GathererDB WoWHead  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 2.0.2013-06-15
by: Esamynn, dinesh, MentalPower, Nechckn, Norganna, norganna_uploader

WoWInterface is happy to announce that we have teamed up with Wowhead and the Norganna's AddOns Gatherer team to provide you with an exclusive downloadable Wowhead database for display in-game by Gatherer.

This addon will provide you with all the information currently in the Wowhead database showing all known locations of herbs, minerals and treasures. Now you can simply load up Gatherer, plug this database into it, and know what can be found in the zone you are in, without having to discover them yourself.

Wowhead will be providing regular dumps of their database to the Norganna team, who will then update the GathererDB Wowhead addon exclusively here on WoWInterface.

How it works
The import procedure is simple and painless. Once you have installed the AddOn and have reloaded the game, ensuring that both Gatherer and GathererDB_Wowhead are activated. When you finally log into the game, follow this procedure to import the new data into Gatherer:

  • Open Gatherer's configuration dialog.
  • Click on the red "Database" tab on the left-hand side of the dialog.
  • Click the import button in the main panel.

Make sure to add GathererDB-Wowhead to your favourites list here on WoWInterface and check back periodically to see if it's been updated, or get an email sent to you whenever they update it if you have those notifications turned on. Any time they update it, just re-download GathererDB-Wowhead and update your local copy.

Help improve the database
If you want to contribute your data back to Wowhead to continue expanding the database, please download and install the Wowhead client (available for both PC and Mac) and just follow the instructions on their site.

About Gatherer
Gatherer is an addon for herbalists, miners and treasure hunters in World of Warcraft. It's main purpose is to track the closest plants, deposits and treasure locations on your minimap.

The addon does not track like a tracking ability does, rather it "remembers" where you have found various items in the past. It does this whenever you gather (perform herbalism, mining, or opening) on an item, and records the specific map location in its history. From then on, whenever the item comes into range of being one of the closest 1-25 (configurable) items to your present location, it will pop up on the minimap.

When you view your World Map, you will also see the item locations clearly marked on each zone's map.

About Wowhead
Wowhead was created with one sole intent: to provide World of Warcraft players with an extensive database and tools to enhance their gaming experience. This website is our contribution to this wonderful game.

Our user community is a big part, if not the biggest part, of Wowhead. Almost all of our information comes from our users, through data uploads from the Wowhead Client, comments on database entries and screenshot submissions! The site also features forums, where users can ask questions, discuss important Warcraft-related topics, recommend and share favorite addons, and much more!

Updated to support Gatherer 4.0.4.

19 DEC 2010 Updated the node list and have included what data is available for the gigantic changes seen in WoW 4.x.

09 DEC 2009 Updated to the most recent set of nodes and updated TOC for WoW 3.3

18 FEB 2009 Updated to the latest nodes, including those recently renamed in 3.0.8.

29 DEC 2008 Corrected some inconsistencies between GathererDB and Gatherer. Included more node locations.

05 DEC 2008 Corrected issues in the script pertaining to Icecrown, node IDs, and a few more nodes included in the DB.

04 DEC 2008 Corrected Icecrown naming, items should now appear in that zone.

03 DEC 2008a The correct, expanded DB file and other changes.

03 DEC 2008 Added yet more Northrend and other WotLK node locations, formatting of file, et cetera.

In the meantime before the updated DB is put out, is there by chance a way to install ONLY the northrend and outland portions of the database, since they should have no changes? I like having those nodes available on my map thanks to the DB, but the downside is that it also currently includes all the incorrect nodes for Azeroth.

Re: ???

Kamikazeraptor13,

That is one reason why we have it here on WoWInterface - mark it as a favorite, and then you will be automatically notified via email or site PM when it is updated.

As for those who use either of the major auto-updaters, the MMOUI_Minion will notify you when the new version is up and even the Curse Client will let folks know when the update is available.

So, although it should not be too long, as noted, there is no ETA- but the nice thing is that there are all of those great ways to be personally notified when it is ready, so no need to worry about checking daily or "missing" it.

Happy Gatherering,

Nikk

Re: Bug Report

Kestrel,

Although we have noted how you can work around the error, down in the other comments, the dataset is old, pre-shattering data, which will not coincide with all of the changes since that happened. Nearly every node has shifted at least a bit, so you will be stuck with thousands of incorrectly-placed nodes.

Once there is enough data, we have had time to update the AddOn code, procure the data from our partners at Wowhead, add it in, test it, and release it - then it will be out for all to use.

Also, as noted below, the more folks running the Wowhead updater, the faster that the data can be accrued, checked, et al. It is available for MS Windows and OSX via
http://www.wowhead.com/?client .

Happy Gatherering,

Nikk

Re: Re: Re: Error when importing

Gaenjin,

The date is only a small factor, in addition to the WoW version noted in the "Favorites" section, updates either emailed or PMed, and, or, clearly noted by both of the "major" updaters. Not to mention that those who do post are sitting right on the page- so obviously the other replies are right in front of them.

Regardless, it will be out once there is some time and data available; life goes on, no need for dramatics. After dealing with producing AddOns - and actually supporting them, instead of just leaving people to wonder about a question or issue, since the early days of WoW, some things are just par for the course.

Happy Gatherering,

Nikk

Since the month and day of the last update are very close to what it is now, folks have to be paying close attention, in order to catch the "2009" instead of "2010". (and we know that's not a reasonable expectation) Its an understandable oversight, no matter how "holier than thou" people want to pretend to be about it.

The author should just remove (or ask the site admins to remove) the download link, since its extremely outdated, majorly broken and won't be updated any time soon. (according to his posts below)

Yeah, I did the same thing a while back, been updating the DB about once a month for myself. I'd like a new official version, but it seems that's not going to happen for a while, so I'll just keep my own version up to date.

love4stupidppl,

Quite the contrary, but there is not a large data set, as of yet. We get complete sts of data, when they have the time to provide it, then parse it, format it, and include it.

Although there are definitely other ways to obtain the data, we are not one to put additional strain on their bandwidth, with no ROI.

As noted, there are more steps involved - and time, which is the biggest hurdle.

Happy Gatherering,

Nikk
