Stuf Unit Frames (and Raid)  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 9.2.101
by: totalpackage, Uitat

Stuf is a replacement to StellarUF. Stuf has the same initial layout and feel of StellarUF, but Stuf is highly customizable.

Do not expect much since this mod's purpose is to replace the Blizzard's main unit frames, not other unit frame mods. I'll most likely deny requests to copy random features.

Noteworthy Recent Additions:

  • Option to only show custom text on mouse-over
  • Latency indicator for player casting bar
  • Arena Frames
  • ButtonFacade support for aura icons
  • Option to use Lua instead of text patterns for advanced users
  • Option to save per character

Supported Units:
  • Player, pet, and pet target
  • Target, target of target, and target of target of target
  • Focus and target of focus
  • Party with their pets and targets
  • Arena with their pets and targets (new in v3.1.005)
  • StufRaid - main raid, raid pets, and raid roles (tanks/assist) and their target and target of target (does not and will not support oRA2/CTRA MT/PT)

Notable Features:
  • Easy transition from Blizzard default frames
  • Cast bars for the main units
  • Dispellable debuff visual
  • Target and focus timer bars for your buffs/debuffs
  • Threat bars on target and focus
  • Shaman totem timers, Death Knight rune bars, and Druid mana bar
  • Low memory and CPU usage compared to popular unit frame mods
  • Customization similar to Discord Unit Frames
  • LibSharedMedia-3.0 support for textures and fonts
  • Ace3 dialog config is used for the options GUI
  • Stuf_Range - LibRangeCheck-2.0 support for estimated distance on target and focus
  • Clique support for click-casting
  • ClassColors custom class color and ConfigMode support for one-button-config
  • ButtonFacade support for aura icon skins (may be buggy)

How to Use:
  • Basic - make sure Stuf_Options is enabled; it's required for initializing defaults and changing settings
  • Options menu - "/stuf" or check the Addons tab in Interface Options
  • Hide party in raid - Stuf obeys Blizzard's option to "Hide Party Interface in Raid"
  • Show/Hide elements - many are hidden/shown by setting the alpha or color alpha to zero
  • Slider nudging - (bug Ace3 people for a better way), I do the following:
    1. Move your cursor over the text above the slider, a tooltip should be showing.
    2. Move your cursor up until the tooltip disappears.
    3. Left-click.
    4. Move your cursor back over the slider until the tooltip reappears.
    5. Now you can nudge using mouse wheel.
  • For sliders, you can also manually input values and press enter.
  • Many options, so I suggest checking each option one-by-one
  • StufRaid:
    • Options menu - "/stufraid" or check the Addons tab in Interface Options
    • Basic - StufRaid does not require Stuf, and Stuf does not require StufRaid
    • Special text - install UTF8 to support special characters for the name text sub-string feature

Features Lacking (forever):
  • No profiles, but you can save per character. Profiles would at least double the memory usage (plus more for each profile you create) of Stuf due to its massive saved variables. Check out Reflux to add profiles options to Stuf and other mods.
  • Showing raid instead of party frames when in a party.
  • Advanced buff/debuff filtering for main units.
  • Switching frames when in vehicle
  • Full-featured casting bar (no GCD, breathe, cooldowns, etc)
  • Anything that would really kill performance and lack usefulness
  • Anything for which already has a great standalone mod
  • Anything picky about text that can be done using Lua text
  • Color health bars if mob is tapped

Known Issues:
  • You cannot right-click Stuf's player buff icon to cancel shape-shift forms (ie. druid forms and shadow form) since they're protected now.

This has been in the design since the beginning, but it's currently not working since I just noticed a typo. It'll be fixed in the next version.

Finally an alternative in UnitFrames and quite well done.

I play a mage, and I love to spellsteal stuff. Not everything that is magic-based is stealable. The default ui puts a very nice bright glow around the buff if it is stealable. Would love to see similar here.

Thanks!

