GathererDB WoWHead  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 2.0.2013-06-15
by: Esamynn, dinesh, MentalPower, Nechckn, Norganna, norganna_uploader

WoWInterface is happy to announce that we have teamed up with Wowhead and the Norganna's AddOns Gatherer team to provide you with an exclusive downloadable Wowhead database for display in-game by Gatherer.

This addon will provide you with all the information currently in the Wowhead database showing all known locations of herbs, minerals and treasures. Now you can simply load up Gatherer, plug this database into it, and know what can be found in the zone you are in, without having to discover them yourself.

Wowhead will be providing regular dumps of their database to the Norganna team, who will then update the GathererDB Wowhead addon exclusively here on WoWInterface.

How it works
The import procedure is simple and painless. Once you have installed the AddOn and have reloaded the game, ensuring that both Gatherer and GathererDB_Wowhead are activated. When you finally log into the game, follow this procedure to import the new data into Gatherer:

  • Open Gatherer's configuration dialog.
  • Click on the red "Database" tab on the left-hand side of the dialog.
  • Click the import button in the main panel.

Make sure to add GathererDB-Wowhead to your favourites list here on WoWInterface and check back periodically to see if it's been updated, or get an email sent to you whenever they update it if you have those notifications turned on. Any time they update it, just re-download GathererDB-Wowhead and update your local copy.

Help improve the database
If you want to contribute your data back to Wowhead to continue expanding the database, please download and install the Wowhead client (available for both PC and Mac) and just follow the instructions on their site.

About Gatherer
Gatherer is an addon for herbalists, miners and treasure hunters in World of Warcraft. It's main purpose is to track the closest plants, deposits and treasure locations on your minimap.

The addon does not track like a tracking ability does, rather it "remembers" where you have found various items in the past. It does this whenever you gather (perform herbalism, mining, or opening) on an item, and records the specific map location in its history. From then on, whenever the item comes into range of being one of the closest 1-25 (configurable) items to your present location, it will pop up on the minimap.

When you view your World Map, you will also see the item locations clearly marked on each zone's map.

About Wowhead
Wowhead was created with one sole intent: to provide World of Warcraft players with an extensive database and tools to enhance their gaming experience. This website is our contribution to this wonderful game.

Our user community is a big part, if not the biggest part, of Wowhead. Almost all of our information comes from our users, through data uploads from the Wowhead Client, comments on database entries and screenshot submissions! The site also features forums, where users can ask questions, discuss important Warcraft-related topics, recommend and share favorite addons, and much more!

Updated to support Gatherer 4.0.4.

19 DEC 2010 Updated the node list and have included what data is available for the gigantic changes seen in WoW 4.x.

09 DEC 2009 Updated to the most recent set of nodes and updated TOC for WoW 3.3

18 FEB 2009 Updated to the latest nodes, including those recently renamed in 3.0.8.

29 DEC 2008 Corrected some inconsistencies between GathererDB and Gatherer. Included more node locations.

05 DEC 2008 Corrected issues in the script pertaining to Icecrown, node IDs, and a few more nodes included in the DB.

04 DEC 2008 Corrected Icecrown naming, items should now appear in that zone.

03 DEC 2008a The correct, expanded DB file and other changes.

03 DEC 2008 Added yet more Northrend and other WotLK node locations, formatting of file, et cetera.

Arrow GathererDB_Wowhead_2011NOV11 Released

Folks,

Quite sorry for the delay; as noted, things have been rough, with very little time for WoW-type things.

In this release:
More nodes, still all specific to Cataclysm's reconfigured zones
Updated TOC

Happy Gatherering,

Nikk

Woot! Thanks for the update! This is so helpful when leveling new characters, and you're stuck at too high of a zone to be able to use your skills-- makes it much easier to go back to another zone and farm nodes to get your skill level up! Thanks again! (I tried to donate, but PayPal says you currently can't retrieve funds...)

Db import crashes at 94.1%

And yes, this is the brand new updated one that I just downloaded 5 minutes ago.

Anyone got ideas?

Re: NO Icecrown data

Sdluna,

You can open the file and see that there are quite a few IC nodes.

Did you follow the instructions on the main page and import the data, after you downloaded, uncompressed, and installed the DB?

Let us know.

Happy Gatherering,

Nikk

No Icecrown Data Showing

I have Redownloaded, reinstalled, reload data and still nothing showing up for Icecrown. Everthing else show up no problem. Stuff shows up when I gather it myself. I'm thinking there is a typo in the Icecrown data in the .LUA, but i know nothing about LUA scripting.

Re: No Icecrown Data Showing

Draco69cd,

We have tested this a number of times, and it imports as expected each time around - with some fifteen thousand downloads of just this version, it seams that there is some other issue at play with the few who have had trouble with the import.

Since we cannot get the error to occur, so it is really impossible to test - for you, and anyone else for whom the import hangs:

Close completely out of WoW.
Download and extract http://dlftw.com/4p96lgu
Open the document in a text editor or notepad/wordpad
Edit - Select All - Copy
Find and open ..\WorldofWarcraft\WTF\Account\<YourAccountName>\SavedVariables\Gatherer.lua
Highlight the section 'Gather Items' including Gatherer Items, all the way to the end bracket just before the 'GatherDrops' subsection and Paste.
Save the newly-enhanced Gatherer.lua.

When you open WoW, you will find a whole bunch of items, including ones in Icecrown, et cetera.

Note that this was all done by importing the data into Gatherer, so about the only answer is that there is an error/corruption in your local file, before you begin the import, or some systemic issue.

Happy Gatherering,

Nikk

I'm running into the same issue, and when I try to use the data you provided it just dumps the entire .lua file and starts fresh.

Having the same issue as X1pher. When i try the method in your post it starts the file over as a fresh file deleting any nodes in the file.

Guys,

If that happens, then something is happening that makes the file appear corrupt - whether the data is not extracted or the paste is not across the correct portion of the file.

Have a look at the contents of the zip document and verify that you are copying/pasting in the correct spot - that is the most trouble-prone step.

You can always have someone for whom the normal extraction functions send you their node data, and avoid any trouble, too. Just be certain that you both have the dataset viewer open during the transfer on both the sending and receiving machine.

As a third issue/alternative, you could zip and upload your Gatherer.lua and we could insert the data for you, if you prefer. With the holiday here and travel, et cetera, that can take a while, so up to you.

Happy Gatherering,

Nikk

Icecrown Nodes Missing - FIXED!

Hey guys, I just wanted to note upon importing the Database, I recieved no nodes for Icecrown. BUT I fixed it -- the database lua has a name error.

In the database file, DB_WowheadData.lua, on line 3607 it says

ICECROWN = {

and it needs to say

ICECROWN_GLACIER = {

Bam, all nodes in Icecrown now import properly!

:-)

Edit: Fixed Line Number.

Still fail at 97.7%

Mine still doesn't import any data.

It will always close at 97.7%

Deleted the original folders where the addons resided, deleted the lua file under the saved variables folder. Got everything from scratch and it will always fail to import at 97.7%

I fixed the icecrown_glacier error to see if that was the problem, still fail.
