Introducing Ion - Version 3 "Lithium"

Ion is a macro-based action bar addon. It can stand on its own or supplement any other action bar addon or even the default Blizzard UI.




Modules:
Ion comes with 4 modules that can be used for a full featured action bar experience. These modules are optional, but it is highly recommended that they be used for the best experience.

Features:
  • Ion features an unlimited number of macros. You can create as many bars/buttons as you want/need per character!
  • Are you a keybinder extreme? Use the button storage area for all your macros/keybindings! No buttons on screen needed!
  • Are you a clicker extraordinaire? As many buttons on the screen you want where you want, when you want!
  • Macros the size of Texas! Up to 1024 characters in length!
  • Maul's unique mouse-over key-binding system - where the mouse-over binding system was born!
  • Many other of the favorite desired bar addon features and then some!
  • And, importantly, MASQUE support!


Graphical Editor:
Ion contains a graphical bar editor that allows for a nearly endless customization of bar shape, size, orientation, etc, that has neither limitations on max number of bars nor the number of buttons per bar. Further all of the options found in the graphical bar editor can also be set using the below command structure:


Commands:
Type /ion alone to display a list of available commands, which are:
  • menu: Toggle the main menu
  • storage: Open the button storage area
  • create: Create a blank bar
  • delete: Delete the currently selected bar
  • config: Toggle configuration mode for all bars
  • add: Adds buttons to the currently selected bar (add or add #)
  • remove: Removes buttons from the currently selected bar (remove or remove #)
  • edit: Toggle edit mode for all buttons
  • bind: Toggle binding mode for all buttons
  • scale: Scale a bar to the desired size.
  • snapto: Toggle SnapTo for current bar
  • autohide: Toggle AutoHide for current bar
  • shape: Change current bar's shape
  • name: Change current bar's name
  • strata: Change current bar's frame strata
  • alpha: Change current bar's alpha (transparency)
  • alphaup: Set current bar's conditions to 'alpha up'
  • arcstart: Set current bar's starting arc location (in degrees)
  • arclen: Set current bar's arc length (in degrees)
  • columns: Set the number of columns for the current bar
  • padh: Set current bar's horizontal padding
  • padv: Set current bar's vertical padding
  • padhv: Adjust both horizontal and vertical padding of the current bar incrementally
  • showgrid: Toggle the current bar's showgrid flag
  • x: Change current bar's horizontal axis position
  • y: Change current bar's vertical axis position
  • state: Toggle states for the current bar (/mac state <state>). Type /mac statelist for vaild states
  • statelist: Print a list of valid states
  • load: Load a profile
  • lock: Lock buttons

- Removed legacy morph spell code

- Reworked Rogues stealth bars to use the stance setting. This should allow them shadow dance to change bars correctly. This change will probably result in lost old style stealth layouts.
- Added a Shadow Dance bar state for Subtlety rogues when using the "Stealth" bar state. This allows for a separate Stealth and Shadow Dance bars to be used. Users can opt to remap the Stealth bar to the Shadow Dance state if they want a single bar state
- Fix for issue where dragging a item to the bar when the editor was open would overwrite the home state macro.
- Fixed issue where macro text would not clear between bar states.
- Fixed some issues with flyouts not generating correctly.

7.3 issues

edit: Keybinds going again. Game controller fudged up for some reason. Used notepad to confirm. After plugging back in all good hopefully.

Evidently keybinds are not working and neither is (left, center, right) clicking the ion icon on map or bar. I just clicked on buttons earlier. Clicking on buttons works. Keybind issue??

menu does not work if you click it.

Tooltip for class hall mounts

SLOKnightfall, is there a way to have the class mounts (Paladin and DK have them, not sure about others) show the remaining duration on the item in the tooltip when it's on the action bar rather than showing the full duration (1 hour)? I'd like to be able to see the remaining duration there rather than having to open my bags and finding the item.

Seems like something that would either be easy or impossible to implement...

I've had similar issues in the distant past, I eventually just reset everything in Ion back to default and it's been fine for months (or years, not sure how recently I had that issue). I used it as an opportunity to start over and revamp how I had things configured.

BTW, My rogue and mage are my last two, so I think I am close to done pestering everyone with my questions. Thanks for all of the help.
All you should need to do is get into the macro editor mode and select the bar that you want the abilities on. The macro window should have a list of the various states available to the bar, select the appropriate state and the bar should change to reflect how it is in that state. From there you should be able to just drag the abilities you want to it and then exit from the macro editor state.

Sub Rogue

Ok, I noticed Ion has handled the Sub Rogue talent well with a 3 second bar after breaking stealth. I am failing to figure out how to drop my skills onto that bar, however. I assume I will probably need to use /ion state <something>, I'm just not sure what that something is to set up this bar with the skills I need. Thanks in advance.

BTW, My rogue and mage are my last two, so I think I am close to done pestering everyone with my questions. Thanks for all of the help.

Yes the "dual spec" option is really just for the content of the bar, not for the bar itself. If you want the bar to not be present in a specific spec, just keep the dual spec option on, and in the other specs just remove all buttons and don't have it show grid and it will "dissapear", even though it is still there.
Will that sometimes be in the way of clicking in that area even if it is "hidden"? I assume it is supposed to click-through in a hidden state, but some addons I've used will still occasionally be in the way when I try to click on the environment under that hidden element.
That might possibly be the case, but you can always set the strata to something low so that objects will stay on top of it instead of falling behind it

2. Raid Marker Flyouts can not be done with ION at this time
3. To get the exact spells for flyouts use the spell id that you can find using wowheads entry for the spell.If you are looking to use the Essence if Ghanir ability its id is 208253
4. I believe that there is no way to separate food & drink, as it uses the game subtype which combines both food & drink
5. I think that you could use item:Healing Potion and item:Mana Potion for the 2 flyouts

As for the dual spec bar, if you want it to change between specs you need to select "Dual Spec". If you don't the bar will be persistent across a spec change.
Thank you for the response. It really is appreciated that you and Maul sacrifice your personal and gaming time to make our experience better.

I will put a suggestion into the feature request forum. You might be able to steal features from the addon "Autobar". Hopefully, you wouldn't have to re-invent the wheel and might be able to take directly from the addon as it really doesn't seem to be maintained anymore. They have devised some way to separate food into multiple categories. The main three I remember are:
Health
Mana
Health+buff

They have also devised a raid marker flyout, somehow. What if...

Would it be possible to make a macro for each marker, then build a flyout or select that would call the macros?

That addon has some interesting concepts. The pre-built stuff works fairly well. The customization is muy broken, however. Also, hopefully, they are not using description scanning, since I noted in this thread that can lead to lag, and is why you have avoided using that.

I'm sorry, but I don't see a way to search this thread. I am so glad I found this addon again. I just can't seem to figure out a few things.

It might help if I know how to read a spell id/type description, etc so I might be able to answer my own questions, but here are a few I'm struggling with.
