GathererDB WoWHead  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 2.0.2013-06-15
by: Esamynn, dinesh, MentalPower, Nechckn, Norganna, norganna_uploader

WoWInterface is happy to announce that we have teamed up with Wowhead and the Norganna's AddOns Gatherer team to provide you with an exclusive downloadable Wowhead database for display in-game by Gatherer.

This addon will provide you with all the information currently in the Wowhead database showing all known locations of herbs, minerals and treasures. Now you can simply load up Gatherer, plug this database into it, and know what can be found in the zone you are in, without having to discover them yourself.

Wowhead will be providing regular dumps of their database to the Norganna team, who will then update the GathererDB Wowhead addon exclusively here on WoWInterface.

How it works
The import procedure is simple and painless. Once you have installed the AddOn and have reloaded the game, ensuring that both Gatherer and GathererDB_Wowhead are activated. When you finally log into the game, follow this procedure to import the new data into Gatherer:
  • Open Gatherer's configuration dialog.
  • Click on the red "Database" tab on the left-hand side of the dialog.
  • Click the import button in the main panel.

Make sure to add GathererDB-Wowhead to your favourites list here on WoWInterface and check back periodically to see if it's been updated, or get an email sent to you whenever they update it if you have those notifications turned on. Any time they update it, just re-download GathererDB-Wowhead and update your local copy.

Help improve the database
If you want to contribute your data back to Wowhead to continue expanding the database, please download and install the Wowhead client (available for both PC and Mac) and just follow the instructions on their site.

About Gatherer
Gatherer is an addon for herbalists, miners and treasure hunters in World of Warcraft. It's main purpose is to track the closest plants, deposits and treasure locations on your minimap.

The addon does not track like a tracking ability does, rather it "remembers" where you have found various items in the past. It does this whenever you gather (perform herbalism, mining, or opening) on an item, and records the specific map location in its history. From then on, whenever the item comes into range of being one of the closest 1-25 (configurable) items to your present location, it will pop up on the minimap.

When you view your World Map, you will also see the item locations clearly marked on each zone's map.

About Wowhead
Wowhead was created with one sole intent: to provide World of Warcraft players with an extensive database and tools to enhance their gaming experience. This website is our contribution to this wonderful game.

Our user community is a big part, if not the biggest part, of Wowhead. Almost all of our information comes from our users, through data uploads from the Wowhead Client, comments on database entries and screenshot submissions! The site also features forums, where users can ask questions, discuss important Warcraft-related topics, recommend and share favorite addons, and much more!

Folks,

There is no super-secret conspiracy, though it would make things at least semi-interesting if there were.

Once we have the data, it will be included. Until then, Gatherer works exactly as it has for years now- and has worked since the release of WotLK.

Happy Gatherering,

Nikk

Agreed. Wowhead needs to update the database part for the game :P

QQ babies

I find it annoying that people are crying about WOTLK data not being fully gathered after the game has been out for just over a week and Beta gathers may not be exactly the same as the Live-gathers. There are a ton of level 80's out there already that are herb/ore farming with a database that's much more extensive than anyone who's complaining about the addon.

So go get yourself to 77, get your Cold Weather Flying Skill . And do some flying around. This addon will be there for when/if you lose all your data of gathering in the game someway or somehow.

I'm very grateful for this type of addon surviving for so long. There have been so many good addons that died out before TBC because the authors moved on.

...Couldn't you just add one zone at a time, rather than wait for the whole WotLK data to be sent for this addon? Just would make better sense in my opinion, and you already have tons of information on the area around Valiance Keep surely? I mean, you must have "tester" characters yourself, who run around the areas making sure the node coordinates are correct, couldn't their node info be added to the downloadable database?

A Joke

This is a joke, right?

Every other add-on author had theirs ready for WOTLK. And yes, for the other poster - beta node locations WOULD work - it's the same spots, it'd give everyone a great head start. You have WowHeads nodes for crappy ol' copper ore - but not a single drop for WOTLK? What's the use in 2-4 year old data with the new expansion?

Is WowHead not giving you the Northrend data, so folks still drive to their website? Why else would you "not have the data"? Exactly why don't you have any Northrend node data from Wowhead in this exclusive agreement?

We're not being told something.

All,

Once we receive the data, we will be happy to include it and upload it.

Until then, we all are left to simply gathering the items the "old fashioned way".

Happy Gatherering,

i must agree, i downloaded this database not a few minutes ago, and found it lacking any and all northrend information.

Now, i thought "i saw a comment, this might be from before the release"...but no, upon looking at the date of upload, it was done on the 18th, FIVE DAYS after release of WotLK.

...So, i guess they have infact most likely uploaded the wrong database, because you'd think after three days their gathering characters, which must be 70 considering the Outlands node info, should have gone to Northrend and gathered at least the cobalt outside the Valiance Keep, which can be got to barely 2 minutes after getting to Northrend...

Looking forward to a resolution. Sorry I tripped your QQ meter, apparently.

Doesn't have any mining nodes either. Wonder when the DB will be updated next. Hopefully soon, mining in Northrend at 70 with no flying mount and no Gatherer DB is painful. ;.;

I respectfully disagree. The file I have, version 2008.11.07, has only BC and old-world data in the lua files. An import works successfully for these continents, but not Northrend. A close examination of the files shows no mention of any Northrend zone.

Perhaps a case of mistaken file upload?

Looking forward to an updated DB!

-Keller
11/7... the expansion wasn't out yet. You expect them to publish beta info?
Also... Gatherer didn't get updated to ACCEPT northrend herbs until days after the patch (16th? iirc)

impatient people... You want them to publish beta info for an addon that doesn't support northrend yet? Stop. Think. Less QQ.

Granted... it's been weeks now... where's the update mwahaha

No Northrend and EP is all wrong

FYI:

The "GathererDB_Wowhead-1.0.2008-11-07.zip" has no Northrend data in it.

The Eastern Plaguelands data is all wrong because Blizzard had to modify the EP map when they added the coastline areas.

If this version was not supposed to have the Northrend data I'm ok with that. I was hoping it would. If it was to have the new data...then the file didn't get the data or the importing is broken.

Any chance for an updated database being uploaded here soon? Been flying around Northrend trying to find some of the mining nodes seen on Wowhead.com, but not finding most of them.