Aura timer bars are mainly to keep track of your crowd control, dots, hots, etc. If it makes sense to put it on the player frame, then it makes sense to put it on party and pets as well. If you want to track timers on yourself, rely on your buff frame or target/focus yourself.

[solid_if_alive:%] should work in the latest version. Try it out.

Wow, you're tough. You must've been an advanced pb dogtag user. Well, I thought something like [solid_if_alive:%] or [solid_if_alive:%%] would work, but no go ([solid_if_alive:&] works but not the correct symbol). Putting a '%' in a pattern will not come out the way you want since it's a special character. I've added a workaround in the next version.

Thanks for the response. Another quick question.

Is there any way to make text outside of brackets hide when certain conditions are met?

In particular, I have ([perchp]%) to show health, is there a way to make the (%) hide when a target is dead?

1. Short answer: no. Long answer: You can achieve a similar effect Stuf with some creativity, but not complete. I don't believe that the portrait is being resized; it's being covered by the health bar that grows in the other direction. It's cool, but I think this is very useless because the portrait is a source of information that should not be hard to see just because something is low in health. IMO, either always show portrait or always hide it and get used it.

2. You'll have to play with the width and spacing of the rune frames as well as the width of the player frame to line up correctly. Rune frames have settings that'll satisfy most, but I do not want to compete with all the dedicated rune frame mods out there (some are bigger than Stuf itself). You can hide Stuf's and use another if you want more.

Or learn how to edit code (no need to learn LUA) and stick with oUF.

First off, I'd like to thank you for making this add on. I am a former Pit Bull user and was convinced I was stuck with it's high resource usage becasue no other Unit Frame add on could compare to it's configuration options. Since switching to Stuf I have had noticeable performance improvements.

Before I found Stuf I tried my hand at oUF with the oUF P3lim layout but have no knowledge of LUA so I had to find something new. I really liked the oUF P3lim layout so once I found Stuf I wanted to recreate that layout and have been able to do so almost exactly.

There are a couple things I haven't been able to do though so I was just wondering if you could add these features:

1.) Is there anyway you could add the ability to overlay portraits on the Health Bar and have them re-size with the Health Bar as it gets lower? I realize this is kinda of a niche request so if it's a direction you're not willing to go with your Unit Frames I'd understand.

also

2.) Would it be possible to add more configurations to the Rune Bar so that It could meld into the Player Frame a bit better. Here's a SS example of what I'm talking about from the oUF P3lim add-on page:

oUF P3lim + oUF RuneBar

I know the Rune Bar module in Stuf is very similar but it doesn't match up well with the width of the player frame and you cant make backgrounds for the whole Rune Bar frame, just the individual runes.

Thank you again for this add on. I hate to ask any more of it becasue it's akin to looking a gift horse in the mouth but any consideration would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you dude! yup I understand It could be a problem for unitframe mods
and secureframe is a big restriction, anyway I believe stuf is really small
and is not the first mod I should care delaying but much mods like Auctioneer,
I have delayed it to load only informant tooltip stuffs after the entering world,
and all the others auctioneer heavy stuffs load when I open the AH I linked it
to an event, very good to keep a fast reloadui or disconnections/reco, keep
it up anyway on Stuf very good Unitframe mod probably the best I have tried,
I must have found yours before screwing my comp with PitBull or xperl ^^

Yep, delayed loading does break Stuf if you reload/log into combat. However, I did add AddonLoader support in the next version so that the load setting can be overridden.

I'm a fan of AddonLoader and use it myself. However, reloading while in combat or logging into combat will totally break Stuf if it was delayed. I haven't tried this in a while, so it might not be true now. I'll look into it.

Simplebuffbars, MSBT etc all pickup my font so I don't think it's a problem on my end...
Hmm, that would be Stuf's fault. Since your mod most likely loads after Stuf (alphabetically), the media isn't found when Stuf requests it. I'll have to register callbacks with LibSharedMedia. It's on my to-do.
