 2008a The correct, expanded DB file and other changes.

03 DEC 2008 Added yet more Northrend and other WotLK node locations, formatting of file, et cetera.

Gatherer DB for WoW 5.0

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to let everyone know that I am actively working on updating the database for the new WoW patch and for Mists of Pandaria, but it is not yet ready.

You can expect a working and updated database to be made available by Sept. 25 2012 (MoP Launch Day).

Performing import of wowheadDB error lines.

i noticed your post about updating/upgrading by the launch of MOP, I figured the more info the better bug squashing.

Re: Performing import of wowheadDB error lines.

Ditto with the line 92 bug, but mine doesnt have the 'locals' errors his did so I thought I'd post it too. The oddest thing Ive noticed is that the addon not only wont import, it turns itself off and removes it from the greater addons list at the character screen. It's the craziest thing. Ive had it do this 3 times now and thought somehow I was removing it but Im not. This is install #4 and Im paying better attention now, I'll try to watch more specifically for times and/or error messages.
EDIT: I watched the timing. It disappears when you close the game. Beforehand it just sits doing nothing, afterward it's completely missing from any list of addons you can see (except obviously the WoW interface folder)

After it removed itself from the addon list at the character screen and I re-DL'd it, I realized the Gatherer DB folder was still in the interface > addons file when it asked me if I wanted to over-write. I did a completely clean install of Gatherer (it would have hurt losing all my nodes, except none showed so..) and once again tried importing nodes. No dice, and I got a LUA message (which I accidentally erased so I cant say that it's the same one as today. Randomly today I decided to try another import and that's when I realized the DB option was completely gone on the config screen, and when I went to character selection, it was gone from there too. Uhhh.. what more might you need.. HUD is on, Ive imported it many times before without problem so it's not like Im forgetting a step. It's just decided ... not to be there anymore, I guess?

Fix for line 92 error.

It worked perfectly for me, but use at your own risk: Copy all the text on the page, paste and replace all the text in DB_WowheadMain.lua.

Those changes work for me as well.

There is also a bug I have encountered for a while now. This never loads any mining or herb data for Icecrown.

Also I was wondering if you get a chance after you update the mod to post this on curse as well.

Update for MOP?

The author mentioned an update in time for Mists of Pandaria (which releases tonight at midnight server time). Any word on that?

Database Update

Hi Everyone,

I have just posted an updated version which works with Gatherer 4.0.4 (also just released). Unfortunately, this release doesn't include any new data, but I am still working on new data and I'm hoping to have a new version out sometime tonight or tomorrow if I can get my scripts working correctly.

In the mean time, I felt it was important to provide an update so that things worked correctly for the existing data.

Happy Gathering!

I don't have any "Database" button either.
I am having the same problem. I made sure the slidebar and HUD are enabled. What should be listed under addons? I have Gatherer and its sub-item for the heads up display, but I do not have one for GathererDB and suspect I should. Is that right? I downloaded the zip, in my Addons directory there is a folder named "GathererDB WoWHead" and it has two lua files and a .toc. I've closed and restarted the game multiple times now, not sure what else to try. Any ideas?

Is the space in the folder name breaking it?

Update: Yes, you need to change the space to an underscore. Otherwise the addon doesn't even load.

Indeed, that got it to load. But I was hit with this error when I opened the configuration >> Database >> checked enable:

I did not get an import button to press either. I clicked all over the main panel just in case the button was hidden but no luck! If it matters, this is a fresh install of warcraft so I had not imported any of the previous databases on this computer.

MoP Data Posted

MoP data is now posted.

Also, sorry about the mix-up with the folder name in the previous version.
