Sunn - Viewport Art  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 3.42
by: Sunn [More]
Sunn's Viewport Art allows you to change the size of the rendered world area (viewport) and adds textured artwork in the non-rendered areas.

Click here to lend your support!

The latest version always available at Curse

Usage
Use "/sunnart" (or "/sa") for the options gui.
Use "/sunnart help" for console commands

Panels
There are 4 panels in SunnArt, top, bottom, left and right. By default each will use the same theme although they can be set up with different themes, overlaps and dimensions using the advanced options.

Art Packs
Art packs are optional and should be installed as if they were separate addons (although they are useless without the SunnArt addon).

Extract the zipped folder into your interface/addons folder for it to function.

Previews of the artwork in the packs are available in the screenshots on this page.

Art Packs are available on this site

There are other art packs available that have been submitted by users. Search for "Sunn" on Curse or check for Optional Files on WoWInterface.

Custom Artwork
Artwork from any standard panels addon may be used with SunnArt. Just set them up using the in-game interface or by editting CustomTheme.lua.

File formats
  • Files must be .TGA or .BLP format
  • Be sure to set the alpha channel if your artwork contains any transparency
  • Panels can be constructed from 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 separate sections, numbered from left to right (eg. <art file>1.tga, <art file>2.tga ... <art file>5.tga)
  • Each section MUST have dimensions that are a power of 2 (ie, 128, 256, 512, 1024 etc) - this is a limitation of all artwork to be used in WoW.
  • Only files within the Interface\Addons\ structure are available to the addon

Using CustomTheme.lua
  • Save your artwork sections in Interface\Addons\SunnArt
  • Open CustomTheme.lua in any text editor
  • Follow the instructions in the file
  • Any number of themes can be set up in CustomTheme.lua

Using the in-game interface
All you need to know is the path to the artwork files, the amount of overlap and the number of sections the artwork is split into. Enter these into the Advanced options screen, Enter a name for your theme and click save. The theme will now be available to all your characters.

Submitting Artwork
I'm looking for a talented artist or two to help create a new Art Pack. Please submit your editted files or a complete screen-size file so that I may split it into compatible files and create a "How-To" tutorial for others.

If you have artwork that you would like to submit for Art Pack 10 and onward, please mail it to sunnart@uksf.com and if I like it then I will include it in the next release.

Recommended Addons
These are some addons that will help organise your UI so that elements may be moved off the world screen and into the artwork areas of this addon. All of these addons use the same libraries as Sunn Viewport Art, which means alot of the code and resources are re-used rather than bloating your UI with lots of different code that does that same thing.

Action Bars - Dominos or Bartender4
Minimap - BasicMinimap and Minimap Button Frame or SexyMap
Chat Frame - Prat
Unit and Raid Frames - Pitbull and Grid

FAQ
Art Packs are not available?
Make sure the art packs are installed in your addons folder, NOT in the SunnArt folder
Translations
If any part of this addon is not available in your language then please contribute to translation at the CurseForge localization page
Problems or Errors
Please submit any error reports, problems or feature requests at the CurseForge Development Site.
Fixed taint issue when hiding UI in combat with viewport enabled.
Fixed a bug where settings would reset if the old ToggleUI key was bound.
Fixed recurring frame level increase. Frame level limited to 2.

Where is 4th part of graphic?

I can't get the 4th graphic to show up. First, when I enter a custom style, the slider to set the number of frames is inactive. Next, the style doesn't seem to be saved in the custom lua. So, I edit the custom lua and put the number of frames in the correct spot. The style is there when I start up, but it shows only 3 of the 4 frames. There is a gap if I enter 4, if I enter 3 then I'm missing the forth one - which oft has a right-hand border to complete the look.

Also, while I'm typing, is there a way to get rid of the far left buffer on the bottom panel? Perhaps have there be a slider that moves the whole graphic to the left?

idea for new skins

he's got some really pretty pictures http://digitalblasphemy.com/ and I think if you asked him if it would be ok to use them as a sunn art, I don't think he'd mind.

Background is the lowest strata. Your list is in the correct order except for "Inherited" which inherits the frame's parent's strata.

Each strata has 129 or so levels so that frames on the same strata don't blend. You should probably look at setting those.

There's more info here: http://www.wowwiki.com/XML/Frame#Wha...frameStrata.3F
alright, i'll check that out. so in theory we could put a slider 1-129 next to the drop down menu to utilize the levels of strata which wouldn't be totally impossible to do because we're only dealing with 4 art panels max you know its not like the main panel has like 8 parts layered like mistra's diablo3 orbs i had to reprogram strata which i may redo to make it perfect once i learn more about the exact levels.

here is mistra' d3 orbs, you should check it out looks great with sunart with whatever skin, you can change orb colors to whatever you want. http://www.curse.com/addons/wow/mistras-diablo-orbs

but ya ill read up on strata thanks for the info

strata

hey, could i get you to add more levels of strata? see i'm trying to make it so the art is behind mistra's diablo 3 orbs i'm running without unwanted blending via lack or wrong strat levels. i've already went through and modified mistra's diablo orbs so that the strat is 1 level higher than what he created it at. however i have sun art set to "low" strata yet there still is minimal blending visible to the human eye so i'm asking you is it possible to add strata lower than "low" ? currently on weak auras via strata options i see

"inherited"
background
low
medium
high
dialog
fullscreen
fullscreen_dialog
tooltip

do you think any of these options would be less strata than "low"?

I've been doing my own Sunnart for awhile... I'm having a problem with the right-hand panel (I use 3 panels) the left and middle panel but the right panel is a big neon green square. What could be causing this?

Not really sure if its sorted out in the end. I give up for now. It's just not fun if I'm troubleshooting ui/addon stuff constantly so i'm keeping what I have been doing for my sanity sake. It looked like it was working initially and then...it stopped so yeah. Thank you again for the effort to address what night be a moot issue :S

Oh, you fixed it while I was writing the following. Glad you got it sorted.

---

I'm at a loss, It works fine for me. Rolling the mousewheel up and down doesn't work, but that's a known issue with the wow client, it won't recognize the mouse wheel outside of the rendered 3D world.

All my mouse clicks work just fine though, including side buttons, left & right buttons AND the mousewheel button, with and without modifiers like ctrl, alt and shift. I've tested it with macros and the clique addon with Grid and Pitbull.

So I don't know what is causing the problem you're experiencing. I'm pretty sure it's not the Sunnart addon though. You would probably experience the same issue without it and resizing the viewport manually like the ticket I posted earlier.

So I'm out of ideas. All I can suggest is to turn off vertical viewport in the sunnart options.

Eh, one way or another!

windows. and today I got sick enough of it that I saved my crafted sunnarts to my desktop, deleted both clique and sunnart, redownloaded them both, and so far no issues. /scratches head...now to remember how I had my binds and macros! oh noes lol shoulda saved clique in a backup for the macros. Assuming the issue won't come back, thank you for the effort.

I was/would like to use mouse click functions on/over grid. I am able to do the standard left click action, but when I had my combo of alt+right click it would not cast Healing Surge. Or mouse middle button click: no chain heal, roll up: no riptide, roll down:no cleanse disease. If I shift my grid into the Viewport area (out of the sunnart panel) then the assignments work as programmed. I had a response from someone on the forums that With grid being out of the Viewport area, wow is not supposed to acknowledge click-style commands or some such. For now I've rearranged and adapted, just wanted to see if there is an alternative that I'm missing, Since I highly prefer this over KG panels for the resizing.

Sorry I'm not the most fluent in in game/comp lingo :P and I checked my sunnart strata and it is set to background.

Re: clique+sunnart=less than fully functional

I use clique with SVA, I don't have a problem with it. You mention mouseover functions. Does clique even do mouseover? I'm not a clique expert, I only use it on my healing chars and it works for me with mouseover macros.

What frames are you trying to make the mouse interact with? Grid or something similar?

There was something similar came up a while ago with Vuhdo not accepting mousewheel input outside the viewport, but other than that I haven't experienced any problems. Is this the problem: Ticket: Incompatible with Vuhdo ?
